Would never buy Bighams due to cost but as poorly partner shopped and bought 2 Bighams to save me cooking! The Coq au Vin for 2 was all carrot 1/2 mushroom and 4 chicken bites each. Still needed 25 minutes cooking for £9.50. Then I had individual Fish Pie £6 whilst OH had Lidl ribs. My fish pie needed 25 mins at 200' in the oven as you could not microwave (rack of ribs 4 mins in micro). As with above all mash and very little fish. For the price you would expect a prawn or 3. As you needed some veg with it to make a meal it had to be scraped out the 'upmarket' paper liner in the wooden carton onto a plate. The taste was ok but Tesco finest and even basic fish pie is tasty at a fraction of the price and microwaveable! Bighams are aiming for an 'upmarket' experience with their packaging, price and appearing 'eco' yet 25 mins @ 200' for a small single meal in this energy saving world is not acceptable. The tree killing trays do not easily compost so have to go in food bin. This brand needs a rethink. 'Ready Meals' are quick instant gratification. It is not ready if you have to cook for 25 minutes and certainly doesnt save energy. Give them their due i got vouchers for the Coq missing au Vin with no quibble. I will try spending them on something with less cooking.
YOU MUST GO AND TRY THE DISHES, THEY ARE JUST DELICIOUS. "AWARD WINNING CHICKEN MADRAS IN MY EYES 👀" KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
If you want a quick delicious dessert, then look no further than Charlie Bigham's Cherry Bakewell pudding - now that's a proper pud ! Just like my mum used to make and with loads of cherry sauce ! Mmmmm !
I tried your lasagne today as I was away from home on business. It was very nice - herby, rich and deeply savoury. It was so easy to get it out of the packaging too. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
What can I say or where do I start ? I eat these meals quite regularly and every time i am amazed at the quality and taste. Some ppl have said to me in the past “they are quite pricey for a ready meal” my counter argument is this “but you’ll happily spend 20.00 on a takeaway or 15.00 on maccies” then they agree. A few lads have now started eating the meals as we do a lot of working away and agree they are awesome.
Each time I buy Charlie Bighams food it seems to get more delicious by the week just as if I have home cooked them myself The flavours, quantity and ingredients
Until recently Chicken tikka masala has been my go to favourite on a weekly no cooking evening . The quality of the chicken has really deteriorated. At first I thought it was just a blip. However it’s now been three “blips “and I’m no longer a fan and won’t be buying it again .I will not be convinced the quality of chicken hasn’t been changed …the proof was in the eating .
Charlies new Chicken Madras is top drawer; seriously tasty, rich and flavoursome! Well worth trying if you haven’t already - my new favourite and I’m usually a korma girl!
I have been a massive fan of the CB lasagne but the most recent helping was a huge disappointment. Has the recipe changed recently?
Chicken Madras … Chicken Madras OMG it tastes like I was eating something from a Five Star restaurant… you have to try it the flavours explode in your mouth .. it’s the most awesome Ready Meal dish I have ever tasted ! B
We're a regular customer to the Charlie Bingham' section of our supermarket, not only as a treat at home, but we like to include the convenience of a ready meal when we're away in our motorhome. We recently found their Smoked Haddock Gratin which we found absolutely on the mark! Lovely generous pieces of fish in an excellent sauce and both agreed to give this a deserving thumbs-up - a well done from us
Excellent coq au vin … beautifully creamy potato , tender flavoursome meat and a rich velvety sauce. One of the only supermarket ready meals you could pass off as home made ! Well done
The flavours are superb so easy to cook and a real authentic taste I highly recommend Charlie binghams dishes. Very good value and plenty on the plate.
First Charlie Bigham dish I've tried. It was so salty I couldn't finish it. Never again!
The best, ready meal out there!
Always like the cauliflower cheese but lately have found a lot of stalks. They are very hard, can't cut them and it spoils it as half goes to waste
We have been buying these meals quite frequently, we find they're well presented in ready to cook cartons..which you can use again.. the food you cannot fault any of them, so fresh and very very tasty.. £9.50 but you get the quality so we don't mind!! nice when offers are on though...haha😋😋😁😁
delicious pie, plenty of filling and beautifully presented in a ceramic pot, will definitely recommend.
I had tried the chicken korma and pilau rice for the first time on Tuesday evening and WOW! It is nicer than a takeaway!! It is so fresh and the portion size is amazing! Normally curry's don't have much flavour as a korma but oh my it was amazing! Even the packaging makes it look so unique!

May 19,2024Chicken and ham gratin. Recently purchased(saved cooking) absolutely delicious restaurant quality product. Really generous portions and for me easily two mains and a lunch. The chicken was tender and the sauce sublime. No hesitation recommending
