My dog’s chip was incorrectly registered. The wait time to have my query addressed was unacceptably long due to site upgrade(!), more than 2 weeks. However, once assigned to a member of the team I was reassured. Once I could provide a photo of the scanned chip, Bree was brilliant at actioning the transfer.

Teething problems at first I think because the site was being upgraded and I didn't know how to add my puppy's details. However, Bee emailed me and told me,so all good now.
Asked to delete my pets from their database so I can transfer them to other place . Total mess with my own pets. Few complaints about Smarttrace from my customers as well being an implanter as well . Can’t register microchips in other databases . Telephone number from email doesn’t work . Only way of contact remains emails , which get read once a month . Because of this all mess , breeders started complaining about me as implanter and now my image has been affected ! Avoid at all costs , causing just headache .

Shocking service. Firstly, I had to pay £25 for dual ownership. Secondly, our breeder gave us the wrong chip info. I had started the transfer before our vet visit where they found the mix up. I immediately messaged regarding the mix up, managed to sort it and get correct information transferred after waiting so long for a response..all was well until today- I got a new transfer notification of my actual correct chip to somebody else?!! How and why?! Really hope it gets sorted quickly! I now have to dispute the transfer! Absolutely insane!

Microchips are always speedy delivery and smartrace staff always get back to me if I have an issue. Have used these for the last 4 years and wouldn’t use any other brand now .
Absolutely appalled at the £20 transfer fee that had been added onto the chips . Dreadful customer service as can only contact via email there is no phone contact at all for this company. I have niw moved over to using petrac who are fantastic with outstanding customer service and no transfer fee
Frustrating and in breach of Consumer Duty guidelines. Tricked into paying in order to register a chip but when I tried to add any details the rubbish website takes you back to the payment plan page so I now have a paid for plan but no details registered. Kept thinking it was me not doing it correctly so tried over and over again. Waste of so much time. No answer to emails, chat message, no Customer Service telephone facility. God help me if my dog goes missing. If this is how difficult it is to register then I am certainly not wasting valuable moments chasing help with this company should the worst happen and I lose my dog. After contacting them for help a bot will email a patronising message about you being aware that a new website has been relaunched. Well, no I wasn't aware and shouldn't you have put that on the website homepage so that I could decide not to proceed and waste my money?? I now have an unregistered microchip in my dog until the clowns decide to refund me or Amex uphold the transaction dispute I have raised.

Just became new owner of a pup who had a microchip fitted on the 17th May by the breeder. Smarttrace have changed there policy now & after the 22nd May you need to buy a policy to transfer the new ownership over. If the breeder was aware of this then they would have had other options like go to another provider ir inform the new owners beforehand. I could have got my vet to put a microchip in as part of my pets plan but unsure if it's OK to have 2 microchips implanted. Ridiculous
MINUS stars if it was possible! Paid the chipper £20 expecting the chip which was registered in her name to be transferred into ours for our adopted cat! But this rip off company want paying another £20 just for them to change the chip holder name to ourselves- no mention of that before i got our cat chipped! It costs seconds to change the details and either by the original chipping person or the new chip owner but they want paying a second time just to change the owners name and address details which can be done in seconds! (and you have to do it yourself anyway!) no mention at all about this extra rip off charge when you get your pet chipped!) avoid them like the plague! discusting actions by this rip off company!
I emailed them a week ago to request a change of ownership due to the passing of the pet's owner. No response although they state same-day response on their business model. This is already a stressful task to rehome the pet, but to be unable to then register with a vet due to the incorrect name on the chip details is not helping. Poor customer service.
Absolutely shocking customer service! No one replies to questions! Zero customer service. No acknowledgement to implanters who were not notified of their new registration charges! Leaving us with very unhappy customers! DO NOT give your business to these clowns!

Jun 27,2024I would give 0 if i could Changed policy to charge new owners for transfers which should have been free and were agreed as such when the chips were purchased from Smart Breeder. Zilch customer service standard fob off emails even after contacting trading standards. I'm another implanter who is voting with there feet and wont be using their service again
