I had a great experience once I could find the tutor I wanted. At first it was hard because I had to search ESL MTEL tutor (a tutor for ESL teachers) not a tutor for ELL students. I had gotten discouraged at first when I only found teachers who either helped on the MTEL or only ELLs, and didn't feel they were capable of helping on the exam. Finally, I found a perfect fit, who taught a range of ELL students and felt capable of supporting me for the exam. I had six sessions with her and I feel confident for my exam tomorrow!

Why spend $200 for a tutor that I could get for much less than that for the same quality tutor? Also, the response rate and bios of all the tutors made it easy to choose, even though they were all great! Wyzant has been a great platform for learning. Ive even surpassed my peers in my classes because of Wyzant based on the questions they ask.

The tutor is very knowledgeable and patient. He is prompt and flexible with scheduling sessions. I would recommend him for linear algebra tutoring.

I've been a tutor with WyzAnt for several years and just never understand why people with such poor customer service keep thriving. I recently did a lesson as I was supposed to do and was supposed to get paid for it. Then the student requested that I help him cheat on an exam. I refused. He gave me a one-star rating. How is that fair? I complained to WyzAnt and all they said was that the only way I can get rid of it is if I void the lesson? Why would I be penalized even though I performed my work like I was supposed to? I find that very insulting that despite my explanations and time wasted on the phone and through emails, the reaction from WyzAnt always stays the same. This is the laziest policy that a tutoring platform can have. Many other "third-party platforms" have the same policy (Airbnb, Yelp etc..), yet they understand that the world is not black and white and always make adjustments when the circumstances call for it. I've had similar situations in the past and a quick phone call was enough to help fix everything. With their blind obedience to those ludicrous rules, they created an environment that's toxic to tutors and that no one is gaining from. Do they even benefit from having a badly reviewed tutor on their platform? No. Nobody gains from this. Except that this is more than just a tool - it's our livelihood. Tutors make money through tutoring to pay bills and the fact that my profile has now a lower rating than others significantly jeopardizes my chances of earning a decent wage. Thanks WyzAnt! From their own admission, they've looked into my other reviews and noticed that they were all five-star. Now, please take a look at who actually gave me the five-star reviews.... The same person who gave me a one-star review a couple days later! Doesn't that scream suspicious? Would somebody really be so impressed at the quality of my tutoring that they would give me a five-star rating only to then be thoroughly disappointed 4 days later and give me one star? That makes no sense and they know it. But they won't try to think for a second! They know I'm right and yet, they won't help me. WyzAnt won't stand with their tutors. You know what's even more scandalous? Tutors are the reason their business even works in the first place. They make money because WE make money. Their attitude just shows plain disrespect and disdain from the people that help them run their platform. I am not only disappointed but utterly disgusted. The solution that they offer by the way is ridiculous. They want me to go back and politely ask somebody who asked me to do something illegal if he would consider being nice enough not to take petty vengeful acts? Great. They've obviously never been in that kind of situation before. Avoid at all costs.

Jonathan is absolutely the best. I would highly recommend using his services. He helped me take my graduate school application to a whole new level. Most of all, I didn't feel judged for my writing skills. He was very compassionate and kind. He is very experienced at admission essays and it is very apparent when you work with him. I would use his services again should I ever need to.

As a teacher, this website has never been helpful for me. I've been on this website for over two years now and not even one student has responded my messages or requested classes. Waste of time for me.
