About us The Federation of Master Builders is the largest trade association for the UK construction industry and a not-for-profit organisation that is run by members for members.
Our mission We support small and medium-sized construction companies to grow and manage their business by providing a wide range of support services such as contract templates, unlimited expert advice, online training, and access to a community of fellow professional builders.
Our members must pass an independent inspection and strict vetting process before they join the FMB to ensure they meet the high standards expected of a Master Builder company.
We also connect clients with professional, local builders they can trust through our free Find a Builder service. Our series of ultimate guides for home renovation projects helps clients to understand what to expect during a building project.

Mar 24,2023The FMB exist purely to serve their members. As someone who hired one of their members, had an awful experience and tried to get the help of the FMB to resolve a dispute, they did nothing but waste months of our time before eventually closing our case with thousands of pounds of damages remaining unresolved. If you read a few of the other reviews here, you'll notice a pattern of positive feedback from contractors and negative ones from those who hired an FMB contractor.

Mar 04,2023Contractor Building Inspection: Just had our annual inspection from the Federation of Master Builders. The inspection allows FMB to assess the type of work we are undertaking and the quality of both the site, the scope of our service and the quality of workmanship. With insightful queries and observations from the inspecting team. The inspection was conducted on time and in a thorough fashion. A selection of images was taken of our full scope and this is reflected in our profile. Thanks again for making the process straight forward. The inspector was knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet. Once I’d sent the email the paperwork then followed to say I’d passed the inspection. After weeks of thinking what’s going on. Not good practice
