unreal shop great
Everything is so expensive. The quality and quantity of food per package are suboptimal. The choice of food especially vegetables, fruits, and meat is too little. It's just not a great place for grocery shopping.
I write specifically with regard to the Spar shop in Nethy Bridge near Aviemore, Scotland. We visit this area quite often and as expected, the local shop from time to time. Our visits to this shop have never been excellent let’s say. I don’t know if it a simple case of ‘their not local’ so let’s not be approachable or pleasant. I really do not think that people like this ought to be in a business that requires positive interaction with other humans. Shopping, no matter where, ought to be a pleasant experience. I have nothing particularly against Spar shops in general. They may be a little pricey, but you pay for convenience. So for Nethy Bridge Spar, significant improvement required. I will not be holding my breath!
As a former Blakeney Resident I have to say Spar are hopeless and too dam expensive! When I grew up in the village in the high street we had S Loose and son Butchers, Roger Breeze Fishmongers, Joe Browns greengrocer and down the street was Haywards Supermarket with the Post Office as Bill Hayward gave you great deals then the Anchor Shop and Barclay's Bank it is where you had everything you needed in the village! That's tragicly history as Tate's are hopeless as I left the village in 2006 and I'm never coming back!!
All spar stores are well overpriced. Cheap poor quality brands that cost more than top brands in most shops. I can bet BP are losing money, I personally wouldn't want my business associated with spar after seeing the reviews. Now on to the website, the whole thing pointless. Firstly as shows what most stores stock but try finding it in store. Secondly there is no prices for what you may find in store if your lucky. I can only guess this is due to the overpriced items. I do like to waste my time travelling and fuel to see if they have what I'm looking for. Nothing beats the journey home after you leave the store empty handed or sore from just having it stuck right up you. The website is outdated and whoever's started it lost the will to live going for a very long lay down. Up until now the website remains unfinished with no prices. Probably best to leave here.
Every time I go in to the spar shop in docking Norfolk I get special offers and 9 times out of 10, they charge me to much, be very careful cos think they are on the take
Bought reduced cajun chicken from Spar Worthing was supposed to be used by Today thank you Spar no dinner for me tonight it was covered in mould. Do not buy from here.
Bought bottled still water from a shop in Manchester. There own brand yuk tastes awful and the bottle looked kind of old plastic. A brown tinge around the top and on the bottom. Should have stuck to a brand like volvic.
Expensive Stock levels rubbish Staff Rubbish
Spar Garthamlock....lassies are brilliant.
Bearly got the stock you want and there prices are ridiculously high they charge more than double for stuff that any other shop somethinv should be done about this.
Have used our local Spar for over 15 years, and have also used many other Spar outlets throughout the UK (mostly in Scotland). I regularly bring Scottish bank-notes home (many given in change at Scottish Spar shops!!), and have never had a problem spending them in England. Yesterday, when I presented a Scottish £10 note at my local Spar, I was told they no longer accept Scottish notes. There were no signs warning of this new policy, and I felt like a criminal. Needless to say I will spend my £200 to £300 per month elsewhere.
This shop has such happy smiley staff who politely great you as you enter, it is well stocked for everything you need for self catering, fresh bread, fresh fruit, veg, salad, cheese and meat counter, wines, spirits and an array of tinned items & snacks, well worth a visit if you need anything & not expensive!!
Mill hill blackburn spar is great, place is always well stocked, clean and tidy. And the staff are always happy and helpful. I love shopping there.
Spar is always open when you need something, very friendly staff and great service. Where else can you buy something on a Sunday evening at just a few pence extra to save the day eh? Perfect 5 Stars.
A couple of years ago I purchased a tub of spar's potato salad. On opening it I found the potatoes were totally raw and uncooked, so complained to spar giving details of product code, use by date etc. Never heard back from them after the initial acknowledgement, no explanation, no apology, no refund. Either their complaints staff are too busy with faulty products to actually investigate, or the company just doesn't take perfectly justifiable criticism seriously. Never buy their own label products nowadays, suggest others follow suit. The only reason I stll go there is that the owner and staff are such nice people that they shouldn't have to suffer for Spar's appalling standards of service.
Jason venn at the spar shop in Buckfastleigh Devon is a very rude man, I have no idea why he is working there. The owner is a lovely lady but she needs to get rid of that rude, odious individual as he is costing them a lot of business, I won't be back and I have been using the same garage since I was 17. I am now 46
Visited the car wash had the money at expensive cycle which whilst I was handing over the payment was told was very good .... It was so pathetic as to not even remove birdcrap ! It actually looked worse after apart from the wheels looking slightly better . Went to complain and was told to come back and talk to the manager tomorrow so rang customer service , no one available so hung up on me . Don't waste your time and money
not a great selection with very expensive products. that might not be so bad if you are desperate , but throw in a terrible shop assistant on the phone to her mum in pakistan who ignores you and that really is the last straw. avoid like the plague. plenty of long term local shops nearby much more worthy of your custom

Feb 13,2020I sent an email to Spar Support in early August to complain about the treatment I received at the Spar Shop in the garage at Troutbeck Bridge in Windermere when I returned some mouldy jam. They replied on the 8th August to say that they had passed my complaint onto the regional Distribution centre James Hall. On the 9th September, I had not received a reply so I wrote again to Spar Headquarters. They replied saying that they would chase James Hall. On the 3rd January, I had still not received a reply so I wrote again to Spar Headquarters. They replied saying that they would chase James Hall. Here we are now on the 13th February and I still havnt receive a reply from either of them. Just Pathetic!
