Lovely location and the cottage had everything we needed. Though the decor could be seen as dated everything was very well maintained, and the owners were friendly and helpful.
Lovely cottage. Very comfortable and clean. Owners very helpful and welcoming. Generous welcome pack on arrival. Dog friendly with lovely garden and walk through woods to the river.
Pen Bryn is situated in a ideal spot in St Davids, just behind the main street. Plenty of room to park on the drive. The cottage is spacious and well equipped and everything was very clean and we had no worries here regarding Covid. The back garden is completely enclosed with high fencing so dogs were very safe. The owners live next door and available should you need them. We had a brilliant time exploring the surrounding areas and will definitely be going back to Pen Bryn.
Booked accommodation on line , system easy to follow and straightforward and received email confirmation within 5 minutes. It felt safe and secure system .
Resulting from a total disappointment with the cottage we had booked for 10 nights and where nothing would have persuaded us to stay, we searched - and Vrbo came up trumps! Where? Hendra Retreat Holiday Barns, Camelford, PL32 9UU, in Cornwall. The Piglets was everything that our original booking wasn't - spotless, comfortable, great showers, welcoming and attentive hosts. And much more besides. A serious thank you to Bridget & Tom for rescuing our Cornish holiday.
Mullock Bridge (ref 239716) is a lovely spacious property with a couple of drawbacks. The upstairs bathroom has about a 5ft 3in doorway so I could go in fine but my 6ft husband repeatedly banged his head - we felt there should be clearer warning signs, on the floor as well as at head height. The other issue was that the open fire smoked really badly, setting off the smoke alarm upstairs and making the upstairs bedrooms smell horribly of smoke. The plus sides were the well-equipped kitchen/diner, pleasant sitting out areas and comfy beds. The bottle of wine was much appreciated too!
I've seven years of experience booking and staying at holiday cottages in the UK - more often than not, in my reviews, you will find the words, these pictures do not do this cottage justice. For this review, I'm not able to use those words to help describe this holiday bungalow - the photographs for this place mislead and misrepresent the holiday let in question. I had booked this holiday last September through Quality Cottages - a holiday myself - my husband and our son were greatly looking forwards to going on. We arrived at our holiday destination around 5:30 Friday the 10th of September 2021 - we had left to return home by 9:00 am the following day. There is no other word to describe this place other than filthy it had soon become clear that no cleaning had taken place there - the accumulation of dust and dirt strongly suggested that no cleaning had taken place for several months - if not longer. I had to wash the microwave before I could use it. A wet towel hung in the bathroom - one dirty toilet brush was in its holder - and used plasters were in the bin mould covered much of the shower cubicle. The vertical blinds are not fit for purpose. The kitchen worktops felt greasy - the oven was not one you would wish to use - and crumbs were in and around the toaster. The fridge contained a part used out of date 4-pint container of milk the freezer drawers were dirty with crumbs and other food particles ice-lollies along with a glass containing god knows what. Around the walls were cobwebs galore - on the floor were plenty of dead flies - in a used candle holder were two dead moths entombed in the dried wax. It was early next morning when the cockroaches joined us that was the final straw - and we left. There is a hot tub there - but you could not have paid me to get into it. I will say that the view is magnificent! I complained to Quality Cottage - but due to the manageress being on holiday I had to wait for her return to deal with my complaint she returned to work on Monday (19) of this week - I waited to hear from her but come 3:00 that afternoon having not heard from her I rang - she was on another line I asked for her to call me - it didn't happen. The next day I rang at 2:00 - again the manageress wasn't available the excuse this time she wasn't at her desk I asked again for a return call it never happened. The following day my daughter rang on my behalf - she never got anywhere either - she had to listen to a load of twaddle about after the year this manageress has had she deserved a holiday and that my daughter needs to see this woman's inbox! That's when I emailed Visit Wales - they replied the very next day. Strangely enough - around an hour after their email arrived, I had an email from Quality Cottages telling me they were refunding me in full. If you are looking at renting Wenallt (it's on with other holiday letting agents under the name of Ridge Top) in the Wye Valley - don't let those photos suck you in as they did me! Unless - of course - you are happy to spend your holiday in a cockroach-infested hovel.
Beautiful cottages to view. The website is very clear and easy to use. I have just booked for 2022 and I set up the direct debit no problem at all. Very happy and can't wait to go on our annual family holiday.
DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I am leaving this review on behalf of my parents who booked through Quality Cottages. Do not use this company, they are unbelievably unprofessional and scammers! My elderly parents who booked their stay through this company had a terrible experience; the cottage advertised is not what you get. The accommodation booked wasn’t what was advertised, when my parents arrived there were cockroaches – dead and alive. There were pieces of old sausage under the wardrobe, the dust was horrendous, the shower was covered in mould, the spider webs had clearly been there a long time, the fridge had an opened out of date pint of milk in it, the freezer had left over ice lollies and crumbs and a glass with something white obviously frozen, there was a nail brush on the side with a dead cockroach in, the blinds were all broken in every room, under the bed was a mattress and screwed up bedding. It was disgusting. Due to my parents not being confident drivers, by the time they got to the location to start their holiday it was too dark for them to drive home so they stayed the night. They left immediately the next day and called Quality Cottages to explain what had happened and that they had already left to head home, the lady my mum spoke to apologised and asked her to send her grievances and photos via email, which I did for my mum when she arrived home, in total there were 67 photographs. My mum then chased the Fiona, the manager for an update, to be told Fiona was on holiday and would be back on the 20th of September. Monday 20th my mum left it till 2:45 to again chase for an update, however Fiona the manager wasn’t in, but my mum was promised a call back – that never happened Tuesday the 21st my mum called again, spoke to a rude woman who said Fiona would call back – guess what? No one called my mum back. Wednesday the 22nd I decided to call and chase this up, spoke to the same woman my mum had spoken to the day before, who again, was rude and full of excuses, I was told that Fiona was very busy with being on holiday and I should see the Fiona’s inbox… (I’m not sure of the relevance to this comment) I was also told due to the year Fiona had she deserved a holiday, which I didn’t dispute, however, my parents and brother too deserved their holiday and unfortunately because of booking through Quality Cottages they didn’t get what they paid for! Spend your money wisely, this company has fobbed my parents off continually, they’ve made excuses and lied, we have now taken this further as I will not let this company rip my parents off.
Avoid at all costs. We had a booking, planned many months in advance. Less than 45 hours before our holiday was due to start we received a call from Quality Cottages to tell us, bluntly, that our holiday was cancelled. The lady we dealt with (apparently the "customer service manager" was evidently in the wrong job as she wasn't interested in listening just talking over me. We were told the person that stayed in our accommodation the week before had made complaints and they had taken the decision to suspend all holidays at the property. This was for our 10th Wedding Anniversary so I was understandably willing to do anything to make a holiday still happen. No alternatives were offered - only searched for when I asked. I contacted the owner of the cottage and arranged to continue the holiday through a private agreement. We went, and can honestly say there was NOTHING wrong with the cottage to prevent a holiday. I am disgusted at our treatment and will never use this company again. I have used Sykes and other companies in the past and will be going back. If you want rude, unprofessional, uncaring staff and short notice cancellation for no valid reason - go ahead and book. Personally I would avoid. The compensation eventually offered was frankly an insult. Interesting to note that all the positive reviews relate to the cottages rented and not the company itself. Speaks volumes as to how they have achieved 4.5/5! In response to the review below..... Very well worded but - 1) I didn't accept or reject the compensation offered.... I merely wanted you to expidite the refund so I could pay for the holiday privately without transferring funds. 2) You only searched for properties (as alternatives AFTER I asked) 3)Your review score is a joke..... Virtually all the reviews relate to the PROPERTY.... Not you as a company. So, my review and comments are correct and I stand by them. I will return to using the more well know and professional companies I have used previous. I just hope others read this and are prepared to be let down.
A beautiful house, well equipped and so comfortable, made our week stay there an absolute pleasure. Saint Florence is a great location from which to explore this part of Pembrokeshire. Lots of lovely beaches to visit, as well as Tenby, St David’s Cathedral and so much more. Such a beautiful area, will definitely return.
We had a very pleasant stay at Bluebell Cottage. There were only two of us in a two-bedroom cottage so there was plenty of room. The dining kitchen is well equipped with lots of worktop space and even a cupboard to put groceries in which isn't always provided in holiday cottages. The double bedroom has a small walk in wardrobe which gave more space in the room. All the woodwork in the cottage has been carried out really well and we loved the stained glass in a couple of doors. We followed the arrival instructions provided which were very useful. However we did drive past the first time. The cottage is the first building on the left after the small hill past the bridge. The cottage is only around 1 mile from the A470 so is very convenient for visiting many parts of North Wales. The only reason we didnt give five stars is that the problems with the boiler and the smell of oil have not yet been sorted. Apparently these issues will be sorted out in October.
The booking was a little confusing as we originally found the cottage via the Last Minute Cottages website. However, having booked the property and with a provisional booking confirmed, we received a telephone call from them saying that they are not the managing agent - Quality Cottages is - and that the cottage was not available for our chosen dates. We then had to go into the Quality Cottages website and start a fresh search. Luckily, we were flexible on our dates but the overall booking experience was not clear. In future, we shall be booking directly with Quality Cottages and not Last Minute Cottages who are solely an advertising site. By the way, Last Minute Cottages were more expensive!!
This is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. The care, attention and generosity of the host is wonderful. We had an amazingly restful time; countryside, beach walking and horse riding. Many, many thanks, Mary & Tony
Fantastic luxury holiday home at a very reasonable price, best we've ever stayed in and would certainly go back if we return to the area. Car essential as you are a couple of miles from the nearest village but plenty to see and do in the local area. Highly recommended!
No 3 Lighthouse Cottages, St Anne’s Head - stunning location, within east reach of Dale. A very well equipped and comfortable cottage, finished to a very high standard. Enjoyed our stay very much!
A great holiday in Serendipity in the beautifully quiet, remote Gwaun Valley. The cottage is well appointed and was lovely and clean. The owner is so friendly and helpful. Our perception was that Serendipity is a bit more overlooked by the owner's house than the photos seemed to show, though this wasn't an issue. The walking from the cottage, and in the area, is fabulous. The local small seaside town of Newport is also wonderful, though further than the 2.2 miles stated. We walked in to Newport from the cottage (for a great meal at the Golden Lion) along the road and it took us an hour an a quarter - it's 3.5 miles +. The walk to the Dyffryn Arms, through the woods, is also worthwhile but a similar distance/time on foot (again, further/longer than stated).
A fantastic holiday house with the most spectacular views. There is so much to do in the area (walking, beach, visiting castles, golf, zip lines and more) but quite honestly, the house is so wonderful you don’t want to travel too far from “home”. The house is really clean, well equipped and extremely well laid out. It was great to be able to walk down to the beach and also into Harlech. Harlech is hilly and the house is set into the hill, so take note of the information on the website. We had such a brilliant week that we have already booked again for next year!
Rang through to check about insurance. Quickly delt with in a very friendly way.

Sep 26,2021Just returned from two wonderful weeks at Beach House Cottage . Absolutely beautiful cottage immaculately presented in an amazing location . It has loads of space and everything you could need for a fabulous holiday . Go across the quiet lane in front of the cottage, through a small gate and there it is a large decking area with a lovely , cosy summer house , right on the water ! BBQ's are amazing on there , it's so peaceful and quiet , just watching the boats bob by (I even fished from it) The cottages location is perfect for exploring Pembrokeshire, both North and South (and a short walk to the Ferry House Inn ) The best thing I can say about Beach House Cottage is it instantly felt like a home not a holiday rental ! We've already booked for 2023 ! Quality Cottages again made the booking experience easy and stress free , so thanks to them ! Can't wait to go back !
