Nunton Steadings Built way back in the 1700s, the beautifully historic Nunton Steadings building is the place we call home. Situated in Benbecula, right at the heart of island life, it’s where we proudly bring Whisky production back to our islands. Currently under restorations work, our B-listed building is undergoing some loving attention to bring it back to bustling island life. Aug 13,2022In terms of the gin: I have tasted a few gins in my time but not nearly as many as my Granny. Downpour gin is not only one of my favourites, but now one of my Granny’s favourites too. In terms of the company: getting a handwritten note with every order is a really nice personal touch and I really appreciate it. Plus they do free delivery ANYWHERE in the UK which is great because I live on a remote island and a lot of companies slap on an additional delivery charge for extra transport. Overall I’d say Downpour gin is amazing and I’d love to visit North Uist Distillery one day.

Aug 11,2022This is the best gin I have ever tasted - I have gifted the miniature packs to friends and they agree Downpour is so complex and delicious you can drink it on its own, like a liqueur. I did a blind tasting against other gins recently and Downpour shone, way ahead of the rest.

Aug 10,2022Discovered North Uist Distillery on a visit to the Outer Hebrides. A modest sign by the side of the road indicated the presence of a distillery. Who could resist exploring further. Here we discovered Downpour gin (and various other treats!). We bought a couple of bottles to try it out and were immediately converted. As soon as we were home we got online to order more, and have since been regular customers. Apart from being completely delicious it has also become our favourite gift to others. While we are always sad to part with a bottle, the delight it brings to others is wonderful, and we hope that they are also becoming regular purchasers. Certainly they continue to rave about the Gin every time we see them for years afterwards! I have tried a huge variety of gins over the years and would like to think I had become a bit of an expert. On this basis I have concluded that Downpour is the best!

Aug 07,2022We had the most amazing time at the gin tasting session with North Uist Distillery. The staff were all so friendly and informative, bringing the whole session to life brilliantly. The gin is also the best I’ve ever tried - especially the grapefruit. I don’t usually like pink gin but this one is soooo nice! I would 100% recommend this gin and tasting experience to any gin lovers visiting Uist!

I thankfully discovered this amazing gin while in North Uist and even though I continue to try new gins absolutely nothing can better Downpour. The customer service is always excellent and very friendly, it is clear their customers matter. The website is easy to use and deliveries are always prompt and safely packaged.
