Ordered a cab which arrived promptly, two doors down the road (correct address given), but ok. Claimed he didn't know Donnington Bridge was closed, which even I had noticed before, but not remembered late at night and tired. Then said he didn't know the other road was closed, near Old Abingdon road, then circled back there again. I asked about GPS, no definite answer was given. He then took me all the way up Woodstock road then down A34 to Botley. So normally going from Iffley road to Botley Road is ~£10, this time it was £48, not to mention that I needed to sleep, and this journey took 40mins instead of 10. If there are significant closures tell the customers and show them the GPS route. Seriously?! I've literally taken a taxi in the UK 3 times in the last 10 years and probably never again, I'd rather die.

My visiting Italian friends took a Royal Cars taxi from Gloucester Green bus station to Marston and were charged £50!!!! They had just arrived in the UK and did not realise in the moment that they were being ripped off so badly. What happened to the meter?? Absolutely shameful and shocking to be charged so much. I sm so embarrassed by the way my guests were treated. They then phoned to book a Royal Cars from one end of Marston Ferry Road to the start of Jericho. Again they were quoted £50!! Luckily we could arrange a last minute lift. I can’t believe it happened again. I used to like Royal Cars but you have lost my respect and loyalty. I hope the council ban this kind of exploitation from local companies. Shame on you.

Writing on behalf of my cousin who I booked the taxi for. It was an airport run in bad weather and bad traffic. The driver managed to reroute and find a faster journey which she was very grateful for. Thank you.

Having booked well in advance (the previous day) the car phoned me to say it would be with me in 30-25 minutes, which would have meant missing my train. Not good enough.

We were visiting in Oxford from US. I had a work commitment in Oxfordshire. Driver Saj driver of car 118, picked us up promptly and courteously. My stomach and GI system were badly messed up. About 3/4 of the way, in our 1.5 hour journey, I was desperate to use a bathroom. Saj was so incredibly kind and went out of his way to find a place to stop, arrange with the proprietor to let me use the bathroom even though we did not buy anything, and waited patiently. He truly prevented an embarrassing emergency, with respect, speed and immense kindness. We arranged with our hosts that he would be our return driver as well. This time to London. Saj took the time to help us find our rather hard to find hotel, and get us safely delivered and checked in there. I am a 69 year old woman. These far and above acts of kindness go a very long way with me. I happily recommend Oxford Cars and Car 118 Saj, who I consider an angel! Thank you Saj! Hope to see him again!
