Apr 09,2021Our initial order arrived with the board slightly damaged. I emailed with a photograph and a replacement was dispatched the same day and received less than 24hrs later. Beautiful chess board & pieces which is excellent quality. Fantastic service with the issue rectified in super quick time. Highly recommended.

Mar 26,2021Astounding customer service. I ordered a (very beautiful) chess set for my son, and one of the chess pieces was damaged. Carl responded very quickly, and sent a whole new set of pieces. I have come to expect quite a lot of push back from many companies about this sort of thing, and it was so refreshing to have such a quick and helpful response. Thank you Carl!

Mar 16,2021In ordered a 15” chess board that I then decided was a little small, so I arranged for a return. This was a very straight forward process but the best part was that despite the larger board I had subsequently chosen being a higher price than the original, this arrived by way of exchange at no extra cost! Excellent customer service and very generous. I know I will look no further for any other chess needs that I have. Thank you very much!

Mar 06,2021My son ordered a magnetic chess set but sadly there were a few faults with it. I emailed Official Staunton & they replied within half an hour to apologise & assure me that it was not the norm with that set. They immediately shipped another set without waiting for me to return the faulty one & it arrived within 48 hours. Nothing wrong with the second set so obviously just a hiccup in construction. Fantastic friendly service & I won't hesitate to use them again & recommend to others. Well done!

Feb 23,2021Ordered a Lewis Chess set with mahogany board as a gift. Arrived extremely well wrapped. Set is as described. Quality board with lots of grain on display. The pieces are well made with lots of detail showing and a comforting weight and feel of quality about them. Communications with the company has been exemplary. I would highly recommend this set/ company to anyone looking for a quality chess set and would buy from them again without hesitation.

There was a minor issue with the board, which OSCC quickly rectified, without any fuss at all. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone wanting to purchase a quality crafted and beautifully finished chess set.

Feb 08,2021I don't normally leave reviews, but thought I would make an exception here. I took a while to choose the perfect chess set for my husband. Even in the current climate, they were very quick to answer any queries and came across very professional and friendly. The set itself appears to be very well constructed and my husband is over-the-moon! Overall, arrived very quickly after ordering and was very well packaged. Did take a little while explaining to the postman that it was a chess set and not cheese he was delivering though! Big package - how much cheese does he think we eat? Highly recommended - would not hesitate to order from this company again.

Jan 19,2021Great support. I've just received the Black Winchester Mahogany Acacia Chess Set, having ordered just a few days ago. The set itself is exactly as advertised and high quality, with each piece nicely weighted and the 19 inch chess board looks great. The detail on the knight is very good. (I did find the base loose on one knight, but easy to fix.) The set came with spare queens, which I don't think was listed in the product spec. The chess piece box is also good quality. I bought moments before the price changed on the website, but there was no issue getting the price difference refunded with an almost immediate response from support. Recommended!

Jan 14,2021Received a damaged upon delivery 19 inch chessboard. However, excellent customer service resulted in a prompt replacement having used the "contact us" form on the website and providing an image of the damage. The chessboard itself is great too!

Jan 12,2021I ordered the 4 inch antiqued Leuchers set and decided I'd like to change this. There was also a problem with the lock on the box. I decided to change this for the 3.5" Cooke set and Carl organised this and a refund at great speed. Carl was also extremely helpful in advising about other products I might want to buy, and in agreeing a reasonable adjustment for the postage costs. I'm extremely happy with my new chess set and with the excellent customer service I received.

Dec 29,2020Ordered the Elite Players set for my Son as a forever chess set to be cherished as an experience not just a game. I couldn’t have been more delighted with the quality and customer service. Slight problem with 3 pawns having loose weights which I emailed at 9pm - 20 mins later an offer to replace them made. Cant ask any more and will delighted to return business in the future. Mistakes and quality escapes happen but the marque of a quality company is how they are rectified. 6 stars ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ for going above and beyond. Thanks Carl

Dec 29,2020I recently ordered two chess sets; 12" Solid Wood Magnetic Hand Made Push Drawer & 19" Acacia Winchester Mahogany Chess Set Combination. The Acacia Winchester Mahogany Set is perfect. It’s expensive, but I know it will last forever, and after 30 years of using cheap chess sets, it’s something that I’m really happy to use. The 12 inch Solid Wood Magnetic Hand Made Push Drawer set is really impressive. The design of the push drawer and the power of the magnets makes it really handy for carrying around from place to place, and I know if I wanted to take it travelling, it would be easy to pack. There were a few pieces in the hand made set that were not 100% perfect but official staunton have offered to replace for no extra fee. I would recommend these chess sets to anyone who wants high quality and great design

Nov 21,2020I ordered two chess sets from official Staunton on receiving these I didn’t like the chess pieces the boards were beautifully finished. I emailed to ask to exchange at 9.30 pm unbelievably I received an immediate reply from Carl offering to send two more different sets for me to choose from all delivered and collected from my home free of charge.Two days later I received these sets and made my choice. Amazing customer service

Nov 20,2020I eventually settled on the 4" Hastings Antiqued and Black Chess Pieces and board for my son's birthday. This set was very much like one passed down to me from my grandfather who'd had it since 1940s that disappeared somewhere years back... Anyway, the website offers a tremendous selection, blending quality with value in a range of styles. The set I bought arrived bang on time, in perfect order and just looks stunning. Just fantastically tactile collector's pieces. Son might have preferred PS5 - that's kids for you - if so I shall keep it myself!!!

Apr 10,2021My 1849 Antique Black Walnut Chess Set arrived this morning at my flat...A bit cruel as I was at work...😊 . I've just unpacked it all and set it up on board. All I can say is: WOW! FANTASTIC! Such beautiful work on pieces and lovely chess board. REAL quality stuff. . All the pieces look perfect and the knight is even better in the flesh. The antique colour on the whites is perfect....All in all a very happy bunny and worth every penny imho. Also to note that the packaging is great as well! Outstanding service, products team. Big thankyou to Lisa! Top class I look forwards to doing more business with OS.
