Awful experience with this company’s head office and the North East office over the last 24 hours. Phoned yesterday morning to ask for someone to come out to deal with a blocked main drain about to overflow on the advice of our plumber who was in our house and said to say it was an emergency. Was told that they were booked all day but there was an on call engineer that they would send out but that it could be in the evening. At teatime I rang to see what was happening and was told the call had been actually booked in for this morning between 8am and noon. This morning I phoned again at 11am to ask where the engineer was and was given a variety of excuses including that hospitals and prisons were given priority/they had engineers off due to personal circumstances etc. Fair enough but then that they were “not accepting “domestics” yesterday”. So why accept our job then? The call handler said we were the engineer’s next call and she would phone him to ask his ETA. A person then called us back who said she was a manager, gave the same excuses and then when I asked if the previous person had spoken to the engineer and what was his ETA was told that she didn’t appreciate being spoken to like that! I then cancelled the job. Essentially should have told us yesterday morning that they were too busy and advised us to get another company in. Suggest this company starts telling would be customers the truth about whether they are too busy to attend or not and also does immediate customer service training for its call handlers. Absolutely atrocious.

Absolute waste of time , I phoned and reported a emergency at 21:00 they said someone will attend within 2 hours , no one turned up and when I phoned back they said hopefully in next 5 hours. Seriously don’t waste your time these guys are useless, complete let down.

Did not turn up on the day booked. Also I was not contacted regarding this. When I phoned no one offered any apology for the shoddy lack of service.

Booked through Plus heat to clear A blocked drain. They did not bother to turn up and did not contact me to explain. When I phoned metro rod the man I spoke to did not seem to understand what A drain is ! ! ! ! !

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID Metro Rod Northampton - absolute scammers. I feel physically sick that they've essentially stolen from us. We're not DIY minded, so went with a national company in the hope they would be above board. Big mistake. It resulted in paying £500 for 45 minutes of shoddy work. Gloves left behind, huge splatters of mortar all over the drain cover. And engineer who hid in his van for 3 hours so that Operations would see his tracker had been at our property for that time. When quoting they obviously knew they could take us for a ride. How can they live with themselves when taking advantage of people in such a shameful way. We'll pay as we're genuinely scared about how'd they react if we didn't. Expect to see this company on Watchdog soon.

We waited 3 weeks for our home ‘emergency’ cover to sort out someone who knew what they were talking about and who could finally fix the problem, which was a burst pipe that was in concrete in my kitchen floor. Not only did Eamon ( from the Luton branch ) locate the position of the leak, he then worked methodically and at every stage showed us what he’d done and gave the reason. He collected up the concrete into rubble sacks as he went along and left no mess whatsoever. He had arrived at 8.30am, and didn’t leave until 6pm when not only was he, but also is happy that the problem has been resolved. I am quick to criticise, but I am also quick to give credit where credit is due.

I had Metro rod allocated by Tesco Home emergency. These chaps are very good. An engineer by the name of Trevor did the work for my call. I would say, this is the first time I met a real drainage engineer. Both his knowledge, methodic work and checks were very professional. Thanks Trevor

Truly awful. Split in downpipe from toilet, one site of leak visible excrement and tissue leakage Came quickly, performed fibroptic examination of all accessible drains....reason unclear. Applied some porous cement approximately around leak reduced but did not eliminate leak, disappeared and not seen or heard of since despite multiple requests via Corgi, who presumably paid Metro Rod. No card, contact number or job description left. Never again

It was Saturday evening around 6 pm found our drain was blocked, We made arrangements with Metro Rod and Jack was at home in an hours time and sorted the block in no time. so glad with the service and Jack was very good at his job. I recommend Metro Rod to people are in any emergency service & Best of all available 24/7 service Good luck jack & Team

I had concern that the work would be difficult, but the Metrorod Kent and Sussex Engineer had the right equipment and dealt with the blockage swiftly and very effectively. So much so that he charged me less than the quotation received - very honest and refreshing!

Called Metro Rod (Lincolnshire) to our home for a blocked drain. From the office coordination to the guy who carried out the work, the experience was prompt response, polite and helpful staff, and a professional service. Price quoted was the price charged - no hidden extras.

Metrorod came out to the residential home for special needs students at extremely short notice,Jack and Daryl were very helpful and knowlegable,they couldnt do enough for us with our drainage issues.to add also the price was fantastic we will be using them again i highly reccomend them.

Absolutely awful. This company came out to fix a toilet leak under home emergency insurance and they have left me with a leak worse than I started. On the first visit the guy huffed and puffed saying that it's a two man job to take off the toilet and didn't really want to do the job. Insurance company had the audacity to tell me that metro rod will need me to take the toilet off the wall before they come out again. After pointing out that that was ridiculous and that a plumber should be capable of taking off a toilet, metrorod agreed to come out. Well the second time they came and between the two of them, they didn't know how to take into the toilet off so I googled it for them and explained how to take it off. They claimed to have fixed the leak and then after finishing work, hours later, there was a big pool of water. Phoned up the engineer as well as reporting it to the insurance company and said they would come tomorrow to fix. Then got a call from another guy later that evening saying he was coming to isolate the toilet and that they would send 2 men out tomorrow to sort it. He then spent ages figuring out how to isolate the toilet and said it's a different system to what he's used to. Said I had been really reasonable with the 2 guys before and himself and will defo get it sorted and will tell the office. Then got another call the next day saying they're on the way but only one guy showed up (one of the 2 men that showed up to fix initially). He said he's just been sent to asses as that's what the office said. Questioned why the guy that isolated it didn't do that assessment. He just shrugged his shoulders and said that's what the office wanted. He literally just put his hand under the toilet and said I'll let the office know it's urgent. No call from metrorod, so phoned insurance company and they said metrorod claimed it's a new leak and not caused by them. Amazing how that assessment can be done in 1 minute without taking off the toilet. Obviously insurance company believe metrorod and that it now requires tiles to be taken down, toilet taken off and this is not covered by emergency home cover. Seems very similar to a review below. They've so far charged £350 to the insurance company. Talk about rip off Britain! Compliant raised with insurance company. I would stay clear of this company.

Called late on Monday evening regards blocked drain outside. Came Tuesday morning, fantastic service all around, cleared blockage in no time, was professional, courteous, followed COVID guidelines. Would absolutely use again and highly recommend to all.

An efficient, quick, clean job clearing a blocked drain below the kitchen sink in my flat. Two very pleasant men from the company also very politely helped enlighten me as to which situations require a drainage specialist as opposed to a plumber The only reason I have not given 5 stars is due to an attempt to charge an extra 47% on the already agreed job date and price, due to it being Saturday. So many employees have daytime Saturdays included in their contracts at no premium now that this seems to be a ridiculously outdated practise. I would use them again as their standard charge seems quite fair, but only if my emergency fits into what they deem normal working days.
