RETHINKING WINE DRINKING When in Rome is here to make drinking wine as much fun as it is in Italy. We bring you high quality craft wines at great value, whilst all the time minimising our impact on the environment.
Brilliant service, quick delivery, fabulous wine.
Super fast delivery of great quality products. Lovely presentation.
I am a big fan of the paper bottled wines - which are great to drink and make lovely gifts - so light and eco-friendly. Unfortunately my latest order got damaged in transit - but the speed of customer service from WIR was amazing - two days later I had a replacement shipment - in perfect condition. Sometimes when things go wrong outside your control it is the speed and depth of response which shows the real quality of a business. Nice work - cheers!!
Excellent service and great product
Everything very efficient
UPDATE: An unexpected consequence of my last (3 star) review (below) was direct contact by email from When In Rome’s supply-chain manager, explaining their strategic move away from the wine-in-a-box format in favour of cans and paper bottles, apologising for the logistics lapse that occurred around my last order, and offering compensation. His lengthy personal response was appreciated, foremost because it didn’t and doesn’t suggest a business that has grown indifferent to the experience and opinions of their customers — something increasingly common in online commerce. I respect their decision to move towards different packaging formats, and while I am unlikely to make canned wine a feature in my life (notwithstanding the unquestionably excellent recoverability ratios of aluminium, the percentage of packaging to product and energy requirement for recycling are both too high, in my view), paper bottles are new to me and merit examination. Perhaps I’ll read up on their sustainability parameters while sampling their contents when I next order. * Original Review * I've been ordering from When in Rome for around 2 years now, and I have to say, unfortunately standards seem to be slipping. The range on offer is not what it initially was, and while I get that they work with smaller suppliers with limited production, I'd expect their buyers to be conscious of this and try to discover growers to showcase tomorrow. Their logistics also appear to be deteriorating, too: fewer updates and slower deliveries.
Fantastic service, easy to use and quick dispatch/receipt
I don’t know why it has taken so long for me to realise what a good idea Sparkling wine in a can is! Just perfect for 1 (or 2) if nobody wants to join you in opening a bottle. Really tasty wine, light, refreshing.
Love the Primitivo cans! Never thought a red in a can could be so good. Very fruity and definitely beyond my expectations for the wine in a can. Also the packaging looks stunning, took a case to a friend’s party and they absolutely loved them.
Delicious wine and prompt delivery. Great to have this coming once a month, what a treat!
Very quick delivery and great service. Pinot Grigio bottles are as great as last time. Will keep ordering!
No response is the worst customer service. I made the same enquiry three times. If it's not possible, we'd like to let us know so.
Easy ordering, delivery on time and great wine as always. This was bought for a gift.
Easy to order, quick delivery. Easy drinking wine.
So easy to order. The delivery was really quick and we were kept informed all the time. Lovely wine too. Thanks. Will definitely be ordering again.
Very speedy delivery and lovely pecorino - best I have tasted!!
Quick delivery. Package was well packed and handled!
Great customer service and help for my Ecotricity gift for loyalty to that company. Such a great surprise. I have now opened and tried one of the wine boxes and it is delicious. This could be the way forward for me as when I open a bottle of wine I spend 6 days drinking it and not at its best. With an Eco box of wine, I read that it will keep for 6 weeks. A great idea for those living on their on or infrequent drinkers.
Was a quick buy and didn't read it properly so my fault. It looks like a bottle but it is not. Greenwashing. How is it better for the environment to have an only semi recyclable bottle they have to a fully recyclable bottle in the long run? Yes lighter can equal less c02, but so can local markets, organic growing etc. And then there is the disposal, where only the paper is recycled, leaving something that just goes to landfill. What a waste. Saves them money more like. Am guessing leaching happens too from the soft container. Gutted wasted my money as it did not taste good. It tasted like those wines you buy in boxes. Yuck. If I wanted to drink wine out of the bag, I would buy one of those boxes. Why make it look like a wine bottle? It is what it is. Again it does say it clearly on the label, my fault for not reading it properly.
