We got to see a lot of the famous landmarks and memorials, as well as a lot of great museums in the DC area. Of course, outside events threw some wrenches into some aspects like the inauguration, but our guide Mike Sands did an excellent job navigating the changes and led us to a pretty amazing and fulfilling trip.

World strides was amazing to our RTMS middle school inauguration group. I loved Susie our tour guide. We had to leave early and the company accommodated us PERFECTLY. Got us all home safe back to Texas before the storm.

The trip was a great experience however we were told that some of our lunches were paid for, and they were not. Many of the more interesting and long museums we didn’t have much time for, however smaller less interesting ones we were in for the longest time. The tour guide Walter was very nice and amazing! Overall I enjoyed the trip however there was definitely some things I wish were done differently.

This was a VERY expensive 3 day trip to Washington DC for the Presidential inauguration ($3000). While some things were out of everyone's control (not actually being able to go to the inauguration) my sons group spent a great deal of time being transported from one activity to another, each place turning into an unsuccessful sight seeing attempt. When this much money is involved, I expect there to be better organization than this. Dinner were supposed to be included in the cost of the trip. For two of these dinners, a voucher of sorts was given. One of them didn't work, and the students had to pay out of pocket for their meal and the other wasn't enough to cover the cost of a simple hamburger meal in a city as costly as DC. The hotel was nice. There was security and and doctor on call. My son had a good time. He was with friends and his favorite teacher away from home, so of course fun was had, but I will not be using this company again for a travel experience.

Our guide was pleasant and reasonably well informed. The transportation and lodgings were adequate, though the hotel was very remote requiring excessive unnecessary travel time back and forth to D.C. While mealtimes were announced, the cutoff time was not resulting in many children being denied access to breakfast. The structure of the tour itself was poor. No access to the interior of the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, or Capital. No tickets reserved for the National Archives. Short time allotment for high value locations, including the Smithsonian museums, while too much time was spent at less interesting locations. The money cards did not cover what they said they would cover and were all declined after they were issued. Even the kids were disappointed spending time at a bowling alley instead of taking advantage of the limited time in our nation’s capital. Also, several hours were spent in a shopping mall over two days, instead of visiting attractions. The highlights of the trip (including a guided tour through the US Capital on Inauguration Day) were deviations we proposed and organized privately without WorldStrides and despite some pushback. I would not recommend this program. I would, instead, organize a parent group to organize a private trip and hire a local guide if the free tours offered at the locations prove unsatisfactory. No offense to our pleasant guide, but it was a very expensive trip and could easily have been done at half the price with half the frustration.

Robert, our tour guide, was phenomenal. Even when our plans unexpectedly changed due to inclement circumstances, Robert always found a way for us to enjoy the trip. From the presidential trivia on the bus, to knowing everything when it came to the monuments, he made the trip what it was.

I have to give the trip 5 stars because the Explorica employees, Tour Directors, and local guides are AMAZING. I was upset that connecting flights were booked within 1 hour of each other, which did cause me to miss my initial flight from Paris to Rome. I will also add that some of the food was not great (burnt, over or under-cooked, etc). However, I understand that I was in a huge group and the hotel and restaurants were trying to accommodate us as best they could. Even though the flights were not ideal, the airline and Explorica both helped me immediately. The tours were fun and incredible, and it was super educational. Again, if I had to give one area for improvement, it would be the flights. But otherwise, this trip was perfect!

Mike, our tour director made this whole trip worthwhile. He was knowledgeable, honest, explained things well, gave great recommendations, and was generally a great guy. We had so much fun with him. In fact, once he left us at the airport to come home, many of our students (16 - 18 year olds) stated that the trip just wasn't the same without Mike. The pacing of the tour was a little fast in Italy, but it was perfect in Greece. Of course, we would not have seen and experienced as much as we did if the pace had been slower. There are 2 things that would have made the tour better. 1) Although this may not be feasible due to timing, we would have liked to have seen some of Milan, which is where we landed. Instead, we immediately got on the bus and headed for Verona. 2) Please never use the pizza restaurant we went to in Florence again. It was truly awful.

I got to meet Bryan Shields, who I have worked with on the trips for the last several years. It was nice to meet him in person and really get to know him. San Diego was amazing. The resort was nice. I wish we had more time at Torrey Pines Nature Reserve to do some trails, we only had about 45 minutes.

The seamless process. Signed up, luckily was not placed on a waiting list and my son had a great time.

It was amazing! I got to meet new, like-minded educators from across North America and make connections. Actually some were quite surprising in how we already were connected. Seeing history up close was startling in such a good way. The only downside was the VERY SHORT layover in which I had to pass through customs. I get than 1 hour is "enough," except that it is not.

The entire trip was amazing. Each day was packed with activities and perfectly organized. Our tour director was not only knowledgeable but also had a warm and friendly demeanor. The Explorica team was incredibly supportive and always there when we needed assistance. This is our first international school trip. I gathered invaluable travel ideas from fellow teachers that I’ll be using for our trip. After participating in the Teacher Training Program, I now feel much more comfortable and informed about what to expect for our trip to the Galapagos in May.

The timing of everything was perfect. Stuck to the schedule well. The trip was filled with fun experiences. It also gave us the opportunity to view the leaders of the group and how they handled a group of travelers. It was beneficial and I look forward to leading my own trip this summer.

My group leader training trip to Costa Rica was informative, fun, and helped me decide where to bring our students next summer. The Explorica staff was professional and totally approachable. They mingled with the educators and shared their wealth of knowledge with us. The other educators on the trip were very friendly and outgoing. The trip was well planned, and we did a lot in a short time together. I am grateful to our tour leader who shared her beautiful country with us. I had a great time!
