Every details given by Oyster were correct. Nothing hiden. Very good service.
The service and helpfulness was excellent, so they would receive 5 stars for that, but the fact that they weren't up to date with everything about the project makes it 4 stars.
Everyone was really helpful and willing to answer any and all questions either through text, email or phone call. I received correct and up to date information using the "my oyster portal" which was a very convenient way of having all the information related to my trip. Can't wait to save up money and volunteer again (using oyster of course!)
Excellent company. Really love everything about it especially client service.
Very reliable site and had excellent help from the staff throughout the process.
Just spent two weeks living in Brasov and working at Libearty Bear Sanctuary, Zarnesti, where I spent a fantastic time with the bears, the other volunteers Kevin, Claire and Louise, the permanent sanctuary staff and the local Oyster representative, Razvan. The accommodation was basic but more than adequate, sharing a bedroom with another male while two or three females shared the other adjoining bedroom. A kitchen/dining area, shower room and separate toilet made up the rest of the apartment. Razvan was always on hand as he lives in the apartment directly above the volunteers, which is in a fantastic location just 2 minutes away from the very centre of the medieval town of Brasov. Local shops, bars and restaurants are minutes away and it is cheap enough to eat out every night if you wish, although you can buy food to cook at the apartment as well as making up your own pack lunches every day to take to work with you. Work at the sanctuary proved not to be as varied as described in the Oyster literature provided before booking, and consisted of food preparation followed by more food preparation then yet more food preparation!! Whilst not necessarily a bad thing as this is a vital part of the volunteers' contribution towards the successful running of the sanctuary, it meant that volunteers were often left waiting for the next food delivery to arrive with no work to do, rather than being employed doing other tasks. This wasn't a problem for me as I was more than happy to spend any spare time with the bears, watching and photographing them at rest and play and being fed by the sanctuary staff. These rescued bears are obviously very content with their environment and life, and seem happy to spend the rest of their days living in comfort thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff and volunteers alike.
They were very helpful. I was able to speak on the phone with someone or email (for my particular volunteering experience in South Africa I spoke with Georgie Collcutt) and they replied very fast and provided all the information I asked for. If she did not know the answer to a question she would check with the reserve I was volunteering with to make sure I was prepared for my trip. I was impressed by this service and thankful. However I did still feel like there was much I didn't know when I arrived at the reserve but Im not sure if this was the reserve itself, as much changed on a day to day basis depending on the dynamics of the reserve itself, or if Oyster was aware and just did not provide all information. For example there was no ATM on the reserve and on weekends we could go to different places that were not mentioned on the info packet provided by Oyster on the myoyster page. But overall I had a wonderful experience and would definitely use them again as I felt pretty safe and secure and felt there was someone I could contact at all times.
I wanted to write to thank you all for an amazing adventure that my daughter had in South Africa. I can honestly say that she had the best time of her life. Even though she had never been away from home before and is not used to travelling she had no problems with her journey. She cried when it was time to leave and she is saving to return next year. She has made life long friends and truly found her place in life. She is hoping to take her 4th year at Uni in SA and I can see her living there in the future. Thank you once again.
Through Oyster I spent 2 weeks volunteering in South Africa at a Monkey Rehab centre. It was honestly one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. It was such a unique experience, one that allowed me to meet new people as well as interact with such incredible animals. I was well prepared prior to going thanks to my destination manager and am thoroughly grateful for all her help. I absolutely loved my trip and would recommend Oyster to anyone!
My time overseas was amazing! I loved every second of it and miss it so much. I am definitely looking forward to going back sometime to visit other areas of Ecuador. As far as Yana Cocha, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The people I've met there were amazing and so helpful in any was possible. Everyday was filled with excitement and new stories about the animals. The bond I've created with the people there are definitely new friendships that I will always cherish. Being able to work up close with the animals was truly incredible. There was a lot of hard work required during our extra work time, but I am now even stronger because of that. I definitely want to thank you for making this trip possible. It went very smoothly and I felt prepared and confident every second of this trip. I couldn't have had such an amazing experience without your help and diligent work.
We were looked after extremely well by Razvan, he really made us feel welcome and well supported. Only 2 slight problems, our driver not turning up one day to take us to the Sanctuary and so we missed out on a full guided tour of the Sanctuary and on our visit to Bran castle our driver didn't allow us sufficient time for the visit. But apart from these 2 slight hiccups we had a fantastic time and Razvan even arranged an extra trip for us to Peles castle.
Brilliant life-changing experience. Hard work but definitely worth it. I ould recommend to anyway planning on going to throw themselves into everything right from day 1 - even though that may sound scary you will make the most of your trip. Gets cold at night in winter, so bring lots of extra layers and possibly a hot water bottle.
The Oyster website /My Oyster section is extremely clear and comprehensive and answers all the questions that a volunteer might have about their chosen project. The staff at Oyster are also on hand to answer any queries over the telephone. All of the arrangements regarding collection/dropping off at the project went smoothly. Didnt encounter any problems with booking/payment or anything at all to do with the project.
I have gladly filled out the review that you asked for on survey monkey. Where do I start, all of my expectations for the trip were greatly exceeded! The process of the flight connections and greeting the staff at the airport was all extremely smooth, and I soon began to make good friends before I had even reached the reserve. All of the staff were lovely, they were very helpful when it came to someone requiring anything and our safety was paramount to them. The veterinary experience was brilliant, we saw the vet about 3 times a week, accompanying him on game drives. We were able to be very hands on getting involved in darting and manoeuvring wild animals, administrating vitamins and antibiotics, taking faecal and blood samples and the study of wild animal behaviour. Whilst the vet was absent, staff were very good at keeping us all busy, we got involved in the feeding and maintenance of the big cats, game counts, tree chopping, road building, and hiking. I think the main highlight of the trip for me, were the weekend excursions, provided transport to various locations along the southern coast, including Jeffers Bay, Plettenberg Bay, Muscle Bay and Port Elizabeth. During the weekends we could do many great activities such as, skydiving, shark diving, whale watching, swimming with seals, waterfall touring, surfing, walking with cheetahs, Monkey Land, riding along the beach and walking with elephants. So as you can imagine, there was never a spare moment, we were always kept busy which was sometimes exhausting but great! If I'm being totally honest I don't think I could fault anything about the trip, and I know for certain I have come away with having made many lifelong friends. South Africa has further fuelled my desire to study veterinary and has really opened my eyes to the awesome possibilities that await with a veterinary career. Without Oyster and the great support they gave me, this trip would never have happened, so a big thank you!
Everything perfect Good contact with advisors Everything well prepared and all advice given Highly recommend
I booked with Oyster Worldwide to go to Thailand and I absolutely loved every minute! All the people I spoke to at Oyster kept in constant contact with me before, during and after my trip and were so friendly and helpful in answering any questions I had now matter how big or small. I would recommend them to anyone and I will definitely be booking with Oyster again for my next adventure :)
Great staff - easy to contact, quick to respond, friendly, many ways to contact them and eased my nerves and made me feel very comfortable about going. So much information - I knew a lot more about the trip travel, accommodation and project than people who booked through other companies. Good opportunity to meet people on the same trip beforehand (eg dedicated facebook pages) which really helped as I was very nervous to travel alone. Only downside is that there were a few discrepancies between what they advertised and what was actually true, and maybe a slight over-representation of the project. I highly recommend them!
Oyster made my volunteering experience in South Africa unforgettable. Being able to chat to a rep and make a personal connection made me feel so much safer before embarking on my trip of a lifetime. It was great to know that the rep had actually been on the specific trip I was going for so I knew that these first-hand experiences were the real deal and what I was signing up for. I had great support leading up to my trip and it was nice that they checked in on me whilst I was away.
Oyster are very helpful and supportive, both with planning and during the trips. Any questions, they're happy to help. I was very comfortable going away by myself due to the constant support from Oyster, and I knew that any problems could be sorted in the main office or with the volunteer supervisor at the destination. I had an amazing time and would definitely recommend this company to someone of any age, who is aiming to experience different countries and cultures whilst volunteering at a worthwhile project.

Nov 24,2017We have had so many wonderful adventures and experiences that I hope will stay with us for everβ¦to be just a small part in helping to protect and hopefully increase the numbers of the Olive Ridley turtles has been a privilege. From the start to finish Oyster were on hand to help, advise and support us on our first trip of this sort. Travelling on my own with a 9 year old and doing this sort of thing was a little out of my comfort zone but Oyster made the whole experience wonderful. I have and will continue to recommend Oyster to my friends and family and would certainly consider booking with them again. I don't think "conventional" holidays will be on our agenda now. This was so much fun and we really got a feel for where we staying and what we were doing. Being "off the grid" was great and made us appreciate the things we have at home. A really good experience all round....and we got to relax, play games, make new friends and get a suntan too.
