Going on the trip to Australia for the first time felt like they are coming with you - we found the entire process exceptionally organized. We will be using them again ....no doubt. Jan 05,2019Oyster made sure I had everything I needed for my trip to Africa. Even though we were on different time zones they answered every email quickly and thoroughly, I never felt like I was bothering them. They were available during my time in Africa and even checked in during my first few days there. Not every organization is like this! Their packing list was thorough but did not include anything unnecessary. I would not hesitate to book another trip through them

I never felt as though I was being a burden and Jon (from the UK office) was absolutely amazing in supporting us pre-departure, throughout the project and once we'd left. Even now I'm turning to Oyster for advice on a couple of things! It was an amazing experience made better by a fantastic agency.

Dec 11,2018I used Oyster's services to spend a week in Costa Rica on a marine conservation project and it was one of the most relaxing and rewarding experience I've ever had. The people I met along the way were fantastic, the accomodations were comfortable, and I always felt prepared and taken care of thanks to the team at Oyster Worldwide. My trip started off a little stressful due to flight delays, and Oyster handled it for me in a swift and positive way. I will definetly be using their services again and suggest you do the same.

Nov 20,2018There were certain aspects of what Oyster said and what actually happens that make a difference. We experienced a couple of difficulties that should have been known about. IE the Boma experience, the Tee shirt scenario, and health issues.

Nov 17,2018The staff at Oyster Worldwide were an incredible help especially for me, someone who didn't really know much about travelling but really wanted to try it. Jon helped me on the England side of things introducing me to people I was traveling with, helping to get my visa and make sure I was prepared for life and work in Banff Canada. Arjun was a huge help on the Canadian side, he picked us up from the airport, put us in a hotel for our first night and gave us an amazing tour the next day, as well as helping us set up bank accounts and getting all the documents we needed for work. I have had the most amazing year in Banff and I don't think I would have done it without their help and support! So if you are a little nervous about traveling or you don't know where to start Oyster Worldwide is a great way to get you on your way.

Nov 13,2018Romanian Bear Sanctuary Excellent and very personal customer service from Anne. She was very attentive and provided lots of pre-travel information. The trip was great and the local rep in Romania did his best to accommodate and look after our needs in every way. The sanctuary was amazing and it was a real pleasure to spend time there observing the bears and prepping their food. The flat we were placed in was perfect for us as a family of 5, although the beds and bedding could do with updating. However, as the 2 bedrooms are interconnecting I am not sure how suitable they would be for a mixed group of male and female volunteers from a personal safety perspective. I would definitely be more than happy to recommend Oyster and the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, who are doing an amazing job and would be happy to book through them again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful and unique experience.

Nov 09,2018I am missing Costa Rica very much already! The experience was so unique and unlike anything I have ever done before, as you are fully immersed in the culture and the beautiful surroundings. It’s so important to make the most of this. The community is so welcoming and it’s great getting to know the locals. I would definitely recommend brushing up on your Spanish a little, to make life a bit easier when you get there. I wish I could have stayed longer. The help from the Oyster Worldwide team was also amazing, they were great with organising everything.

Nov 09,2018It was an absolutely amazing experience and we were so lucky with the weather and other volunteers! Being a volunteer for Turtle Trax was very interactive and insightful as I was given many responsibilities and duties and took part in the night patrols. The scenery was stunning and the atmosphere was so inviting. Both the staff and locals were very welcoming and friendly, being very patient whilst I attempted to speak Spanish! The food was also a definite highlight! The Oyster Worldwide representatives were extremely helpful and comforting in both the lead up and during the trip; offering consistent advice and reassurance that when the time came I felt thoroughly prepared and relaxed.

Nov 08,2018Ok, I decided that it was time, I took my son and I on a different type of holiday. One that would reawaken my senses and develop his. Trust me, this holiday didn't disappoint. Where do I start, so many high points and wonderful moments. The friendliness of the people,(the Costa Rican's, as well as the project leaders), the beautiful surroundings; the place we stayed at was right on the beach surrounded by lush green everywhere. The musical cacophony of all the surrounding wildlife. Holding a baby turtle for the first time, and watching 126 of them crawl to the sea, with the knowledge that you have helped them have a chance at survival. Being mesmorised by a Mummy turtle, while she laid her eggs in a trance, and realising we were part of something fantastic, when we count the eggs and protect them. The fantastic conversations you have on night patrol. The wonderful knowledge of the project coordinators and how they made us feel like family. The monkeys in the trees, throwing their discarded almond shells on our heads. My sons constant state of excitement, at everything he was surrounded by and holding a turtle egg. That type of experience, could never be taught in classroom. He even did used counting the eggs to practice his timetables! Do not go with any preconceptions, relax and go with the flow. The projects are organised, very impressively, however, nature is unpredictable and the more fluid you are as a person, the more enjoyable you will find it. Bring a really fantastic night camera. There was so much wonderful activity that happened at night, that it would be a shame not to capture it. As you can't use a flash at night, in case it disturbs the turtles, so if you can ivest in a good night camera, it will be worth it. We were lucky that turtles and hatchings happened during the day, however, this was unusual. If you are going with children, remember, your children will mirror your response. There are a lot of late night patrols, and they will get tired as the week goes on, especially, if they are playing in the sea in the day time. Also,remember, the world at night is a strange place for them, so involve them in your conversation and make it fun for them. However, if you are motivated, they will be motivated. My son, never waivered from wanting to do the night patrols. Maybe, bring some energy boosting treats for them, as some patrols are longer than others. Make sure you invest in good waterproofs, as the reason Costa Rica is so green, is due to it's sunshine and wonderful downpours. Also, a good pair of waterproof walking shoes. At night, even if is not raining you may have to walk through a slight bit of water. Lots of socks, if you don't want to put on damp socks the next night. Learn a little bit of Spanish, not so much that you will have difficulty getting around, more so, because everyone is so friendly, that it is lovely to engage in banter with them. Always keep a bit of money for the end of the project. I found everything was organised really well throughout, however, a slight hiccup on my last day meant that I had to pay for a coach This wasn't a problem for us, however, there was a guy who was also returning on that day, who had no money, if we hadn't helped him out, he would've been stuck. Make sure you have everything you need, as the beauty of the place where it is at, is that it is in quite a remote part. I carried a few snacks with me and that kept my hungry son going in between meal times and when I didn't want to get out of bed for breakfast yet! One of the reasons why I chose this company, was due to the fact that their holidays also benefit the local community. The food was cooked by the locals and it was wonderful being able to share their food all together. The food was absolutely delicious and there was always plenty to go around, even for seconds. Thank goodness for those beach patrols to help walk it off, otherwise, I may not have been able to fit on.the plane home! The accommodation we stayed in was a place owned by a local, who rents it out. The project itself, has locals involved. We went on night patrol with a few, who were friendly and welcoming. The transportation and first night hotel is either family run or someone from the community. I wish I had, had the chance to stay longer, it is such a wonderful experience. The fact that you are able to live within the community, right on the beach and take part in some wonderful hands on research. I also felt completely safe and extremely comfortable, if there were any issues, I had to raise. Everyone made us feel involved completely, right from the start, from handling the eggs, counting the baby turtles and releasing them to the sea, , to washing the equipment the next day. It really was a fantastic holiday. If you want to have a full on immersive experience, this is definitely one to go for with this company.

Nov 02,2018I had a brilliant experience. Staff were very helpful from initial chat on phone right through to the local representative. There was plenty of predeparture info and advice available on the website. All the transfers and transport within Romania were taken care of, everything happened on time and drivers were always reliable. Accommodation was of a high standard, I stayed in a clean and well appointed flat in the town with everything needed within easy walking distance. The local representative was very helpful and easily contactable. Working in the bear sanctuary was a great experience, being up close to the bears was incredible and there was plenty of time just to enjoy the bears as well as work. I wasn't disappointed by any aspect of the trip, I managed to do everything I wanted to and had a very memorable time. I would happily recommend Oyster to others.

They gave me multitudes of information to prepare me, and kept in contact while volunteering. Their projects are mindblowing and affordable, and they organise everything for you. I cannot recommend them highly enough if you want a project where you are treated like a friend, and can get involved in organisations you know are doing great things.

They kept in touch with me before, during and after my trip to ensure I was ok and was enjoying myself. I cannot fault the company in any way and I would recommend them to anyone looking to go travelling.

Oct 16,2018I dealt with Oyster Worldwide for my recent trip to the Romanian Bear Sanctuary as a volunteer. Oyster were very professional from my first contact with Anne, who rang me in Australia from the UK to speak about the program, to her emails keeping in contact before I left and when I arrived in Romania. Everything was organized for us from pick up at Bucharest airport, accommodation, daily transport to the sanctuary, excursion on weekends. Nothing was too much trouble when we ask staff for something. I would defiantly use them again.

Oct 15,2018I had an amazing experience at Kwantu game reserve over the summer and have learned invaluable skills that I will carry through life with me, this was thanks to Oyster who planned my travels and provided all of the relevant information on any documentation I would need travelling alone as a seventeen year old. Oyster made the whole process simple and I am extremely thankful to their destination manager who helped with any queries I had.

Oct 12,2018Whistler Ski Season I could honestly not reccomend this company enough! I had the best year of my life when I did a ski season in Whistler through Oyster worldwide. I was extremely worried being 18 years old and leaving home for the first time but Oyster made sure I had nothing to worry about. Everything was organised precisely and when we were in Canada we had everything sorted for us and if we ever needed help, their representative Tory was always on hand. I had such a great 6 months that i ended up staying the summer with three girls who had also arrived with Oyster and who are still my best friends to this day!

Oct 11,2018The Problem with Oyster worldwide consists in the fact that they are just an intermediary organisation and not the organizer of the project itself. This means that you are basically paying (loads of) money not just for the trip and the project but also for Oyster Worldwide making google search for you. If you need someone to organize a trip for you so that you don't have to care for the paperwork so much, Oyster is a good address though. But if you want to save a lot of money and organizing in exchange a little bit more stuff for your trip on your own, you should book your trip with the organizer itself.

Jan 07,2019Some problems with the booking process, wasn’t always able to access My Oyster account online. There was also an overcharge for an additional night although lim this did get refunded. I feel that the team could do more to ensure that people are matched to the right programme. Although I enjoyed my experience, prior to my trip, I didn’t feel that I was asked much about my experience and skills. I also feel that more realistic expectations should be set about the standard of accomodation. I was told I was likely to have my own room and en suite when actually I was in a 12 bed dorm with a shared bathroom.
