About us The Federation of Master Builders is the largest trade association for the UK construction industry and a not-for-profit organisation that is run by members for members.
Our mission We support small and medium-sized construction companies to grow and manage their business by providing a wide range of support services such as contract templates, unlimited expert advice, online training, and access to a community of fellow professional builders.
Our members must pass an independent inspection and strict vetting process before they join the FMB to ensure they meet the high standards expected of a Master Builder company.
We also connect clients with professional, local builders they can trust through our free Find a Builder service. Our series of ultimate guides for home renovation projects helps clients to understand what to expect during a building project.

FMB work with many industry partners to support small and medium-sized construction companies to manage and grow their business. May 20,2021From my initial meeting with Mark from Cornerhouse Building Contractors it was obvious our vision for a traditional new home was clearly understood. Many of the details we wanted are no longer common practice, but this did not dampen Mark’s enthusiasm. As a member of the Federation of Master Builders we were hopeful that we would achieve a much higher standard of finish on our new home than if we had bought an off the shelf product from one of the large Housebuilders. This ideal was reinforced once we began speaking to owners of previous projects completed by Cornerhouse. Budget was a consideration and Mark was extremely understanding while we worked together on the contract sum. Once work commenced, the Cornerhouse team proceeded with a dedicated and professional approach, giving us confidence the build was in the right hands. My wife regularly worked away and Mark was always ready to meet us at the weekend so she could catch up on progress. A request for our young son to lay a brick was greeted with enthusiasm and accompanied by some easy instruction. The build went very smoothly and requests for additional works not originally included in the contract were readily accommodated. The pride that the team took in the job was no better evidenced than when we were shown step by step photographs of each piece of the stone fire surround being installed. The team were always polite and professional and our new neighbours have commented on how courteous they were. The completed house has exceeded our expectations and visitors praise the quality of the finish both inside and out. Since moving in, passers-by have remarked on how the house looks as though it has always been there. This is what we set out to achieve and it is a testament to Cornerhouse that our ambition has been so fully realised. Mark and the Cornerhouse team should be justifiably proud of what they have achieved with our project and their membership of the FMB further underlines their commitment to the quality they deliver in all areas of a project. We wish them continued success.

The support, advice and up to date information for SME’s during the pandemic has been nothing short of fantastic. I would never consider not being a member of this great organisation and if any builders out there wish to stay ahead in the game my advice is to become a member you would not be disappointed.
