After trying 5 other companies in Edinburgh, l phoned metro rod around 11am and was advised it would be around 3 before they could get to me. While waiting l googled reviews on them, and started worry, as some weren't great. The worry was for nothing, the guys arrived, very pleasant and helpful cleared the drain with no drama. Cheers!
Not impressed with this company - they were called out by my landlord for a blocked drain. Told me they couldn't be certain why the drain had blocked, but then told my landlord it was down to "misuse" by us. Can't be trusted.
Absolutely diabolical service. The guy at first never turned up on the date that they had arranged. We had asked for a full drain survey with their local office in Huddersfield. When he did turn up drains were missed and excuses made for camera's unable to do the job. Third time he came, after much chasing, the result was still completely unsatisfactory. Avoid this company at all costs!
For some reason my insurance company contract Metro Rod / Metro Plumb for their plumbing. Firstly, I called them out for a broken flush and leaking kitchen sink. Both of which were fixed. Or so I thought. Secondly, I called them out for a leak in my electric sockets in my kitchen. They came to "isolate" the leak but couldn't touch it any further due to the categories of insurance, which is fair enough but this wasn't communicated to me until arrival and I can turn a stopcock off myself. Thirdly, after I had an access and trace done through my buildings insurance, I needed them to come back as the cold water wasn't coming out of the bathroom taps, the temperamental flush which I thought had been fixed on the first visit, had broken again due to a lack of cold water, and I needed the original leak fixing. These issues were reported a week after the original leak. The first day, no one turned up despite being promised a plumber. The second day, I chased everyone up until someone came. They came at 10:30pm, fixed the cold water problem easily, didn't have the correct parts for the flush and claimed they couldn't fix the leak as it couldn't be seen. When they left, I searched for the leak myself and found it - I'm nowhere near qualified to be a plumber. The plumber promised that he would arrange a callback. At this point I have no trust in the company, so spend another day chasing. At 10pm, I hadn't heard from a plumber, so rang again. At 10:30pm I was told they would be with me in an hour. It was very late but I was desperate for these issues to get fixed so I accepted. At 11:45pm, I called the plumber asking where they were, "5 minutes away". At midnight, I got a call saying that he was nearly there but got pulled over by the police because he may have illegal tyres. Well he was nearly there several times and it seemed like a ludicrous excuse for whatever reason. I went on to ring the head office but no one could help me until 9am the next day, despite me relaying the whole story to someone! At this point, I decided to leave it to my insurers who were going to arrange for them to come out again. I have refused that and employed my own plumber, to which my insurance will reimburse. Some of the plumbers that I did have from this company, were totally disengaged. Either couldn't wait to quickly finish and leave, or on the phone whilst I'm talking to them. No motivation to do a proper job.
Insurance company sent Metro Rod to fix a blocked toilet after I made all efforts to remove the blockage ourselves. Man turned up over an hour late, did not phone beforehand to tell me what time he was coming. He made a brief attempt to plunge to toilet, did not attempt rodding. Then he tried to lift the manhole cover without success. He was banging away for about 15 / 20 mins and he cracked the manhole cover. He said he would return on Monday with another person to remove toilet and clear the blockage, and gave us the impression that they would work as a team to resolve the problem. He did not turn up, and the other man from Metro Plumb turned up to remove the toilet and was unaware the Metro Rod man should have been there as well. Then he said he was unable to remove the toilet without breaking it, but would not replace it. After speaking to the insurance company they said they would arrange for 2 people to turn up the next day at the same time, one person to remove toilet and the other to clear the blockage. So following morning Metro Plumb man phones and said that he was not told about Metro Rod man coming, I did not hear anything from Metro Rod man who did not turn up. Also Metro Plumb man said that the waste pipe would not be capped off. I did not want all the sewage smells/ gases to enter the home while I find a private plumber to install a new toilet, so I told Metro Plumb man to leave it for the time being. My insurance company said that would have to contact Metro Rod directly re the cracked Manhole cover. This was terrible service from Metro Rod., very unprofessional. Stay away from these people,
They did negligent work to my home and I was without heating for over two weeks in winter. They repaired a broken heating pipe but didn't do it correctly and left me with a leak and were incapable of fixing a basic problem
Dreadful. Although I am not sure if they even bother with reading or replying to reviews in here... Called Metrorod to clear my overflowing drains (note below, called Thames Water the day before who told me that this was private drainage I needed to get a company to do the job). "Engineers" arrived almost hour and half later (after me arriving from 60 miles away), accused me that I did not understand when I was given the time, even thoug I was told at first that thy went to another job. Never mind that, they did not bring proper tools to lift the cover at first, then after finally lifting the lid and poking it a bit, they packed their stuff and told me that Thames Water will clear this for me. What a bunch of cowboys. Avoid at all costs.
Metro Rod have attended our property twice now and the first visit they said it was our taps causing the leak!! then 38hrs later the leak happened again so Metro rod re visited our property after being called out via our emergency cover on our insurance, only to be told there is no leak and the problem is when you fill your sink to the screw in part for the tap its leaking through there! however this is slightly above the overflow and when explained the sink has only been used for teeth brushing for two kids he wouldn't except it then spoke with the company metro rod who weren't helpful. Then I tried to speak with Plumber who was like a dog with a bone (thinking he has found the leak) even though we presented him with evidence to prove otherwise! he then said its your problem not mine, so asked him to leave he then opened my door banged his tool box on my door frame on purpose and then told me to F*** *** then slammed my door hard!!! I rang there head office and then they didn't wanna really know

May 28,2018We had a blocked drain which was noted by our boiler engineer that came out via corgi homeplan. We then were told would receive a visit from metro rod at 3pm. We hadn’t heard til 6pm so rung them directly. We were told somebody would come at 8pm but they only arrived at 10pm. In fact, it was only one person, who did not introduce himself and came with an attitude telling us that where he’d already been, that he hadn’t had dinner and that this is one of those nights. He also said that he had started his shift at 10am and would be expected to finish the next morning. Looking on the website I found out his name was Steve. He clearly seemed exhausted and in a bad mood, so he reluctantly got more and more equipment out of his car, everything filthy and I was worried about health and safety whilst he handled all that horrible tubing in my kitchen. He kept complaining because he could not get the drain to flush and had to bend down several times which appeared to cause him discomfort. He used a hose going up the drain from outside the house and a hoover to clear the kitchen drain. He said to me that he had run out of water and had to fill his water tank with my water supplies. The water kept running for about 30 minutes. My husband thought that the service was unusually unprofessional and recorded the conversation. At midnight we asked how much longer when he said he was forced to stay on the job til it was finished. After a few phone calls to his workplace he somehow suddenly agreed to leave and stated he would send someone else the next day. We never heard back so rung them 2d later. We were told according to their records the job was finished. I assume this was sealed with the signature that we were asked to provide at the end of the man’s visit, we could not see what was written since it was an e signature on a phone and since Steve was a very unpleasant man who did not like to talk nor show us what was written. At midnight he suddenly got a camera out of his car and then noticed that the drain he had cleared was fine but the other one was blocked, at which point it was clear what kind of people this company employs. We were told the next day to call Corgi to get another call out arranged, they stated to send metro rod an email straight away. I rung metro rod again and they said the hadn’t received the email, so rung Corgi who confirmed they had sent it. Rung metro rod and the guy on the phone then said, oh, yes we do have it. He didn’t have to search very long...We were told would receive a visit and that they would make it a daytime visit. We never received a call back, our day was spoilt in fact the whole weekend without the ability to use dishwasher, use of kitchen sink and not knowing at what time they would turn up. Calling back I was in a queue for 50 minutes , ridiculous. The person on the phone said he had no information about me calling before nor did he have any email from Corgi. Wonder what kind of communication system they are using? Following this we had a phone call from Corgi saying that basically the wording used in Steve’s report invalidated our policy with Corgi since ‘fat and grease’ build up was not covered....wonder what is covered Hhe could not specify and stated best thing would be to write an official complaint. Corgi also said that they never wrote an email to metro rot to authorise another visit. I am planning to quit corgi homeplan also. Metro rod do NOT care about customers nor do they have any pride in their work. They know the jargon to use in order to invalidate policies so they do not have to return and the other company has a good excuse not to add more cost, so one hand washes the other. Brilliant deal.
