Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

Oct 12,2016I have used Alexandria as a school librarian for over 15 years. I would recommend it as a school library OPAC. The search for books could be a little more intuitive, especially for the younger students who have a hard time spelling.

Oct 12,2016Our school was using Alexandria before I arrived and I find that it is a wonderful product. We seldom have any issues and when we do, we just call the tech support for help on any issue. I have not been disappointed yet. They are courteous and respectful no matter what. I guess I love the tech support of this the best!

Oct 12,2016Easy to use. Would like more one touch. For example when I click on a patrons name I have to than press select. If I forget to press than I check the book out to the previous patron. Would also like to be able to easily add patron pictures

Oct 12,2016Alexandria makes collection management and circulation a breeze. This is one area where technology has truly improved a process, making libraries more efficient and user-friendly. As a librarian, I like the accuracy of barcodes and the ease of creating records. Human error means that information can and will be entered incorrectly at times, but correcting these with Alexandria is simple and straightforward, no advanced knowledge of cataloging is necessary to have clean, accurate records.

Oct 12,2016I use Alexandria everyday and I find it reliable and easy to use. It is a safe and easy to use program to keep track of our 12,000+ books. The reports are easy to access and modify. I would like to see some minor changes but they are very small details. The tech support has always been helpful.

Oct 12,2016I have been using Alexandria for over 10 years and have never had any real problems with the system until I upgraded last year to the on-line version. I found numerous glitches in the system. The reports were not as easy to run and many of the search features were not as efficient. At the beginning of this school our entire school district converted to the union library system. It has been a disaster. There has been numerous problems and our entire group of librarians wasted valuable time dealing with all the issues. On the plus side, I must add that tech support is always very helpful and pleasant.

We had a recent turnover in library staff and equipment. Alexandria support made that a very smooth transition for us.

Oct 12,2016We just upgraded to the all web-based software. What used to take one or two keystrokes now takes 3 to 4 screens. We still have not been able to make the customizing of reports work. Some of the "automatic" reports don't give you all the information you were once able to pull from the system. The new software will not allow me to open a second window to run circulation while I am also trying to catalog or input new students. I have to close multiple tabs and often close out of the program because you have to go into the tools page to click back into circulation. Not very time efficient when you are running a busy library and need to get things done quickly.

Oct 12,2016I have had no problems with the Alexandria software, and their customer service is excellent!! The only issue I have ever had is trying to inventory - I wish there was an easier way to do that.
