Jun 13,2018I loved the time I spent in Chile and I am currently working on finding a way to go back already! Living with my host family was such a special experience and was my favorite part of living in Chile. I am still in close contact with my family and the friends I made while there and I am looking forward to traveling back to see them all again soon.

Jun 08,2018I returned from 2 weeks working with the bears in Romania a week ago and am forever wishing I had stayed for so much longer! The country itself is beautiful, full of mountains and great people. The sanctuary is massive and really helps the bears be as wild and safe as possible. The guys at Oyster made the whole process so easy and I met some great, like minded people who made the experience great! I would 1000000% recommend this trip to anyone!

During my time in Nepal I had a chance to learn about the religious history of Kathmandu from the tour guide that had been arranged for me. Oyster helped me make the most of my time in Nepal.

Jun 01,2018With the help of the amazing Oyster team, it didn't take long to fall in love with Brasov and the Bear Sanctuary. I'm 8 weeks into my time here and I honestly can't put into words how sad it's going to be for me to leave next Friday. I'm going to miss so much about this place; the friends I've made here (both human and dog); the long hikes up breathtaking mountains and through beautiful forests; and of course getting to spend so much time around the bears. The people here are so friendly, kind, and welcoming, I really cannot recommend coming here enough.

May 23,2018Oyster have an amazing team who make you feel cared for and valued. Everything was easy to do and the Oyster team were there to help with any queries before the trip. Our rep during our time away was welcoming, friendly and a good laugh, put us at ease straight away and made us feel safe in a new, unfamiliar country. I would recommend this company to anyone who wishes to travel and volunteer simultaneously. Obviously you have to get stuck in and do the hard work, but there is plenty of time to wind down and explore your new surroundings.

May 15,2018I've just returned from my third 6-week volunteer stint at the Romanian Bear Sanctuary. My love of bears were the original reason for signing up for this Oyster Programme, but they are not the only reason I return. Work tasks vary from ditch clearing and leaf raking to sorting food donation deliveries from the supermarkets but, as you can imagine, the priority tends to be the latter as there were 98 bears at last count! Romania, particularly Transylvania, has stunning scenery and the volunteer apartment is based in a lovely medieval town (Brasov). It has plenty of restaurants & bars to relax in after your return from the sanctuary, although the volunteer apartment has a well equipped kitchen to cater for yourself. I would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to discover the area every weekend. Oyster have an excellent (English-speaking) rep who coordinates the daily tasks with the sanctuary manager, the trips arranged as part of the Oyster package and any additional trips you want to make. I have no hesitation recommending this programme, although, personally, I would suggest a minimum of 3 weeks. It certainly won't be my last time, so I might see you there!

May 04,2018Oyster Worldwide is a great program and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to do a gap year away. They made it very easy to apply for a visa and getting accepted to work in Canada. The Oyster representative I had in Canada was amazing and she was very approachable. She made everything super easy and made me feel very welcome in a country I didn't know much about or had ever been to. Oyster is a great way to make friends for life. It is a great starting point for anyone wanting to work away, it ables you to get set up in a house, set up with a job, in a safe friendly neighbourhood. If you want to make changes with your life style you have the option to do that afterwards. I would definitely recommend this program.

May 01,2018Couldn't have asked for a better experience. The Oyster team were really helpful and great at answering all my questions pre trip and preparing us for our time away. When in Canada we met up monthly as a group with our oyster rep, she was lovely and it was nice to know we had someone there in case of any trouble or if we needed advice. There were extra costs I wasn't fully aware of before joining the program, not paid to Oyster but other expenses such as Visas and insurance (more pricey as we were skiing), however I could not put a price tag on the experience and what I gained from my time in Canada so it was definately worth it all. Booking through Oyster also meant we had a group of people we were able to meet before we flew out which really helped when settling in. Overall Oyster provided a great program which made everything so much easier as it was well organised, I have already recommended it to friends considering taking a year out.

Apr 28,2018I have had an awesome time in South Africa. To book my program Oyster Worldwide supported me well and I got all the information I have needed in a very friendly atmosphere. Also it was very easy to book with an English organization even from Germany. Unfortunately Oyster only provides the full information after the payments. Also there were some good pictures of the accommodation missing. Beside that, everything was easy to book, and I have felt served all the time. Thank you for this.

Apr 27,2018Oyster were fantastic from start to finish. I took part in the 4 month Nepal teaching experience and had zero complaints. The support at every stage of the process was fantastic, including the pre departure and return support to help you settle back in to “normal life”. Whilst on the project their in-country representative made the whole experience enjoyable with no problem seeming insurmountable. Whilst a bit more expensive than other gap year providers I would definitely reccommend Oyster for their outstanding support, project selection and all-round awesomeness!

Apr 11,2018Oysterworldwide showed great attention to detail from the beginning to the end I was left in no doubt about the arrangements and the process from the start.They were very approachable and ready to answer any questions I had They kept in touch during my stay. There was a minor hiccup at the start of my visit but that was dealt with immediately and they were very supportive, The description of both the projects was accurate and I knew what to expect. They also asked for my comments and feedback when I returned.

As I did not know exactly what I was getting myself into, the reassurance from Oyster and their support both before, during, and after the trip helped make the entire trip run more smoothly. But the only thing I have to criticize about is that my manager had to ask the organization on-site first to answer my questions. So apparently they don’t know everything and have sometimes not the notion of how it works in the project.

Mar 23,2018Good & helpful information from Anne at Oyster. This is an excellent way to spend a working holiday in a tropical and interesting location. The actual work involves clearing vegetation, digging holes and planting saplings so this is no beach holiday and involves a bit of sweat and graft. It is however rewarding and when you see the Orangs and other animals in along the river and it make you feel that in future your work will be appreciated. Some other organised activities included working with children in a local school, an eccentric dancing class & oregami using banana leaves, a cooking lesson and a guided walk in the local rainforest.- all worth doing and an insight into local life that the tourist hoards will never have. Do the optional additional excursion to the Gamantong Caves - well worth the extra cost. Visiting the Orangutang Sanctuary, Sun Bears and Rainforest tree top walk at Sepilok was a great conclusion to the trip. This part of Borneo has plenty to see so spend at least 4 extra days to explore after or before the project.

Oyster was very thorough at briefing me on what needed to happen and what to expect pre departure (this was highly appreciated as I had not done a big trip away from home before). Oyster regularly checked up on me whilst in Canada creating a very supportive environment. Thank you so much Oyster!!!
