About us The Federation of Master Builders is the largest trade association for the UK construction industry and a not-for-profit organisation that is run by members for members.
Our mission We support small and medium-sized construction companies to grow and manage their business by providing a wide range of support services such as contract templates, unlimited expert advice, online training, and access to a community of fellow professional builders.
Our members must pass an independent inspection and strict vetting process before they join the FMB to ensure they meet the high standards expected of a Master Builder company.

Jun 25,2024I contacted FMB due to an ongoing dispute with S & J Roofing, Bath. I had paid £10,600 for roof front valley gutter renewal & repair to make it watertight - it leaked within 5 months. Despite their supposed 20 year 'guarantee', S & J refused to return to do the necessary work to rectify the problem. I felt that FMB took an impartial stance & considered the facts. Their representative contacted me both by phone and email & always kept me in touch with what was happening at the various stages of their negotiations. It was good to have some support to try to resolve the case. I don't think FMB could have done any more to try to resolve the dispute, faced with complete intransigence on the part of S & J Roofing. I haven't given FMB 5 stars as ultimately they were unable to influence S & J Roofing to act professionally & either return to make the roof valley watertight or offer a part-refund. This resulted in me having to contract another roofing firm at a further cost of £3,500 to make the roof watertight.

Jun 20,2024Have just used Danyi builders from Sutton Coldfield and they were superb. Lovely gents but more importantly great work. They rendered part of my house and were very tidy, quick and great workmanship. Can’t fault the guys at all, would highly recommend and use them again.

Jun 13,2024Used a builder that is a member of the FMB. Overall, very poor experience, lots of lies and excuses, high price, bad work using cheapest materials possible, lack of details everywhere… later their work caused big leaking issues to my bathroom which leads to huge damage to my kitchen ceiling. I hired a plumber to fix the leak, he pointed out some really obvious problems that was due to incorrect parts being used by the member of the FMB, and also incorrect way to install the shower and wall boards, which were all done by the member of the FMB. The member of the FMB ignored me when I contacted them, so I had to go on to complaint to FMB. The member of the FMB simply denied they did the work that was related to the damage, even though it was on their quote and they obviously did the work. They of coursed refused to come back. And even though I provided all the photos and quotes as proofs, FMB still said since the member said they didn’t do the work and refuse to come back, theres nothing they can do. What a waste of time. I mean, what is the point of the FMB for the consumers? To be tricked into believing theres anything good about the members of the FMB? Seriously, avoid if you are a consumer.

May 28,2024We had extensive building work completed at our home by Chase Home Improvements Ltd and there were multiple issues that needed fixing. Over the course of four years, Mark had been promising to rectify the issues, and then would constantly make excuses, such and he had forgotten, had too much work on, was on holiday etc, and then he would move the date. On our contracts I found that this company were members of the Federation Of Master Builders, and on their website you can raise a dispute with a member; which I did. I was then contacted by Dean Schofield at FMB, and he could not have been more helpful, efficient or polite. He took all the relevant details, kept me informed every step of the way, was very thorough and fair, and we actually got some money reimbursed from the builder to rectify our issues. Thank you so much Dean. You truly are a miracle worker! Five stars from me.

The quality of the work was first class and the price was as I expected. The builders were respectful of my property and went above and beyond when cleaning up afterwards.
