I recently just passed my test thanks to all the people at 5 day in Norwich, it was such a great week I learnt so much from my instructor Bob and found driving so enjoyable thanks to 5 day . I would recommend it to all my friends
I completed a 5-Day course in September 2022, at the Bristol centre. I wasn't starting completely from scratch when I attended 5-Day as I had had some lessons with another instructor, but I wasn't yet confident in the basics I had been introduced to. 5-Day helped me to pass my theory test within the week of the course, which I was impressed with. I also received around 20 hours of tuition for practical driving with an instructor, which helped to quickly build my knowledge and experience over the course of the week. The main reason by far for my satisfaction with 5-Day is due to my instructor, Joe Donlin. I was paired with Joe as my 5-Day instructor back in September. As I was not yet at a test-ready level at the end of the course, Joe continued to make time for driving lessons for me once the course had finished. As someone who has struggled to find an instructor in Bristol over the past few years, his willingness to continue to help his students who have gone through the 5-Day process but not yet passed was crucial to me getting the experience I needed. Joe was patient, knowledgable and great at explaining what I needed to do to improve. He very much put me at ease and I felt comfortable asking questions on what I could improve on. He also tailored lessons to fit my development areas, and I saw a marked improvement in my driving over these additional lessons. When I unfortunately failed my driving test on the first try, Joe not only continued to provide lessons but went out of his way to find me a test quickly, which really reduced any stress for me. I have now passed my test on the second try, with minors, but couldn't be happier with the result. I would recommend the 5-Day intensive course for perhaps slightly more experienced drivers, who are more confident in the basics. However, I still found it to be worthwhile. I would thoroughly recommend Joe Donlin as an instructor, both through 5-Day or externally. Thanks for your help!
VERY BAD COMPANY! DO NOT USE! Terrible! unprofessional, rude, insincere customer service. Shocking driving instructors again- rude, patronising and unprofessional. It’s all about the money! Lack of care about service or human decency. I would NOT RECOMMEND, waste of money, time, stress. False advertising-you don’t get what you pay for. Did the course in November last year was promised ‘75%’ fast track for my practical test I waited the same time as anyone else would( in the normal waiting list without fast track) ! After calling and going back and forth with emails finally got a test 4 month after- a test with a few days notice, they would not cancel for me, again loosing me out on that money. Misleading people and not very helpful through out the process and updates regarding your instructors, tests or wait time etc- again rude, aggressive customer service who SHOUT at you and PUT THE PHONE down on people who pay a huge amount of money for their services! Very unprofessional, and unacceptable for anyone to behave! Especially after paying them a huge amount of 1.4k if not more. I would not pay a penny to this company, it will only cause you regret and put stress on your mental health- not worth it. It’s now April and I will start doing the search my self, which I should’ve done my self and had a driving licence months ago. Biggest regret putting faith and money in such a bad company to do the so promised 75% so called faster search, with their untrained instuctors & customer services. Not a 5day course more like a 5+MONTH HELL. Money robbing company!
Chris Wise was a superb instructor taking me from being a very nervous non-driver to driving confidently in... you guessed it 5 days!! 10/10
did the curse paid £1508 instructor was terrible mooved back to poland before i could complete my course so basically paid £1508 to have a hazard and perception and a theory test, instructor hardly taught me anything and argued with me all the time and no im stcuk in a position where iv paid and they want me to pay more for more lessons anytime i try to ring someone to speak about it they speak down on me like im some kind of idiot i want a driving test or my money back had enough of this companys BS.
I heard about 5day through a friend who also booked the course and recommended it to me so I decided to try them out. I chose the Bristol centre as it was the most convenient for me. Because I passed my Theory Test already I requested that I did not do this part of the course. Although it did require me having to call instead of there being an option on the website, I was very impressed by how prompt and responsive 5day was on call. Prior to starting the course I had already done normal driving lessons so I was no stranger to being on the road but I hadn't learnt all the necessary manoeuvres. John, who was my instructor during the course, was quick to spot this and made a plan to ensure everything was to the correct standard. He was very patient, making it very easy to explain issues I was having. Based on those, he was able to figure out the best way to tackle the lesson. On top of this, he was very friendly which helped to calm any nerves I may have had on a particular day. I was fortunate to get a test book a week after the course, which meant intensity for that week did increase. However, there was plenty of time to work on everything so it was a case of trusting the process. Thankfully, this worked out really well as I managed to pass my practical test first time round!
Just before Christmas I went on a course with 5day, my instructor was Lynne and she was really great at teaching me how to drive, I'm happy I had Lynne. And nw I've just passed my 2nd test on the 29th of March, and nw I'm on the road and out of the rain.
It is all a Lie, if i could give no stars i would. You pay all the money up front in my case £1628, Then to get told you need to pay for more lessons at the end of the course, oh and if you have a Doctors appointment that you need to attend you will get classed as not doing the course, so you will not qualify for any retest of any kind. Also she Missed only 4 hours of the whole session / Course as she was in for the 8:00am start on every day & until 12 noon on 2 of the days as the course only runs until 2pm So i.e she was in for the Full 5 days But missed only Four hours & NOT 2 Whole days, Also the Course should be an extra half hour long i.e 2:30 but they only run until 2pm so they take away 30 minutes from every day So in reality you are mis Sold the course from the start as they say on the contract it is run from 8am to 2:30pm Biggest steal in learner driving history
I highly recommend 5 day, My driving instructor was Rob Harris and what a great instructor he is. Very calm, Paitent and friendly he allows you to learn the way you understand things ( no strict on paper learning ) Yes it's intense, but definitely the best way to learn when it comes to driving, nothing gets missed or forgotten, all done in perfect stages. Also a very adaptive team to help out and be flexible where possible. A great experience from start till finish, i had my test within 2 weeks of being ready, and passed! Great communication throughout & everyone at 5 days was nice and friendly. Worth every penny spent. Just do it!!! Thank you Rob & Thank you 5 day 👐🥳
I didn't know what to expect. It is indeed a very intensive course. My Instructor was calm and professional and gave excellent and constructive advice throughout my experience. I learned so much, but are not ready for my Driving Test yet. I am confident that after a few more lessons I will pass my test. I highly recommend this Company.
after months of rude customer service and being told lies about a refund..i had to make a claim through HM Courts & Tribunals Service online through doing that 5day finally gave me part refund back after not being able to attend the last day of practice due to illness, cant believe i had to go through all that for whats right! avoid this money grabbing horrible company. *i dont see any replies this time ;)*
Phil at the Colchester branch was absolutely amazing. He made me feel incredibly comfortable and it felt like I had known him for years. Not once did I worry about not passing. His knowledge and mannerism was incredible and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. The whole overall experience was 10/10, from booking my course I was sent an email of confirmation and was texted before hand. On the first day I had arrived Phil was waiting outside for me with a warm welcome. I had made him aware that I had already passed my theory and by Wednesday they had refunded me the £28 I initially paid for. Throughout the week we drive in different conditions and on different roads so I was full prepared for driving in future. We did all of the test routes and I was guided through them whilst driving which really helped me. Every day after you had finished for the day we would fill out a score card on each individual subject. This was so you could see your improvement throughout the week. After the full week I was confident to do my test and on the following Tuesday night I applied for the test and the following morning I got my test date of Monday!!!! This was incredibly quick and it was one of the best services I’ve used. I honestly can’t thank 5day enough! And to Phil, you were absolutely amazing, funny, kind hearted and motivating to get my driving done. You care so much about your learners and I hope you continue to do what you are doing because you are one of the best! 100% use 5Day!
Absolutely terrible service. They pretend to support you after the course if you fail but do nothing. Their customer service are patronising, rude and unhelpful. I would highly recommend not wasting your money on what feels like a scam Update: I am VERY unwell: it is Monday and I have a test on Thursday. The rude man on the phone counted out the days to me and said as I’ve only given 2 days notice (test is on Thursday and today is Monday) they won’t refund me, they could be helpful as it’s on the day but they are just rude, patronising and not very nice people with a pathetically low level of customer service. Please do not waste your money with this company. LOADS of their staff left recently as the pay and hours were terrible and the person whose car I was using for my test didn’t even let me know he was not available, I had to find out myself, weeks before a test I now can’t get refunded on AGAIN ANOTHER PATRONISING MESSAGE. I became Ill over the weekend so stating that I’ve ‘known for 5 months’ is just pointless. I have the flu, is it ok to sit with someone I close proximity in a car? It is Monday, technically that is 3 full days til Thursday. Before you took our money you claimed ‘to be there for you’ and that you will support us as much as you can. For the sake of a few hours you will not refund me so I can reschedule and book it again at a later date
Cannot thank 5day enough I got through my theory and also now have passed my driving test and couldn't be happier thankyou Greg for all your help
It was an enjoyable experience with Roy, too man. Helped me past my test first time and took me on his instructor test.
Stay away from this company they are a total rip off very crafty in the way they work staying just inside the law so to speak My son booked with these so they take all your money up front then you get a slot allocated for your driving using sub contracted instructors Don’t expect to be driving away with a licence at the end of the week my son took a weeks holiday from work to do the Monday to Friday lessons however within this week there was no allocation for his theory test and when he inquired of an actual test date they were quite evasive I could write on in some detail here how their underhanded practices work such as the instructor saying a separate mock test was needed some three weeks later which he was deemed to have failed and without a pass his instructor said he would not be applying for an actual driving test , and guess what the next date he was given for another mock was three weeks away, but if he wished to pay the instructor privately then he could achieve this sooner. This is after paying £1550 to 5 day for what is advertised as an intensive driving course. Be very cautious about going with this company as their adverts do not tell the whole story.
really helpful and had a really good week!
I am so made up I decided to go with 5 day driving, I did my course back in August with John Pearce in Bristol Centre and I can honestly say it was worth every penny! John was so kind and patient with me, and he got me to passing first time after having a 6 year gap from driving! John gave me refresher lessons for an affordable price closer to my test date so we could go over all the important things which really helped! I could not recommend 5 day any more, if you want to pass... go with 5 day and more specifically pray you get John haha! Thankyou to all the team though they were all very friendly!
UPDATE! it has now been 16 weeks since my week with 5day and I still do not have a test, please, just save your money, you are not limited to 1 test centre so will get a test quicker than I have. the test centre they use closes down in June but they won’t let you book at the next available test centre until it actually closes down so I know I won’t get a test date now until at least the end of June. The DVSA are not going to hire any new instructors at the test centre for the period of 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately it’s not a 100% positive review. There are some pro’s such as: Rafiq from the Sutton Coldfield branch is amazing, heart of gold (and his wife for letting me use her car because I preferred it) I was probably his worst student in his 10 plus years 😂 but he was patient with me and got me through it. The man doing the theory (I can’t remember his name) was really thorough and was a nice relaxed environment to be in. Just don’t get in to debates about politics and you will like him 😂 You do learn a lot during the 4 hours driving, more than you expect to. Negatives: When they say up to 75% quicker, they really do mean the word UP TO, it’s been 4 weeks today since I finished my course and payed for my test and I’m still number 25 on the waiting list. My husband urged me to go on the course as he did it a few years ago and got his test booked for 5 days later. They don’t highlight that if the instructor dosnt feel you are test ready, they won’t recommend you for your test and they won’t give you anymore lessons unless you pay for the course again, so basically you only get corrective lessons if you fail your test and you can’t take your test if the instructor does not feel you are ready. 5 day can only book tests that DVSA release to them so it’s not entirely their fault but I would recommend that they advertise waiting times for a test as a lot of people book this course so they can learn to drive and get a test quicker than the conventional route. So as it stand there is a 12 week wait for tests at Sutton Coldfield due to the closures of test sites. The only thing they do say on their site is that you don’t get a test at the end of the week, I had my theory at the end of the week but nothing about practical. Most of the cons are in their terms and conditions but most people don’t read them before booking because of how long they are or there are people who are neurodivergent so don’t have the ability to understand the fine print. So it would be beneficial that they highlight on their website on a realistic expectation or length of current waiting lists of the local test centres so people are not disappointed when they get there. Especially the point that if the instructor does not feel you are ready, you will have to pay for the course again. £1,298.00 is a lot of money to risk having to pay again. I’ve already spoken to customer services and they don’t seem to bothered about why as customers, we are upset, they just say they can’t do anything Untill DVSA release dates, which is true, they can’t, but we also did not know we could be waiting 12 weeks for a test date. Hope this helps someone to make an informed decision and gives 5 day some useful criticism to improve their service. I’ve given my reference number so 5day can not say it’s a false review. EDIT As you will see from their reply, they take things out of context and do not read thoroughly, as I said IT APPEARS they do not care, I did not say they didn’t, the man I spoke to at 5day was not too helpful on my query. As I stated, every con is in their terms and conditions but not everybody reads them, again in their response this seems to of been ignored. I did not say you HAVE to book through them but as they advertise as an intensive driving course that can get you passed fast, this is certainly not the case. I tried to remain objective in my review leaving any emotions out of it and state my experience of the company. it APPEARS 5 day do not like this and anyone who is contracted by them will tell you they are losing custom due to the issues stated above, they used to have 15-20 students at any one time, now they are lucky if they have 10. When I was there, it was only 5. Please save yourselves the money of £1,200 and go with a private instructor who will give you what you pay for. Their response speaks for themselves. I was advised I was number 25 on the waiting list for Sutton Coldfield centres but as 5day have said they do not have a waiting list and use estimates, I will be calling to make a official complaint because I know what I was told and I will record the phone call of this because I will not tolerate them telling me one thing but then another on my review of the company on a public page. This is disgusting I will update if I get a test before the 12 week mark.
