overall fun experience but we didn't get a lot of food
The trip was amazing. However, our flight there got bumped a day late which caused us to lose 2 days and WorldStrides way of making it up to us was to tour Minneapolis -- umm, hello you can see we live in Fargo, which is 3 hours away from there. That's a regular trip for over 50% of the people who went on the trip. When you do the math per person, per day we lost out over $1k each while you pocketed that. We asked for a tour of Amsterdam instead since we had a 6 hour layover and you said we wouldn't have time - yeah right. Glad you got a nice bonus on our vacation! Some type of refund, meal tickets, an extra tour outside of MN should have been offered/given. But, the good thing is, is that the travelers enjoyed themselves, the sites, food, and made it home safely.
Our tour guide Jean Luc was amazing. I loved how we had stuff to do together and then also had free time to do our own stuff in the city. I also liked spending time with my friends and getting to know the people in my travel group.
Really well organized, a balance of learning new things with a little fun in the evenings! Kids were very well taken care of!
Everyone we worked with from WorldStrides was very accommodating and helpful. You could tell they enjoyed their job and wanted us all to have the best experience possible. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and connected with the kids right away. As the program leader it was extremely helpful that everything was so well organized for the attractions and meals. Due to our numbers we were on two different busses and therefore had two different tour guides. I was not prepared for how separated the two busses would be and for some students this was upsetting because they thought they would get to spend more time with friends from the other bus. Our tour guides also had totally different styles and didn't mesh well together, so even though both busses had a positive experience, it felt like they had two different experiences. When I brought this to our tour guides' attention they were quick to respond and provide solutions. In the future it would be nice if the tour guides worked together beforehand to create similar activities and experiences at the attractions, even if the group needs to split up. Our on-site coordinators were wonderful as well as our nighttime chaperones. They went above and beyond the call of duty- even plunging a toilet one night and picking up plates for our pizza party. Overall the people on the ground supporting our tour is what made this experience so memorable for our students. We are very grateful for this opportunity and are looking forward to our trip next year!
Overall, my experience was great! Everyne involved was helpful and knowledgable. Dilcia and Sean was the most amazing people the entire trip. They were helpful and always made sure we were safe and well taken care of.
Everything was very organized and well orchestrated. The only thing that could have been better in my opinion were the buses. We had a student in a wheelchair and the bus they sent to pick us up from the school had a lift that did not work and a bathroom that smelled very strongly of urine before anyone in our group had used it. A second bus overheated several times on the drive to New York causing us to have to make additional stops, once on the side of the highway, and wait for it to cool down. We also had to switch our backpacks and luggage several times due to switching buses.
John was the best!
Loved the trip once we arrived in New York. Amazing tour guides, great places and just an all around awesome 48 hours. I feel the same way about DC. Great plans, great places and a good tour guide. The bus situation was horrible. It started by not having a workable wheel chair lift and the problems continued from there. The drivers were great, but the transportation, not so great.
Having buses that contain holding tanks for the excess sewage would be great. Asking students, parents, and staff not to use the bathroom facilities because "IT" would be with you all week in this day and age is unbelievable. Having buses without mechanical breakdowns would be beneficial. Having your staff in the NY hotel that does not yell at students due our tardiness because the buses broke down would increase our experience.
Ms. Kate did a fantastic job giving us a tour of Washington D.C. She engaged with the kids, gave them challenges and made it a fun learning experience. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because we were rushed through too many sights. I would have preferred to skip the Air and Space museum to give us more time at the American and Natural History museum. We also needed more time at the Holocaust museum. We missed out on so much information because of the restricted time frame. The second issue we had was the food. A lot of the kids and adults went hungry because the food options were limited.
It was a verry fun experience, the only thing I would have changed was the beach time. We only went for about two to three hours the whole trip
The tour guide (Josh) was awesome, and the itinerary was very good. My only suggestion would be to avoid giving middle school boys a task to get a picture at a monument and then run back for a prize; this made them lose focus of the sights and then miss out. The buses were very poor. No A/C one one. The other with a check engine light. Massive delays in both directions beyond just unavoidable traffic. Bathrooms never cleaned and no hand sanitizer/soap. Travel days were 1 Star. Tour and guide was 5 Star. Hence, 3 Stars.
The guide, Josh, was incredible! He knew EVERYTHING! Really appreciated his insights, organization, and engagement.
This was a fun, amazing trip! All our WS Guides were very knowledgeable, fun and witty. The food was incredible and no one went hungry.
From the initial pre-trip planning, to getting our parents informed and students enrolled, to the execution of the trip, World Strides is a first rate experience! I am so grateful for the knowledgeable, relational guides who go above and beyond making the trip both highly educational, but also relationship building. Despite doing this week after week, our students walk away getting their once in a lifetime trip! We are thankful for the intentionality of World Strides and look forward to coming back year after year.
Our guide, Elton, was the best guide I've had with Worldstrides. This is my 6th trip with Worldstrides. He did such a great job explaining about the sites on our Rome trip. He was always cheerful and kind to us. He's someone anyone can get along with. He was very flexible and patient with us. All the other guides also did well. The guide we had for the Sistine Chapel was the only one that needed to slow down and needed to allow the students to take in the experience of seeing all the great art on display. The Vatican was a little rushed as well. We come from a Catholic school so that tour should have been a little longer. Pompeii, Ostia Antica, Tivoli, and Gladiator School were highlights as well. The Hotel was also great and having the tour bus really helped to get around. One suggestion would be to allow for some menu options for dinner.
Our guide, Josh, was amazing! Engaging, knowledgeable, funny, he really brought DC to life. We saw so many amazing sites while touring the area. Not sure if we tried doing all that on our own, we would have succeeded or learned as much as we did. The trip on the bus to and from DC was a completely different story. Aggressive driving, hard braking, lane drifting, no A/C, One bus broke down on the highway and we put kids in one bus to get them to safety. The other bus got lost for nearly 2.5hrs going back to pick up stranded parents. We missed our first stop and dinner. Ride home took over 12 hrs. Drivers had been on bus since 7:30am. Were't relieved until 2am. Should have been relieved earlier.
It's really a tale of 2 trips. Our guide, Josh, was absolutely amazing! Knowledgeable, engaging, funny. He really brought the sites to life. Saw some amazing places and learned so much while enjoying ourselves. Josh really brought DC to life. However, the bus ride to and from DC left a lot to be desired. Aggressive driving, hard braking, lane drifting, no A/C... then when one of the buses broke down we crammed kids on one bus to get them to a safe location. Sent our bus back to pick up stranded parents on the side of a highway and it got lost for nearly 2.5 hrs. We missed our first museum and dinner. Bus company didn't have emergency line. If booking a bus tour I would strongly suggest making sure World Strides has completely vetted out the bus company.
