If good customer service was about talking over customers, an inability to respond to, or to respond timely, with logical solutions, then this is the umbrella company for you. That’s been my personal experience from start to finish. A short lived relationship I may add, with no apologies or support to rectify a payment shortfall, which went on for 8 weeks (partly due to my recruitment agency and systems), auto enrolling me into a pension scheme, despite sending written confirmation of an opt out. Then, making up excuses for doing so, which just aren’t legal or valid when the organisation failed to arrange the paperwork ahead of the 12-week auto enrolment deadline. I was advised I had to wait for a welcome pack to opt out, which isn’t part of the legal requirement around pensions. Paperwork! Meanwhile, the pension company doesn’t have a record for me yet, so why deduct pension contributions when a) I wrote to confirm opt out and b)the pension company hadn’t been informed so this was an internal process failing. Being talked over, with attitude and not even apologising for any miss communication, poor communication or internal process inefficiencies and duplication failings, isn’t the way to retain or secure new customers. Obviously, everyone can have a different experience, as we all do with every business and human being we interact with, but paying £21 a week for the privilege is surely something you’ll want to think about.

I Had a very lovley call with Sara regarding my account with Sterling she was very helpful to me an helped my inquiry.
Nothing to complain about. Very low margin, same day payment + less payroll costs + Very good Customer service. The only con I can think of is the pension cycle dates are bit longer when paying directly to your SIPP account otherwise had a smooth experience with Sterling group.
Everyone I spoke in Sterling is very responsive. They paid attention to client requirements and managed to solve all the issues I had.

I just had to join sterling umbrella company as my agency told me thats who pays us. Well what do o think of them. They are rude on the phone, they have an attitude problem with their call centre staff. I was told that im a lier from information that my agency point of contact gave me. You know how I deal with umbrella companys that have no respect towards people that you steal your wages. They call it a company margin. Yeah how you gonna take my money if I don't work the hours. Fuk you sterling umbrella company

After a mis-understanding in using the expenses portal for the first time Laura wise has gone above and beyond in making sure my expenses were correct on payday , taking time to explain everything not once but twice so I am grateful to her for not ignoring my call and helping me out . Cheers .
