Our tour director was exceptional
Our guide, Michael Wighton was tremendous. He was so helpful and organized. He was thoughtful, kind, super knowledgeable, and friendly. He was a great resource for kids and coaches. The kids connected with him as well as the adults. He's a real pro and was critical to making our experience so wonderful.
I would have liked to have a choice for dinner, only 4 nights out of 12 had any choice, always French fries, never salad. Accommodations in one place were not very good, no hot water in sink and shower very hard to manage.
It was super fun and the friends that came along made it such a good experience. The exposure to the different culture and ways they do stuff was super neat.
We had major travel delays. It took us two days to get to Switzerland. When we missed our connection in Chicago, World strides booked us a hotel through a service (I think Expedia) and after waiting in a line at the hotel for 2 hours were told there were no rooms because they were overbooked. We were supposed to have 3-4 concerts during our 10 day stay, but only two venues actually materialized. This for a trip that had been in planning for nearly two years. We had a British tour guide for Switzerland instead of local guides who knew the country best. It felt like time after time, World Strides had dropped the ball. It was a very disappointing experience.
The start of this trip was terrible. American Airlines had a missing part that greatly delayed our trip. Explorica was confused and not helpful during this stressful situation. It took American so long that we missed an entire day at Hawaii. I understand that Explorica could not change what American did, but we should have gotten a refund for missing meals and not going to the mountains. Better communication and a refund would have made this much better. The rest of the trip was great. I had a blast in Australia and New Zealand. Everyone and everything was great there
Buck our tour guide was incredible! He not only gave us valuable information, but also allowed the students to take in the information we were passing by. Rich at the hotel was great and organized and Tony our driver was safe, on time and also informative.
Our tour guide was fantastic. I wish our hotels had air conditioning, but the overal tour was amazing.
The trip as a whole was wonderful. Learned a lot of Scottish history. Our tour guide was very knowledge and fun. Packed so much into 9 days. The one thing that was disappointing was the pre-planned dinners. Food was just mediocre.
The first trip my daughter took had them leaving at a terrible hour. Once they landed (without sleep) they were left for the entire day to their own devices in the heat without anywhere to sleep. The second trip coming home was also terrible. The flight they were on had trouble and had to return to the airport, was cancelled, then they tried to rebook the group all in different flights home as minors ALONE on international flights. The next flight they got wasn’t until two days later and had them going to a different state. Then they had to fight to get transport to the original destination. For the price of the trips, I was disappointed with the travel schedule.
As a chaperone, I had to take a sick student back to the hotel. The Lyft was called for me, we were delivered and our world strides liaison met me there. He got a Gatorade and crackers for the sick student, helped me get settled and offered to get us anything we needed. Promptly, an agent called to Tell me we had access to a tele doc and urgent care if needed and to save all receipts of food purchased. In a big, unfamiliar city, this was invaluable. Rich, our liaison, was wonderful. My only constructive criticism is that we need healthier food options on the vouchers. We can’t control the heat, but we can control what we put into our body and the amount of salty, greasy foods do not help. Overall- incredibly flawless!
Andy, Barry, and James made our experience awesome! The Manchester Stadium Tour with Linda was amazing. Loved the Arsenal game too. The friendly games, practices, and the coaching clinic were wonderful. The food provided at the hotels was not great and not good at all, at times. I think many people on the tour would have liked a little bit longer free times in London, Manchester, and Liverpool. A washer and dryer at the hotels would have been an added bonus.
It was a great experience and wonderful trip. The only thing was limited days of the trip.. the schedule was full everyday, our guide and driver are wonderful people . Would go again and hope more days plan…
My main critique would be that the company was unable to provide airline and ticketing information until just before leaving for the trip. That gave us little time to plan around those important details, which was an issue since we had to account for nonstandard types of luggage for our abroad project. Our itinerary was also provided on the later side. Otherwise, a pretty good experience.
The tour guides were great. The buses were top quality. We saw so many great things and it was a memorable trip. I expected better quality for the hotel. Would recommend also selecting a hotel with a pool and a little more downtime for the kids in the evening to relax.

Aug 21,2024Loved my trip overall. We did not get to experience Hawaii to the fullest due to a 16 hour delay from our home airport to DFW. Explorica threw their hands up and shrugged. They were not great at communicating to the tour group and even the tour guide what was going on. The tour guide messaged the group leader that we were about to land, but we were still at our home airport. Hawaii- One person from the tour group made it to Hawaii on time since their departure airport was different. The tour guide took their own family to the dinner that OUR GROUP paid for. No refund has been granted for the almost 2 days missed in Hawaii. I do not expect it to be granted, considering the quality of customer service. Australia and New Zealand were great though. Tour guides were informative and friendly. Once the trip got back on track it was great!
