Beautiful cottage with everything you would need for your stay and more. Lovely homely feel. Exceptionally clean. Lovely touch of bread, jam and milk on arrival!
Great company with superb properties on their list. Information flow excellent making for a first class customer experience. Would definitely use Bolthole Retreats again !
One of the best breaks I’ve ever been on, absolutely idyllic surroundings in such a peaceful place. The shepherds hut had everything you could need and it was so comfortable and cosy. Even the rainfall shower was fabulous, our little dog absolutely loved the nearby walks. We didn’t want to leave, a truly magical experience that we may have to do again.
We booked Chestnut Cottage for a long weekend to attend the Fantasy Forest Festival at Sudely Castle. It was easy to book and the cottage itself was gorgeous, we had a lovely time and felt spoilt in the luxury in the facilities of Chestnut Cottage. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.
Extremely well presented and fresh cottage. Everything provided that we would need for our stay. Kitchen well equipped. Very comfortable bedrooms. Good, powerful showers. Property in an excellent position for visiting Cheltenham or disappearing into the picturesque countryside for a drive or walk.
We stayed here the night before my wedding and it was the perfect setting. Comfortable beds, spacious home, beautiful views.
The time restriction to the pool was a nonsense The floor upstairs which was the living room creaked really bad restricted our movements when guest’s were in bed sleeping downstairs The living room was very hot unbearable when it was sunny as x2 skylights caused this could not open especially at night. Otherwise cottage pleasing to the eye. Clean and comfortable.
The property was clean The view was lovely The bed and pillows were comfortable There was an issue with shower drainage and no dishwasher tablets (as advertised) we contacted the property manager Claire and she responded to us quickly- we were impressed with her customer service There was music playing on Saturday all night in one of the sheds next to the barn on the Saturday night which we were not expecting and would have cancelled the property had we been informed prior to our arrival. We had to keep all the windows closed- on a hot night.
The house was absolutely incredible Immaculate, Clean, new, well laid out, linen, location, parking area in fact every thing was just 100 percent perfect Peter the owner was very helpful and knowledgeable FULLY recommend
Absolutely beautiful cosy little cottage. In a great location. Pub and a cafe only a 2 minute walk. We loved all the quirky trinkets and paintings. Has a lot of character. Beds very comfortable. Host was excellent.
The cottage was Reality beautiful and the location too. Problems : no explanation about how to use fridge, tv and shower which made the first days not nice. Bed not comfortable.
What a lovely property. I would highly recommend it to anyone for a relaxing Cotswolds stay. Lydia and Clive couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. Their farm is very well kept with amazing views, the house is perfect and had plenty of space for 5 Adults and 2 children. It was a perfect break.
Amazing house in a wonderful town. Checkin was easy. The house was in great condition and very welcoming!!
The barn is spacious; clean and well-maintained. Given it is set on a farm with horses, cows and chickens it was relatively quiet! The people on the farm were friendly and helpful. It is located just off the A46 but in an out-of-the-way location. Would recommend.
The property was not as described with the freezer iced over, mould above and in the shower, paint peeling on the shelf in the kitchen and front room, and everything a bit dark and dingy. Very good location
Nice property with good finishes and appliances but overpriced compared to similar properties in much higher cost locations (central London, Caribbean etc.). Also - not private - the Barn End means that there are other apartments (updated for clarity: residential dwellings/homes populated by people) in the rest of the barn. The neighbors overlook both the front and rear gardens - and I could watch and hear them mowing their lawn.
Great location for exploring the Cotswold. Stephen the host is friendly but not intrusive, it’s nice to know he is in hand.
Almost everything about this place is fabulous. Despite being so close to the Gloucester town center, the lakeside cottage is an untouched and unexplored gem in the Cotswolds. The picturesque view right outside your window includes lakes surrounded by hills, as if someone had painted them there. There was even a bird's nest, which was like the cherry on top. The interior of the house is perfect for two families, with almost everything you need, including WiFi. However, the best feature of the house is the restrooms—they are massive and spacious. The house is decorated in a charming Victorian style and includes a collection of books, CDs, a hearth, and a television. If you are a book lover, don’t miss the chance to read the homeowner's authored books—yes, Peter is a writer himself. In fact, this place can inspire the writer in you if you stay long enough. I’m glad I found this place and look forward to returning very soon.
Lovely Cottage in beautiful area.

Jul 30,2024Stunning cottage in a beautiful location! I didn't get to meet the owners of Bill's Cottage but they were so accommodating for our first weekend away with our newborn. The cottage has everything you need & more. It was super clean, homely with lots of special extra touches. Would recommend to others and plan to stay again!
