Jan 06,2023Writer was very good and followed outline to the letter and managed to have the desired tone. We worked well together. The editor is where this all went wrong; he added more mistakes than corrected. I had to edit it all myself and had to keep rechecking with any slight alteration in case additional errors were made. TUW tried being helpful but had the incorrect version edited. The illustrations used are disappointing, something we could do ourselves (obtain copyright free images from the internet). The formatting was terrible, keeping an illegible table and words cut off from figure heads? I had to keep checking everything and any suggestions would require an additional fee or reformatting for a different size book...well, if a table can't be read, surely the size of the book will have to change rather than keep it illegible. I felt it could have been dealt with more professionally.

Dec 21,2022The admin team and the freelancers were responsive and helpful to my requests. The platform is still a bit difficult to review and post comments while the ghostwriter writes the manuscript. I wish the platform was like Microsoft Word where you could post comments/revise the manuscript and that edits are color-coded; thus, you could easily spot what changes are made.

Dec 19,2022I did not have a good experience with my writer, though she was rated as premium tier with good reviews. Her writing was mediocre and unpredictable, and I revised almost the whole book. That said, the admin was very helpful and did offer to find me a new writer once they became aware of the problem and also worked with me to get the best outcome. I will actually use them again, but will be more proactive about contacting admin earlier when I have trouble with the writer- and I will also choose a lower tier writer who is maybe less set in their style and willing to write in the way I need.

Dec 19,2022My first time using this service. The process was somewhat confusing. Never sure which each items are included in each bundle purchased, the purchase order reciept is not detailed. Or what is the next step in the process based on my orders. Also I should have been able to see clearly to see the details of each order modify the details of my order without cancelling and initiating a new order. TUA defintely has some talented freelancers and Admin always provided great commnunication to my questions. Probably would use again.

Dec 18,2022Pros: - The tier system for talent to hire is great and very clear. Profiles are usually robust and have a good amount of samples of people’s work. - Customer service is very pleasant and helpful. I had a 40-min zoom meeting after having much confusion/difficulty in figuring out the order process and this gentleman answered every single one of my questions. - They provide a good amount of training videos to show you how to use the platform. Cons: - I was told by one of the writers that meeting outside of the platform is not allowed (ie via zoom), so you don’t get a sense of the person that you may be hiring to ghostwrite, etc. When it comes to that, I believe that chemistry does matter and it would be helpful to be able to meet the person for a brief 15-20 min meeting before committing to hiring them. - The platform is confusing for a first time user - could be more user-friendly. The various videos don’t necessarily explain some of the nuances of the ordering process. - The platform is “buggy” and makes it difficult to check messages or work status from the notification areas on the mobile. At times, I would find a roundabout way of getting my messages, write out a response and then it wouldn’t send it (stuck in loading mode). There should be a dedicated phone app to help correct this issue. - Most of the talent that you reach out to or invite to a project don’t even respond, and this is mostly occurring with their premier level writers, probably because they are the most busy. If a writer hasn’t logged in for three weeks or a month, they should not be allowed to display themselves as “available immediately”, and then not respond to an invite for a project. It’s not only unprofessional behavior, it’s just plain rude. All we need is a simple response to let us know that we should either move on or that they are interested but will not be available until “x” date. - You can’t easily find (at least I couldn’t) the rates for the individual offerings. This is particularly important when you are tipping and want to tip based on a percentage basis. I had to “start a new order” so that I could see the individual packages, and now getting daily reminder emails with “Psst, looks like you forgot something” to remind me to finish the order that I only opened so that I could see the prices of the work done so that I can tip appropriately. I think that if they did a better job of addressing these issues, the customer experience would be a world better and they would be #1 in their field. I will be checking out other platforms for future projects though, so that I can compare.

They put a great deal of effort and care into writing and editing my book, couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! I will definitely be back in the future! Dec 16,2022Being new in the publishing business, I needed a little “hand - holding” to navigate the process. My writer, editor and administrator were very patient and helpful. The finished product was far better than what I could have produced myself. I enjoyed reading the book. It will be a good purchase for many people, I hope. I got confused finding the messages, particularly during the review process. We didn’t all grow up with technology.

Dec 15,2022On 10/10/22 I submitted my first order for a ghostwriter after paying for the premium package to Urban Writers. I paid extra to be sure I got one of the better writers on their team. After reviewing the work of the first writer assigned to my project I loved the writer's style and professional writing ability. Unfortunately, 2 weeks later I found out the ghostwriter was no longer with the company. After losing 2 weeks of writing time, on 10/25/22 a new writer accepted the project and begin writing on the book. On 11/02/22 I contacted the admin team for Urban Writers because my project was only 20% done after almost a full month of UW having the project. I also wanted admin to be aware that after reviewing the new writer's work, I found half of the book was in Spanish. Admin responded and stated they would discuss this with the writer. Upon later review, I saw that the book was still part in Spanish & part English. This mix continued until I received a notice from the writer that the book was complete on 11/18. When I went in to review the work I found it still had areas in both languages. I contacted the writer and he changed it all to English. I tried reading the book but was unable to make any sense of the majority of the paragraphs throughout the chapters. It reads just like a book that was written in one language and translated with software to a different language. There is no flow at all. The book is also jammed full of repetitions and has the same phrases such as "without a doubt" used repeatedly throughout the book. I thought maybe after the book was edited that maybe it would be fixed. After the editing, I was so frustrated by Urban Writers by this time that I went ahead and had the order marked as fulfilled. I simply couldn't trust the Urban Writers with another one of their writers. So here I am after paying UW hundreds of dollars, doing my own writing. There are simply too many areas to correct to call it editing. Urban Writers does not appear to have a quality control team in place because there is no way a professional writing company could allow such a badly written book to be shipped as this one was. In my mind, Urban Writers must not care about the quality of their work. They deserve zero stars.

Jan 07,2023This company truly stands behind their word. I say their integrity has placed them way above others. I was off to a rough start with a ghost writer that disappeared. Worth paying for premium packages. I got another ghostwriter and their work was not TUW standards so I had to get a 3rd writer. I spent several months with the first 2 writers. However, the 3rd writer, editor, copy writing, formatting, book cover, admin and the process there after was smooth and educating. The platform is a little confusing at first but I learned enough to get me through. I feel not being able to have a voice conversation is not at all enjoyable. All communication is text and dm. I feel this is one of the things the programs lack especially when there is a major issue like I encountered. I found TUW to be professional, kind, quick to respond and able to answer and solve any question or problem I had. All in all I would give them a 5 star plus rating.
