They were much better than other services that I tried in the past who didn't call who didn't text and who didn't call back Varsity tutor continue to not only make sure that I got what I was looking for but also more and I love Varsity tutor for their service they're the best

Dec 02,2024The company has made up for their short-comings! After this review (see below), they immediately called me to set up a phone discussion. They listened compassionately and did refund all of my money for the second month. I am more than happy with the outcome. I am up-ing the starts to 3 stars because, even though their response time and remedy was great, it should have not come to that. It should have been solved the first time my daughter called them. Again, we are not unhappy with the program, just the transparency of the pricing and monthly billing. Thanks, Varsity Tutor, for the solution! Kelly This company is not at all transparent - it is almost a scam!! My daughter needed a university level physics tutor and did get one, but the company was not at all clear about the fact that she would be paying per month. She thought she was getting 4 hours of tutoring for $319.00, but that was per month. She spread out the 4 hours over 2 months and was charged each month. Now, I say almost a scam, because the Terms were emailed to her and within it it did say that it's a monthly charge, but on the phone with the seller it was very unclear. She phoned about a refund and was spoken to very rudely. She was then told it would be refunded next month, but the woman never actually did it. She called another number and a man did finally do it for her, however, it is only an email saying it's cancelled. She will have to cancel her card, as we don't trust they won't charge us regardless. You know it's a shady business when you can't find out how to cancel on their website!! Live and Learn...

Dec 01,2024I called Varsity Tutors because my Senior needed help with her SAT. They have been Amazing and paired my daughter with a wonderful teacher. My daughter feels confident about taking the exam and she has scheduled her exam for next week. We were very lucky to have Linda, my daughter has learned a lot and it shows in her Calculus Class! If you pay for the SAT through Blue Book, you get FREE practice tests AND FREE question reviews for the questions you missed, with guidance on how to solve and why a question was wrong. Combined with Khan Academy SAT prep/videos, this is far superior to Varsity Tutors and only costs you the price of the test itself. The tutors use the same practice tests from Blue Book, and you only see the same practice questions repeatedly. Not to mention, if you do not use all of your hours, they do not roll over and are lost.

The platform itself was quite supportive, whether through the effectiveness of customer service or the learning styles of their prominent tutors. The standards here at Varsity Tutors are set and maintained efficiently. While some factors were restricting, such as the specific hours, I thoroughly enjoyed my journey with varsity tutors.

Nov 30,2024Update: Varsity Tutors contacted me and offered me a refund for the past two months. Even though I am still disappointed that we couldn't find a good tutor (reliable and committed), I am very happy with how Varsity Tutors reacted to my dissatisfaction. They called me to fully understand the situation, really listened to my perspective, and refunded the monthly fee, even though I never asked to be refunded. Again, their platform and customer service are great. I only have an issue with the reliability and quality of the tutors. I have updated my review to 3 starts to acknowledge their commitment to the customer. Great platform, terrible and unreliable tutors. In 2 months I had 3 IB AA Math tutors who were not committed or overly aggressive. Varsity Tutors must not have a vetting process or contractual arrangements that support reliable services. The customer service representative actually said they have not control over the tutors and their reliability!…?? It feels that the company has invested most of their time and energy on creating a great customer response platform, but the quality of the tutors is horrible. My son has had regular tutors for over 10 years now and this is the worst experience, and the most expensive, we have encountered. I am taking the time to write this review so other parents will not waste money on a company that puts convenient tech communication over quality tutors and results. I have wasted 1000 USD for two months with no results. The tutors cancel within 24 hours (even for the first session that two weeks to set up). You are required to use 8 sessions a month or you lose them—a monthly expiration of sessions. When the tutors cancel it is very hard to try to “fill in” the void…with again ineffective lessons. Why should I be penalized when the tutors cancel on our regular schedule.

As I was making the payment I was promised things that I did not actually get… like questions/material to study from… I felt like I was being pushed to buy more and more sessions without actually knowing what I am paying for. Then I signed up, matched with a tutor(that was good) but the live session that you guys hold was a week after I signed up, which then got canceled because the tutor didn’t attend as me and 12+ students were signed on and waiting (before purchase I was told 1 tutor per 3-4 students every review session) Honestly, I paid over 2500 when my exam in in less than 30 days and it’s been two weeks since I decided to sign up to varsity tutors and literally haven’t benefited from you guys still. I hope I can get my money back.

Nov 27,2024I’m was so excited for this program as it seems amazing. The tutor provided was great. The issue I have is I explained my student didn’t think she could do well virtually. I thoroughly discussed this concern with the sales person to which she assured me we could cancel up to a week before our next appointment and walk away. That is not the case. Their terms say one thing but the sales pitch said another. Be cautious when signing up with them.

This tutor planned tutoring sessions which were relevant to the topics I needed to learn. This tutor also continuously checked to make sure that I was understanding the concepts being taught. The company, Varsity Tutors, was able to provide a tutor who is knowledgeable and experienced.
