Ocean Estate Agents have been selling Bristol homes of all shapes and sizes – large and small, grand ¬and modest, smart and not so smart… for all kinds of people since 1984.
Founder Paul Harris started the business over 40 years ago with Ocean Bishopston on Gloucester Road, and there are now 12 local offices across the city including one in Portishead and Weston super Mare.
Their ethos is very much ‘people before property’, with the emphasis on looking after the individuals and families buying or selling their homes, to make what is often a challenging experience, as worry-free as possible.
Ocean’s teams, reflect the culturally rich communities of this wonderful city, spanning a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds from across Bristol.
It is also very much a family business. Many of the team have grown up and started their own families whilst working for Ocean – they even have some second generation ‘Oceaners’ now working for the company.

Because of this we sold within a week for an offer which was more than we thought we would get. They offered a professional service and kept us informed every step of the way. Aug 25,2024Ocean, Portishead take a very long time to do searches, 10 weeks since offer so far. They don't reply to emails and when you telephone the Conveyancer, you don't get further than the Receptionist! I have advised my daughter to transfer her house purchase to a Solicitor!

Aug 25,2024Absolutely unprofessional, disrespectful and rude. If you want to sell your house use them as last option, please find in the review below why. I have sold my house with them couple of weeks ago (07/08/2024). Firstly they have never placed sign in front to show that the house is for sale, most likely thats why i had just 3 viewings for the first few weeks and two of them were the same family. Then the sales agent has blocked my email so i wasn`t able to send him emails ?!? After that when me and the buyer have agreed with the offer the offer looks like the so called "price negotiator” have said to the buyer that my furnitures are included in the price in case that i have clearly stated to her that we can discuss with the buyer separate price for the furnitures if he wants them. I have found out that 3 months later when the solicitors asked me which furnitures are included so i have been forced to sell my house with the furnitures because the “price negotiator said so"!!! I have been asked from them to provide evaluation which is valid for 3 months and they didn`t managed to get everything done in those 3 months period and at the end they has blackmailed me to move out from the house in 24h or i need to do (pay) a new evaluation!!! Their moving manager has sent me an email (on 12/07/2024) saying that everything is ready and they are coming to me with suggestion for completition date (24/07/2024) which “will give enough time to the solicitors to finalise the documents" and after that they have failed to meet the date which they have suggested to me. As a result i had to pay mortgage for one more month, council tax and “more enquiries” which accidentally popped up!!! And all of this is in case that me and the buyer were using them as our solicitors, so you can imagine what kind of communication they have got between themselves… After the sale i have asked them for the branch manager to contact me, so i can discuss the above with him/her, instead they have started to passing me between themselves. Thats mean that there is nobody to take responsibilities of what they are doing… Absolutely rude and disgusting behaviour by their unprofessional staff. To summarize, i have chosen them because they have offered lower commission than the other agencies and at the end of the day is my fault that i have chosen them, but when i calculated everything i have payed more money than i had to pay with another normal and professional agency... I hope my experience will prevent someone else to end in the same situation like me… The most polite thing what i can say is that this is not a good and reliable agency, use it as a last option if you have unlimited time and money to sell your property

I actually contacted Luigi via LinkedIn and was impressed by how quickly he replied and set up an initial meeting for us. We were first-time buyers and didn't think we would be able to buy a property in Bristol. Within a half an hour meeting with Luigi he had answered all of our queries around buying our first home, and gave us a clear plan of action. Even after arranging our mortgage, Luigi continued to support and answer any questions we had. We cannot thank him enough, and we will be recommending him to anyone that needs mortgage advice!

I did find, at times during the sale, we seemed to be chased for things that should have gone through the solicitor as well as being the go between the solicitor and the estate agent a fair amount.
