I ordered a textbook. I chose to pay 2.5x what the used textbook cost for expedited shipping based on their calculation of when it would arrive. They advertised that if I paid an extra $10, they would have it to me by August 13th-14th. It will NOT be here by the 14th (today). The UPS acceptance scan was after 8pm on the 13th. When I contacted the Knet, they said that I miscalculated and it just needs to be here by the 19th, despite that it was THEIR company that told me the calculation for the arrival date-the 14th. There is no phone number to get ahold of the company. You have to email or text. I texted. They told me it was my mistake despite me sending them a picture of what they promised when I ordered. Once they told me that it was my mistake, they ghosted me and stopped replying. They refuse to refund the extra I paid for expedited shipping. I only bought a book off of this company to get it sooner than I could borrow it FREE from my college. Take my advice: choose a more reputable company! I wish I would have read reviews first! Take it from me and the other 25% that give them 1 star ratings, and don't trust this company. Update: After much trouble contacting the company, I was told that they wouldn't give me a refund for my shipping, and it was my fault I didn't check the service dates (how long it would take for order fulfillment+shipping) despite my showing them that their company was the one who had calculated the arrival date. Later, I tried again and received a message about 12 hours after being ghosted by the first employee. They then explained there was an issue with their computer miscalculating the dates of arrivals for shipping charges. They refunded my shipping charge and told me they had placed a $5 credit on my account that I could use within a year. It was all such a hassle that I'm extremely unlikely to use this company again.

Paid $40 for overnight delivery. Didn’t get it by day 3 so i asked to cancel. They told me i couldn’t cancel because it had been shipped or was ready to ship. Only to say my projected delivery date was another 3 days away. $40 for overnight delivery and it takes an entire night to get to me? Ridiculous.

My order came a little later than expected, but that is understandable. The book on the other hand was packaged very secure except upon opening, the exterior was so dirty as if it has not been touched in years.

This is a fantastic cookbook for the single cook! I have accumulated over 20 targeting “cooking for one”, and this immediately floated to the top of my list!

I initially had no problems with my book. It came in fine, though the box was a bit damaged, the book was in good condition. I noticed there was a pink highlighter mark on the pages but it didn’t deter from the context so I thought it was ok. Now this part is on me, I did not realize I needed to send photos of every little mark that the book had when I received it within 30days of receiving it. When I returned the book, I received an email saying I would be paying full price for it as it was damaged and unusable now. They would either recycle it or I could have the book sent back to me. I messaged the help chat and they told me it was water/liquid damage and they cannot use it now for rentals and I did not send them photos of the highlighter damage before. The employee I was messaging in the chat let said it was liquid/water damage per their supervisor. And when I asked to speak with them, they said the only way to contact them was to have the employee send in a request for me and the supervisor will reach out in 1-2 business days as they do not have the authority to make the change from water/liquid damage to a highlighter mark. It seems pretty sketchy that they would mark something that is clearly a highlighter as water/liquid damage. They are definitely trying to scam people out of their money. I know that if they don’t change it to a highlighter mark and charge me I will be disputing it with my bank and if I have to in court because this is not ok. Going from a $20 book rental to a $100 charge? That is not ok. How do they not have the ability to look at past rentals with that book and check if that mark had already been there or not? It definitely gives off “scam” vibes and I will not be using this service again. It is not worth the hassle. Edit: After putting in a dispute with my bank and waiting 4 business days, I finally received an email from the “supervisor.” They “reviewed” the case and stated that they looked into the records of the book and it was a used book so they were able to issue me a refund. I’m not sure how it being used changed the outcome but at least they did offer the refund. I would suggest if you ever have to use them, take photos of EVERY small mark on the book if there are any and report them within 30 days. It was not worth the hassle I had to go through.

These guys are the worst!! They said the rental I returned was "unusable," and they recycled it without sending me an email to let me know I could purchase the textbook back (they would have had to send it to me if I purchased it back, but they went ahead and threw it away. so how was I supposed to get it???). Only when I called them about the emails I was getting saying they never received my book did they tell me that they actually did receive it, it was damaged, they threw it away, and I had to pay full price. So I paid full price like an idiot because they threw my "unusable" book away (it was perfectly fine) without offering me the option to buy it back. They definitely scammed me and are just renting out my book and making me pay full price for it like a sucker. Anyway, rent elsewhere.

Knetbooks is generally reliable for standard textbooks, however, for niche textbooks for law or medical school or other graduate programs, Knetbooks is unprepared to handle these kinds of orders. After having multiple books out of stock for months, my order was sent to me roughly 80 days after the order was placed. I was sent $20 in credit. The other half of my order was lost in transit and instead of sending a new book, I was refunded two months after the books were deemed lost by carrier. Additionally, their customer service is lackluster at best and generally inept. Their live chats have about a 50% success rate in my experience actually helping. When I expressed that I was unsatisfied with the live chat I was assured that a manager would call me within 3-5 business days. I chose to trust that this would happen on three separate occasions. The first time, I received a call after 11 business days. The next two times, I was never called and as there is no customer service number listed on their website, I had no option to contact Knetbooks other than through the botched, bungling, and blundering live chat. Returning the rentals generally goes smoothly, however, one of my orders was damaged in transit. Knetbooks has no recourse method for this and has charged me full price for a new textbook. Thus, after ordering books from them for the last five years I cannot say I will EVER trust them with an my money, my academic needs, or to be competent.

What went wrong? Took my money for a book that apparently wasn't in your inventory and then waited 6 days to communicate you didn't have it and would send a refund instead. Poor inventory control combined with lackluster communication. Go the extra mile and order it from another source and pay the difference or give the customer the extra amount to go buy it themselves to compensate for your inventory control.

I immediately returned my book after receiving it because I no longer required it. I never opened the package and went to send it back. They charged me a “restocking fee” or some bs and only gave me back about half of what I paid for it. Keep in mind this was a rental book and would’ve had to be “restocked” anyway. They received my return and automatically sent me an email saying that it was not returned in the condition that it was shipped out in therefore I would get no refund. I immediately emailed back and said that I never opened the package. Someone emailed back soon after saying that I would be refunded. I think that when you return a book for a refund they automatically send that be email that it “was not received in the same condition” because my package was obviously never opened.

Finding the book I needed to create information for our board and community with statistics on the performing arts in education is challengin to find. This book was no longer in print, but I found knetbooks on the amazon website under the title of the book. The book was sent in a very reasonable amount of time. The information in the book was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
