About us The Federation of Master Builders is the largest trade association for the UK construction industry and a not-for-profit organisation that is run by members for members.
Our mission We support small and medium-sized construction companies to grow and manage their business by providing a wide range of support services such as contract templates, unlimited expert advice, online training, and access to a community of fellow professional builders.
Our members must pass an independent inspection and strict vetting process before they join the FMB to ensure they meet the high standards expected of a Master Builder company.
We also connect clients with professional, local builders they can trust through our free Find a Builder service. Our series of ultimate guides for home renovation projects helps clients to understand what to expect during a building project.

Their insurance products they can offer members is also very competitive. We are independently inspected and therefore this gives potentially customers comfort the mark of trust and quality.

May 25,2021Had a problem with the work completed by a roofing contractor, who were reluctant to rectify the issue. As they were a member of the federation of master builders, I opened a dispute via the FMB website. The day after I opened the dispute, the roofers arrived and carried out the work and made sure I was happy with the work. Really impressed by the speed and effectiveness of the dispute resolution service available with the federation of master builders.

As a member we value highly the access to the latest relevant information and having someone in the membership team who is at the end of the telephone for advice and support. The newly designed website gives anyone planning their next renovation, refurbishment, or new build, a well signposted access to a full range of guides and blogs to help them. And the 'Find a Builder' section is a great way to connect to a local Master Builder.

May 23,2021The FMB have been on Trustpilot since 2018. I estimate FMB members have carried out in excess of 30,000 jobs in this time yet there are only about 50 bad reviews on this site. That is less than 0.2% = 99.8% of customers are either satisfied or very happy with the FMB. Members are regularly notified in our magazine of the members that have been expelled (6 expelled 11/1/21-01/03/21 and other with a complaint against them will be monitored) - so don't believe reviewers that say the FMB don't care. As a member I stongly believe that our organisation is protecting customers whilst representing our members.

May 21,2021We've been a member for 8 years , it was the best thing we did , it gives us that mark of trust and quality , apart from the information, forms, contracts and webinar casts of relevant topics available on line, we have also formed a wales network group, which we can discuss local and national issues which affect us, along with (pre covid) networking social events , We also feel hear in Wales through our Director Ifan Glyn have a voice in the Welsh assembly ,and have been kept up to date with all the guidance re working with covid Diolch Ifan. Our clients like the fact that we are independently inspected, and our insurance status is checked annually, it’s a very good marketing tool

May 21,2021The FMB are a terrible organisation that can't be relied upon. They admitted a company to their membership without conducting proper checks. We used their "Find a Builder" scheme and selected approved FMB Builders who were also Trustmark accredited apparently, and then when the builders ran off with money from, the FMB did absolutely nothing to help nor accept any responsibility.

May 21,2021I am so disappointed with the FMB. Ive had the worst experience with a builder from Swansea RJD Home improvements who is registered with FMB. I have been conned out out thousands of pounds and have had very poor customer support. My home has been left in a disgusting state and all the FMB want to do is close my case. I will avoid theFMB like the plague in future.
