Dear ‘person who replied to this review’, Your reply is a similar non- empathic response which I have had from your colleagues. My concerns may be minimal to you but not minimal to me. I have personally emailed you to explain why I don’t like your reply… and yet you reply again in the same manner. You have taken nothing on board and I stand by comments in my email to you. Communication is appalling as all readers can now see for themselves. Please don’t contact me again on Trust Pilot- you have my phone number and I will tell you personally all the difficulties I have had with Umbrella over six months.
I researched the umbrella space in depth before entering into a contract with a LA. There were many promises from other companies in relation too retaining almost 90% of income. However and being aware of the IR35 legislation, this company offered the best advice ore contract. One of the directors “Dexter” spent time going through the legislation with me. Off course the fee this company charges is standard in in some instances within the middle of the highest to lowest. Pay has always been maximised with the company adjusting tax status monthly, I have never experienced late payment. The correct funds have always been paid. The customer service has been responsive and informative. I would be using this company again and I would recommend them. I am a co tracts manager and scrutinise contracts, I always expect a fair deal and Umbrella.co.uk have delivered that consistently. Therefore I am surprised reading some of the negative reviews. My client has at times been difficult but Umbrella has smoothed out those difficulties even when time sheets where submitted late. This is a good reputable company with integrity. If you do not want the tax Man turning up two years down the line. Claiming you were directly employed then these are the guys to use. £35 per week for the payroll / taxation function, assuming the financial risks of bridging invoice gaps. Has for me been value for money.
I have been with Umbrella for a while. There have always been issues of some sort - but there were always resolved reasonably ok. But the issues I’ve encountered over recent weeks have now made me absolutely livid!!! Just to be paid my hard worked earnings (in a timely manner) is a major, major, major feat!!! I contacted customer services yesterday and today to ensure that all was ‘present and correct’ for this week’s payment - each time I was assured that I was going to be paid. It’s nearly 8pm on Friday, 4th June. Still no pay!!! So yet again my personal commitments cannot be paid in time this month. It was the same last month, even though I acknowledge that delayed pay was not entirely their fault, but they still needed to handle matters better. I’ve also asked for a copy of HMRC documentation to be sent to me - urgently! This still remains outstanding - my request was even declined initially. (I had to remind Umbrella that the data relates to me). I’m amazed at the total lack of customer care, due diligence and professionalism Umbrella show in dealing with the very people that are the cause of Umbrella’s existence. I’ll be looking for a new umbrella company now ... it takes too much effort to do my own work while trying to ensure that Umbrella do theirs! They get one star as I’m not able to select less.
Very poor service. Failed to respond to x3 messages left on support ansafone. Query involved payroll problem. Not recommended. Will be changing Umbrella supplier when my contract ends and renewed at the end of month. Very expensive for the service provided...£60/month.
Emailed them about my contract details, never got an answer. Emailed again about the timesheets and missing payments, no response again. Tried online chat, no response. I have not received a payment for a new contract and would be lovely if someone would talkt to me. This review is a long time coming after being ignored one too many times
They keep inventing weird deductions on your payslip. Every week you get a different amount and some weird deduction on your payslip. Untrustworthy Future update to your reply. Two words. LIES, LIES
KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY THE WORSE EVER. Terrible service, rude staff encouraged by management who’s attitude is sign them up and ignore them. Can’t get through, harassment by staff and no one able to help. Just been told by , customer service manager, that the company encourages staff to break the law as you cannot get through to anyone to complain as customer services refuse to take the cases further. Was lied to from start to finish. They refuse to abide by GDPR and sell or give away your personal information and then your harassed by other companies. Stay well away from these cowboys and use a proper umbrella company there is a wide choice out there don’t let them con you out of your money, and then hold money back so you feel you can’t leave as they make it clear they will hold back your money till end of the tax year. Shockingly corrupt from bottom to the top.
I am having an absolutely terrible time with Umbrella. I have been with them for approx a year and since the beginning of 2021, I'm not sure what has happened, but the service has been absolutely terrible. Whenever I do have an issue (which is every month) I can never get through on the phone. When I leave a message, no one calls back. I email and no one emails back. If I do get through to anyone via phone or email, I am passed from person to person to person and the problem is never dealt with. I was left for 3 nearly 4 weeks without payment. I missed very important payments that could have landed homeless. I am absolutely devastated, disappointed and shocked at the lack of communication, desire to help or solve issues.
Never paid on time, I have to chase constantly and no one gets back to you. It can be days before payment gets cleared. Become a sole trader so you don't have to bother with them.
I worked with Umbrella for 18+ months during my last contracting role. I would highly recommend them. As someone new to contracting they helped set me up and guide through the process with ease. Any problems or issues I have had have been sorted out quickly and efficiently. Payments always on time which was really the most important part for me.
Incompetent company. Avoid at all cost. I've had issues with my pay every month since joining. They mix up the numbers and usually pay the wrong amount for reasons they usually can't explain. Sometimes they don't pay on time and will give you a lousy excuse for it. Payslips also arrive late every month, and you are unable to check your pay details for as many as seven or ten days after being paid. The payslips are always unclear and you have to chase them to get any sort of explanaition of what's going on. They don't reply to the emails or if they do, it's weeks later. Plenty of excuses every time. They usually choose to make a phone call instead of writing an email so that you can't have any proof whatsoever of what they say. They make unacceptable mistakes every time. You pay their services to end up having to take care of your payslips yourself every month, having to double check every single thing they do because they're never right. When I joined, they refused to include my actual pay rate in the contract. Most untrustworthy company I've ever had to dealt with. They are a bunch of corrupt liars.
Great customer support from Laura Wright at Umbrella.co.uk. Even in the current covid situation, Laura has always replied to my emails promptly and replied to my queries and provided me with all documents which I needed or could not able to find on the portal. Laura is doing a great job. Thank you.
I have had a good experience with Umbrella over the 5 years I have dealt with them. More recently Chantelle Norcross helped me significantly since she really owned the resolution of my problems and issues. She has always been friendly and efficient seeing things through to a successful conclusion - thank you.
I used Umbrella whilst contracting for a short period. I have enjoyed an excellent level of service, and have been really happy with the customer experience. I have found that my emails and queries are responded to incredibly quickly, and the team have been a great help. Very much would recommend.
Very promp in lockdown aswell. In past had few issues but seams getting better. Definitely up their game over time. Will recomend any one who is looking for a proactive umbrella. Good job Darren 😘👍

Amazing service! Over the last couple of years, I had the pleasure of working with Sheraz Sheikh who managed my accounts and the closure of my company and I can't recommend him or the team highly enough. Sheraz really took the stress out of the process with HMRC even commenting at the end when I deregistered for self-assessment (and with some degree of surprise), that all my business returns had been submitted on time and they had absolutely no issues with any of my accounts. Jun 15,2021Okay, so I’m slightly baffled reading the negative reviews...so here’s a little from my experience with umbrella UK as an accountant for my limited company & as a umbrella company for when I needed to switch over. (Due to IR35) My Review for the Umbrella UK Accountancy service for my limited company: Nicola Worthington is an exceptional accountant, I opened and closed/dissolved my limited company through umbrella UK (due to IR35) and she’s been so patient with my 100s of questions as a director. She’s seen through everything from start to finish with HMRC and is extremely professional and polite. if I need to arrange a date or time going through something with her in more detail, she’s always ready to help me and willing to clarify anything and everything. (I personally feel like she deserves a bonus/pay rise for going the extra mile for the clients she’s been assigned). Jessica O’Brien is the second person I’d like to mention as extremely helpful with training me on how to use the “FreeAgent” tool for tracking my business finances. I arranged a zoom call with her last year and she was very informative even allowing me to record the call for viewing later if I needed to go over something again. 100% trusted. As someone who’s never opened a limited company, I’d highly recommend the accountancy team 1000%. ————————————————————————— My Review for Umbrella UK , umbrella service: Nicholas Ginindza was one of the first people I spoke to from sales and has been very responsive on his own even when his team members might be a little delayed. He’s clarified and escalated all my issues on a timely manner. Peter Langham is the final person I’d like to mention as doing a great job and prioritising matters where needed. I’ve been using umbrella UKs service for about 2 months since switching over and a few minor errors were made with the switch over however I believe Peter has helped sort these out even giving me a free week for the inconvenience. (He is out of office atm but I’m sure he’ll respond to my latest query upon returning). Only negative from this part of the service: I would like to see more responsiveness from the standard umbrella UK service team, I appreciate there are many more candidates using the standard umbrella UK service rather than the accountancy service which seems more specialised ...but maybe this lack of communication and responsiveness could be something to improve on in future? Otherwise the umbrella UK accountancy team is second to none. Overall when my issue is passed from team member to team member, the collaboration and communication is spot on, I don’t feel like I’m being passed around and ignored like others report here, everything just flows like clock work and is resolved fairly.
