I work in a veterinary practice. When a stray is brought in we scan for a microchip. With all other microchip companies a chip brings up the owner details so we can reunite pet with owner. Not Smart Trace. Apparently they will get back to us within 24 hours of logging on their website, so no way of contacting the owner. Tried calling Smart Trace several times and you can never speak to a human. An absolute shambles of a company.

Had an unsolicited email from a company saying my dog’s microchip listing was going to expire Contacted smarttrace by email. Bree quickly replied and put my mind at ease The initial email looked very convincing and I could have easily paid out not just this year but every consecutive year going forward Many thanks once again Bree

Bree was helpful but I found it frustrating that I couldn't speak to someone . My issue was resolved after many emails but took several days . I thankfully could prove ownership but it was all on me to prove it when someone tried to use my chip number .

I had my dog registered with them and I was the registered owner. My ex-husband hacked into the account and changed the ownership details and reported my dog stolen. I tried to call the company but there was no human to talk to. I emailed and they refused to help or disclose anything even when I could provide evidence of being the lawful owner and outlining the situation. They do not have audit trails of changes within the system so you are at risk of being locked out with no recourse or knowledge of changes. No one called me to discuss and the emails were unhelpful saying they would pass it onto the tech team (who also didn’t respond). Please do not use this company!
