May 08,2018Great quality. Just be sure you give accurate measurements. It will save u money in the long run!! And although you are allowed to send back equipment for a credit..... no one ever responded to me and so I’m stuck with stuff I will never use again. Not the best at post purchase customer service!

May 08,2018The good and bad in that order I ordered 3000$ worth of posts, hand railing and hardware. I purchased the “drive tight” system. At first the gentleman I spoke with (Austin) who helped me get all the information I needed to order the product was amazing! Polite and very professional while my wife and I were trying to decide which product we wanted. We were on a three way call. We got the product ordered and then it took almost 2 months to receive. Kind of excessive but hey their product is beautiful online so we didn’t care. Received the call that the shipper wanted to deliver the day after next. Now here’s where it started getting weird . I purchased a delivery service which states in my contract that the driver will deliver to first floor or 1 up or down as long as there’s an elevator it will fit in. I only needed it brought in the front room which is street level. I spoke with the rep of the delivery service and just reminded her of the service I purchased since my wife was the only one that was going to be home. She told me they will not bring it anywhere that they will just leave in the street if that’s where the driver felt it was necessary. I did speak with stair supplies about this issue and requested my 70$ shipping fee back which they gladly refunded and told me they have been having issues with that service. Now going back to before the delivery. I received an email from stair supplies that stated “you must check all contents for missing and/or damaged pieces before signing for the delivery. We are not responsible if you sign for the shipment and something is missing and/or damaged”. I called stair supplies they told me that is correct. I will be responsible for shipping and purchasing new product if missing or damaged. I thought this was unreasonable but if that’s their rules that’s what we will do. (There was only 100 pieces to go through and check) Now when I mentioned this to the delivery lady on the phone she told me “absolutely not. We will not wait for you to check any of it. If you don’t sign we won’t drop”. I wasn’t going to argue on the phone. I told my wife to check it all on the truck before you sign it and then he can drop it. Delivery day... wife calls me in a panic. Says to me that it’s 60$ every 15 min that she makes him wait and that she can’t check the product. I told her forget it. Just sign it. We will deal with stair supplies if something is wrong . Nothing was missing and nothing was damaged. We got worked up for no reason. But like I said stair supplies refunded the money for that shipping cost. Now to the bad. Time to start install. Was able to put 3/4 of the posts and handrails up and started the drive tight system (drilling holes, crimping wire and screwing it into the post to tighten). I got 10 pieces done which was the section that overlooks upstairs to downstairs. Past the railing system it’s a straight drop to the first floor. Now to keep the barrel nut in the up right position the directions show a tool to hold the barrel Nut in the upright position. I did not have this. When I called stair supplies and asked why I wasn’t sent one I was told “we discontinued that tool. It was not working like we planned. We have been having a lot of issues with the drive tight system”. Well how to I keep the nut from spinning. “Take a flat head screwdriver and when you tighten the screw wedge it in there and keep it from turning”. This was a nightmare but doable. Now I get a call from my wife l, Sterling (our at the time 11 month old baby who was barely walking and needed to use things to assist him in his balance ) just pulled out the cables. I didn’t understand. She tried to explain it to me but I didn’t understand. So we waited until I got home. He was able to get 4 of the 10 cables to literally pull out of the crimps ( mind you, you have to purchase their tools which includes the crimper tool). Well apparently a 25 pound baby can pull the cables out. I tested this myself. I put very minimal weight on a cable and poof it pulls from the crimp. This product is clearly for show and would not save someone from falling through ( in our case if my wife wasn’t watching sterling he could have fell through and died). I now email them because we have a real safety issue and I want it in writing now. I explain what happened. The response was “ I will forward to my installer and find out what is happening”. That was Thursday. Friday I ask if we heard anything. No response. Monday ask what’s going on. No response. Monday afternoon I call my credit card company and dispute the charge. I do not recommend buying this product. It is not safe and I honestly don’t know how it would pass a home inspection. Unfortunately this very pretty railing system Is only that. All Aesthetics and no function.

Stairs supplies is to me the most honest trustworthy stair company with really great people that you can 100% count on to deliver the very best product on the market. God is doing something great at this company. Doing any project on your own is a little nerve racking. I know for me I can be a perfectionist when it comes to home improvement, so when stairs supply says that their products are made for the do it yourselfer, well they hit the nail on the head. The instructions were amazing and the online videos were just what I needed. My wife and I toured the plant with Darby Showalter and the owner even stopped by to talk as well. All the workers were amazing at their jobs; true quality and craftsmanship definitely goes into their products and design. WOW!! Ordering extra things I wanted for my stairs was simple and fast. They new exactly what I needed and helped me in the right direction. I’m so glad God lead us to stair supplies. It just couldn’t have gone any better.
