Dec 07,2022Bad experience all around with Mashroom. Landlords and tenants, beware! The first strike was when they forgot to collect my rent for three months and didn’t notice until several months later. My landlord had to contact me himself, when he realized that his bank account was overdrawn! The problem was never even acknowledged by Mashroom. I doubt they even noticed! The second strike was when my lease ended, and Mashroom offered me a reward of one week’s rent to manage the viewings. The problem was, Mashroom offered this reward without ever clearing it with the landlord! The landlord rightly refused to pay, since he hadn’t approved it, and Mashroom also refused to pay, which meant that I was essentially tricked into doing their work for them for free. When I called to complain they were rude and dismissive, which lines up with the other times I had to contact them for repairs, etc. They are barely a property management company – they are essentially just a website that collects rent and then outsources all the real work to others. And they’re not even competent at that! My experience with Mashroom, unfortunately, is all too typical of the way they run their business. They offer the minimum possible service, leaving landlords and tenants to pick up the pieces.
