Dec 12,2024I contacted and paid upfront the full fee to take our loved one into their care and also carry out a direct cremation. It was the first funeral I had ever arranged so was inexperienced. I saw farewill and saw that they had 5 star reviews and trusted them to provide a service for our loved one who had passed away at 100 years old. We were guaranteed that collection would be within 3-5 hours however by noon the following day he still hadnt been collected. We waited over 20 hours for them to collect our loved one who had passed away in his sleep and who was still in his bed that he shared with his wife of 74 years. This prevented her from sleeping in her own bed and she had to sleep in a chair in a dining room. The lady had dementia was grieving confused and this added to the trauma of losing the only man she had ever loved. I tried a number of times to contact the organisation over the weekend by phone and email but got no response. We had to contact someone local who came within the hour and provided the dignity and respect this rare old gentleman deserved at the end of his life. We were contacted the following Monday as my emails had been passed onto a manager who ordered an investigation into what had happened. She rang to apologise however the damage had been done. I'm hoping Farewill will learn from this awful incident, put in steps to ensure this does not happen again and put another family what we had to go through. They did reimburse the full payment that I had paid for a service we didn't receive.
