Umbrella.co.uk has always been a fantastic umbrella company to work through. They process my timesheets each week and I’m always on time every Friday. If I ever do have an issue, the customer services department are always able to help and sort any queries that I do have very quickly.
I went to this company after having such a dismal experience with another Umbrella Company. On the face of things these looked okay, but first impressions can be deceiving. Everything got set up smooth enough, but let's face it, when a company is after your business how else are they going to treat you (i.e. much the same as the dodgy car dealer). So once I was on the books firmly in place it was now time to get access to there portals, so that I could view payslips and other things. They were very keen to get me to telephone, but as with calling it is your word against there's, hence I preferred the email route. This was also a problem because everytime i emailed it was either lost or never received and they always had an excuse for every eventuality (basically teflon coated). Umbrella have a "Customer Charter" and in it quotes a maximum time of 4 working hours to respond, via telephone or no later than 4pm by email the same day, otherwise the following day. Yet it took four emails over 4 weeks to get access to the payslip portal. Never once did I receive an apology and now only recently it has taken them over a week to release my P45. But get this, Umbrella want me to believe that they sent my P45 a week ago and for what ever reasons it got lost on the Ethernet. That old chestnut, I have been working in electronics for 39 years as a designer and to this date have never seen emails get lost over Ethernet. They only get lost if the incorrect email address has been entered, so be honest and own up. So the upshot here is a dishonest Umbrella company, who have an excuse for everything. What do you take us all for, well needless to say I will not be using this company ever again, either. Which begs the question is there a good alternative to using e-commerce based accounting companies such as Umbrella Company Limited and in a word yes, I think the best alternative would be to use an accountant that is usually found on the high street. Admittedly it may cost more, but the bottom line is that you will be able to look them in the eye knowing you are getting a good deal.
Umbrella have always been helpful and prompt. I've never had an issue to complain and payment has always been on time.

I signed up with Umbrella.co.uk in 2017 and was most pleased with their FreeAgent tool that kept me up to date with all my Ltd company affairs. When I had to dissolve the company they were very supportive and provided all the information that I needed to complete dissolution. I had signed up to their Maximum Value package and although I stopped using Umbrella.co.uk during 2018, HMRC advised that I had to do a tax return for 2018/19, I started doing it myself and stumbled upon how to declare foreign income. I prayed then out of the blue Umbrella.co.uk got in touch on during the last fortnight of January 2020 and advised me that since I was on their Maximum Value plan, they could complete my self assessment. It was a blessing in disguise. I submitted all required information on their very comprehensive questionnaire income and tax paid over 2018/2019 and within 4 working days, they returned advising that my self assessement was complete and ready for submission. Upon review of the return I actually had a tax rebate which was most welcome as I had outstanding tax liability with HMRC for 2017/18 which was completely wiped out and further to that there was left over lolly which came at a time I had just finished a contract and looking for the next opportunity. I positively recommend anyone looking for an accountant for their LTD company to join Umbrella.co.uk's Maximum Value Plan as it is a great service and their service exemplary. This is the first time I have used Umbrella.co.uk. I was very happy with the service they provided. Emails were replied to in good time and they sorted out everything for me so I didn’t have to chase up timesheets and payments myself. Very excellent service
I used these as a first time agency worker for 8 months. I never had a problem contacting them. I got paid early for xmas and was always paid on time.
Really enjoyed being a contractor with them. Everything was fast and swift, payments came quickly, questions were answered and explained quite well. Would re-use them if I decide to become a contractor again
I've been really impressed by Umbrella.co.uk. They are efficient and communicate very well. Unusually, if you have a query, you can ring up and actually speak to someone who seems informed and can often clear the issue there and then. On the few occasions when this hasn't been possible, Umbrella staff have promised to investigate and come back to me, and have done just that, usually in the same day. I would highly recommend their services
