Very comprehensive information and help given to policy uptake
Landlords beware!!! After initially buying into this company ethos and recommending them to many friends who were buying rental properties, I am incredibly disappointed to find that they are not what they first seemed! They offer your tenant a 'deposit replacement scheme'. This is a fraction of what the regular deposit would be, but it is under the agreement that it will not be returned at the end of the tenancy. They advertise to landlords that they do not charge a fee for using the platform (rent collection and document storage), explaining that they make their money from the additional products that they sell, such as insurance and inventories (which I purchased as I recognised that they did need to make money somehow!). All good so far. Until, two years down the line and the tenant wants to remain in the property and the contract needs to be extended. Mashroom then casually drop in that they are now charging 2-5% for 'rent collection' services (BACS which is free in the UK). There was no advance warning and there is no other option than to stay with Mashroom and pay the additional fees or leave Mashroom and ask the tenant for a second deposit so that I can fulfil my legal obligations of the DPS.
Nikki understood my requirements from the initial call and provided a competitive call, there were cheaper quotes I received else where, however the cover provided was more suitable for me.

The dashboard was sort of difficult for me (I'm a technophobe), but the staff are quite helpful in assisting you navigate the process. Tayla in particular, was extremely patient. Thank you. The prompts for all the legal documentations was great for me, kept me out of trouble and the different support services were helpful in ensuring things went smoothly. Great company to work with.
Griffin are a great online agent. They have software that is easy to use and the pricing system is fair and flexible. They help quickly if you have questions and their photographer is very professional and produces good photos. You handle all the interaction with prospective buyers yourself so it’s easy to control in the way you want.

Great service - straight to the point - big saving
My Mum has used Mashroom in the past and suggested I contacted them about rent protection. Sunny Channa made the process of buying rent protection really easy, he's calm, polite and very informative. Mashroom came up almost £50 cheaper than Legal 4 Landlords who I was previously with so was happy about that. I can't comment on the actual cover as I've not needed to use it yet (fingers crossed I never need to) but Sunny made the process of buying it a 5 star experience. Thanks!
