Great little computer that packs a lot of power. Like the form factor. I've been a Ubuntu based distro for ever and I must say I'm very happy with my experience with Manjaro (Arch) so far (since 2022/03/09).
This little PC has been a pleasure to use. Not much it can't handle. I am very impressed with the performance that it displays. Thank you Minisforum!!
Well engineered, good price. Just a great product. Very happy.
I purchased the barebone version and installed my own memory and ssd. It was easy to install all the parts and has worked perfectly since then. Very happy with the PC. It's easy to carry when I need to work someplace else. Very fast. Would purchase it again! I've been running the machine since Feb 2022.
The device itself is ok and works. Support has been less than helpful. A bad cable makes them want me to send them the cable, so they can verify that the cable is bad, before they'll send me a new one. This is a proprietary SATA interface they use that requires a specific cable.
These are just fantastic little PCs packed with amazing power. The fact you can have a bare bones PC or it can come loaded with disk and memory is a great idea. Just trying to find a reason to by another one.
perfect for a develop
I got a HM90 earlier this year and finally maxed it out a month ago with 64 GB ram, 1 x 2 TB NVMe drive and 2 x 2 TB consumer SSDs in Raidz-1. It's in a 3 node Proxmox cluster and performs very well. A Manjaro/KDE VM with 16 GB ram and 6 cores using the SPICE console provides a smooth GUI experience, and YouTube 1080p videos play back with audio across my LAN. The first version of Proxmox 7 would not install, but a later v7.2 installed okay (later kernel I presume). The SSD SATA cables are very lightweight and easily damaged but replacements are only $15. It's the smallest device that will handle 3 storage devices, and in my case that adds up to just under 5 TB of delightful ZFS file system storage. I'm so tempted to buy another two before they stop releasing this double SSD model.
I pre-ordered the EliteMini B550 barebone version. They claimed that the B550 will work with the CPU I own in the pre-order webpage. When I received my system, it will not boot with my CPU. My CPU works just fine in another system. The customer service is very slow to respond because this situation is new to them. I usually need to send them a second email to get a response. The customer service gave me conflicting information. One said I need to buy a specific RAM, the other said later this RAM won't work with the system. Their engineers did not know about the incompatibility issue until multiple customers pointed it out to them. They didn't thoroughly test their system before launching. Their engineers did not bother to look into this issue when they first heard from me and dismissed my support case by telling me to just buy another unit with pre-installed CPU. They lied to customers saying there will be a BIOS update that will solve the incompatibility issue. They posted this false promise on their website but later silently took it down. They will not issue me a full refund because of transaction fees. They will not pay for return shipping.
This TH50 is a winner for me. My usage is publishing applications and large database, with multiple simultaneous applications and datasets. I don't do much streaming. I only had 512 GB internal SSD, so I added an external 2TB. This one doesn't have internal expansion slot. Thunderbolt 4 allows impressive data exchange between and among multiple drives, including old floppies, and my external CD/DVD. The speed is allowing me to pull data from old drives that I had previously just not been willing to spend to time doing. Oh, and this lets me get rid of a large desk and downsize my workspace.
Mostly satisfied with my Minisforum B550. The ability to transfer my Ryzen 5700G into a fully functional, compact unit has been great. Unit performs and runs excellently. My only serious suggestion on any future revision or iteration is ANY amount of front-side IO. I understand that the IO being entirely backside is because the back essentially becomes the front when docked, but not everyone is using the dock. Even just a single USB port would have been a godsend. On that note, I'm not using the external GPU or PSU dock, so I can't comment on those other than to say that I think that it's a neat idea that desperately needs further revision, but also possibly just ditched entirely. There is already a ton of value in being able to bring a desktop power CPU to a mini PC form factor. There's little need to complicate that with funky, awkward docking solutions.
I am exceedingly pleased with my B550 purchase, and while I have not yet taken advantage of its full size graphics card expandability, that is a future opportunity that I am looking forward to complete. The machine as shipped has been great. It is quiet and fast for the CAD work in 3D and 2D that I do. I can't wait to get a high end graphics card strapped on so I can do some gaming too. Everything is so much faster than my i5 PC that the B550 replaced. The included carrying case is an added bonus that has provided me much utility as I have taken the B550 on the road. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a mini PC.
I purchased my HX-90 to run as a low power Proxmox server. The 7.1 version of Proxmox didn't have good support for the network chipset (Proxmox problem, not with the HX-90) so I installed Ubuntu 22.04 and it rocks. Setting the video at 2.5K (the best my 34 inch gaming monitor supports) looks stunning and the system performance has been flawless.
We purchased the mini B550 AMD 5700G with 32 GB of RAM. This was originally purchased for my wife to work from home. My expectations were not very high as I have worked in the IT industry for ages. The system exceeded my expectations. Runs fast, cool, and the set up was a breeze. We both love it and if I ever need another small system for anyone, I will definitely only purchase from minisforum. Customer support was great and following up on shipment and following up after to make sure everything was satisfactory. I could not ask for more.
Minisforum's B550 is a true gaming PC without compromise. You can add a video card and PSU, & it's also portable as a stand-alone in a mini-pc configuration. Our family wanted something future-proof and stylish, and Minisforum B550 is all that and more. This is our second Minisforum purchase, and both units are used for work and play. The customer service is excellent and responsive. If you do your research, you'll learn to appreciate Minisforum's brand and reputation. If space and aesthetics are an issue and you don't want to compromise power check out the B550. Could be a great fit for your needs.
I am extremely pleased with my TH50, it is meeting all of my expectations.

Sep 23,2022Almost every day I get "aptio setup utility" popping up instead of my regular homescreen. It's a blue and grey screen asking for Bios Info. I wish I didn't have to deal with this.
