Again – Do NOT bother with this company!! Reply to my truthful review posted 05/09/2022. An unprofessional and untruthful response sent by Smiths Glass Ltd Response from Smith Glass LTD –You emailed our service department on 30/7/2022 and stated that you have a minor issue with the door, you even stated and I quote "Could you please send someone round to rectify the problem as soon as possible? - I telephoned Smiths Glass w/c: 11/07/22 regarding my faulty patio door, and was told to complete the online form. I completed Smiths Glass online form as instructed. I had no response. I then telephoned Smiths Glass several times on 22/08/22, 23/08/22, 30/08/22 but no response to calls. I then emailed Smiths customer service team on 27/07/22 sending photos and video of fault but no response! I then called Smiths Glass on 05/09/22. Response from Smith Glass LTD – We then called you on 1/8 and have continued to call you every working day since this however the number you have put on the service request form has been constantly switched off. When I raised this with you this Morning when you called in you said "Oh Yes, I've been out of the country". With all due respect, how are we meant to contact you if the phone you have asked me to call is switched off? – I have not been out of the country (since pre Covid), nor have I had one missed or received call from Smiths or any response to my email. Smiths Glass statement is completely untrue. Response from Smith Glass LTD – As I informed you and is stated in your contract terms/guarantee terms as this is an issue encountered with the hinge we can carry out a service request for you but there is a callout charge of £95 for this service as it is now outside the 12 month guarantee provided on all moving parts. The reason we (and every other company we know of) only guarantee items such as hinges and locks for 12 months is that they require user maintenance to ensure smooth running. We cannot guarantee that a customer will follow these instructions so can only mirror the manufacturers parts warranty, The pictures you sent us show clearly that the items have not been maintained inline with maintenance instructions provided to you at installation. – Completely untrue! You stated do not know if it is the hinge and the 2 x photos and video, I sent you of the door not being able to close, implies it could be the frame that is the problem, this is something that IS under warranty but you refuse to investigate this, despite video evidence, unless I pay £95 upfront. My property is well looked after, as are my patio doors and other building parts of my house. To imply I have mistreated a door to my garden, is absolutely absurd. Response from Smith Glass LTD – I did try to explain all of this to you this morning but you would not let me speak and continued to shout at me and eventually you slammed the phone down. – Again, completely untrue. I was very polite to you and only asked where it stated in my original documents that I had to pay £95 call out charge, as it is not shown on the paperwork I have. I also said that it may be the frame which would be under warranty. You said “It’s more than likely to be the hinge and you’re not covered under warranty, so it’ll be £95 for us to come and look” I said £95? Why would I to pay that if it might not be the hinge? To which you responded “well it’s £95 because that’s what we charge!” I said ‘well you know I won’t pay that as it should be under warranty’, you stated ‘Well, that’s the way it is!’. To which I said, ‘Fine well I won’t be paying that will I as it’s not definitely known what the issue is, so I’ll leave it’ you said ‘well it’s £95’ I ended the call with I think I’ll just leave you a review then if you’re not coming out, goodbye’… and the call was ended. Why would I discuss anything further with you when you have clearly LIED in a response to an honest, although negative review. I’m disgusted with your customer service, after having spent thousands of pounds with your company. If my reviews can help one person to think first before deciding to give your company any business, then at least I would’ve helped at least one innocent home owner to save money and not be conned by yet another cow boy company. What an absolutely disgraceful company you are. I will be seeking legal advice for a possible claim against your company and breach of contract warranty on your part.

Smith’s came to replace my Facias and guttering. A sales person visited to give initial quote. Did the usual sales pitch trying to make you think you’re getting such a good deal. I hate that as can see right through it. Extremely annoying. Anyway I needed the job doing so suffered the pitch. Was told the work would be done w/c 25 Jul. Smiths took deposit and never heard anything from them. Had to call 3 times to try and get a date for installation (so not too impressed by that). Lee was the fitter who came to do the work and cannot fault him. Very polite, conscientious and worked diligently. But the best part was as well as doing a good job he tidied up so you wouldn’t even have known he was there. Now considering I placed my order with over £1k deposit and then never heard from Smiths and had to call numerous times to get a fitting date. They weren’t backwards in coming forwards as the next day following job completion they were on the phone for balance payment. (read into that what you will). It is now over a month and I have rung Smiths at least 10 times then stopped counting as I still have scaffolding up around my house and cannot get a straight answer as to when it will be taken down. Thing is no one seems bothered. Now ultimately the job is done so I guess they don’t care. I’m just not impressed with the overall office customer service.

Hi Team. Sales person was very kind and fitters were very efficient completing the work in a day. My only query was one double glazing unit in the kitchen did not appear square and despite 2 attempts to rectify remains as was.

In the past couple of years I ordered the conservatory and the porch from Smith’s. Both jobs had been done to the high standards. They offered me 10 year guarantee. Any problems the member of staff came and solved it. This year I ordered new windows for the whole house. As previously the job was done to the high standards. The price was very reasonable.The windows are modern, good design. I can wash the windows myself on the upper floor thanks to their design. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

Smiths glass were highly professional from the point at which they did us a quote to the after sales service. If we have any future works done we would not hesitate to use Smiths again. Very happy customers.

We were given a good price for the two windows we had replaced (one a patio door, the other a top opening kitchen window), the measurements were with no fuss and the fitting was carried out smoothly and with the minimum of disruption, with the fitter clearing uop after himself. Altogether it was an excellent job.

I had 3 quotes for my windows and doors, Smiths, Anglian and Safestyle.i am reviewing all 3 of those companies I chose Smiths as the salesman was very good, although Smith window was not the cheap one as safestyle I was happy as I liked the salesperson, Anglian was awful Windows and door look very good and my wife is very happy with all work done. I will use again in the future when I do need other things done like other door. Very happy V Patel

We have reported all issues mentioned and the response as always been delayed or there as not been called back. We have tried to reported as per website and no respond. First of all I have been unable to open the the bi fold doors in this hot weather, I have concerns over locks on bifold doors , can open but difficult to lock. Always been been a issue with locks from the beginning till now . Window pane window on lantern replace it with wrong glass should have been blue but replace it clear , first maintenance person who came to the house was fully aware what needed to done and second maintenance person who came knew what required to be done and made note of all the issues including colour of the window pane. The gasket inside the frame was damage from the insulation as the second maintenance man said there screw coursing the issue which not correctly screwed in, reported it ,the response from Smith's was that you must have damage the gasket, ask to replace there they only repair. Basically you are saying that we damage the roof and the gutting( brackets) as no one as been up there ,nor any window cleaner as you suggesting . All the issues that we have had since signing the agreement There been no one from company to come house to check the defects on the issues we have had. No quality control after installation. There is no issue paying the balance,all I want is all the issues rectify. All correspondence regarding issues we have in emails with us and Smith's.

Installation started on suggested date, fitter (Scot) was courteous, polite, clean and tidy throughout the 3 day installation all unwanted materials and waste were removed from each room after new window installed. Upon completion site was left tidy.

When I first placed my order I had a cheaper quote but had a few issues when I tried to cancel. In the end Smiths bettered the quote I had and after that slight hiccup they were excellent. The fitters were first class and very clean and tidy workers. I would definitely recommend this company

After searching numerous companies Smith’s came through for us. The glass door replacement was exactly what we wanted and needed. Could not recommend them more. In future we will go to them for any of our glass needs

We can’t fault this company from start to finish.The installation for whole front of house including doors was completed in 2 days the team were hard working polite clean and tidy you wouldn’t have known they had been I expected to have some broken tiles in bathroom or kitchen but no everything was fine .They brought plain glass for hallway instead of obscured an honest mistake but it was reordered and replaced the following week it took about 10 minutes. We are so happy with how it looks we wouldn’t hesitate using Smith’s again in the future

We have had a lot of work completed by Smiths in the past and the products they provide are excellent. As soon as something goes wrong they are absolutely useless. You log an issue with their service department and get no response, when you call them after a month to see what is happening just get told that they cant tell you when they will get round to your issue and offer no help what so ever. We have used them to completely glaze our last 2 houses but will not use them again as have left us with a leaking gutter that was fitted poorly by them with no sign of them coming to even look at the issue! UPDATE FOLLOWING RESPONSE I did e-mail in the picture on the 8th June at 12:22pm so you should have that. The works were not carried out over 8 months ago, probably closer to 6. The leak is on the join with my Neighbors so wasn't aware that it was leaking until they notified me but i dont think a new gutter leaking within 6 months is a great sign anyway. No ladders etc have been up there. My main problem is the response to the issue not the issue itself. When I contacted your service depart this week they told me that they couldn't tell me when they would be coming as there is only 1 person dealing with issues and there is an 18 month backlog, they couldn't say if anybody would come round within a week, month or a year which I don't think is acceptable when we paid over £4,000 for new gutters, sofits, etc and they leak within 6 months.

The whole experience, from having the salesman round,to the surveyor appointment, and up to the fitting was first class. There was a small issue that arose a little while after fitting was completed, but the after sales service team resolved that with no problems and very promptly. Would definitely have no issues with passing this company on to anyone who was interested in having new windows fitted.
