Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

Oct 12,2016I am frustrated with having to enter all 18,000 books from my library one by one. However, once we get rolling, I think it will be great. I love that the kids can look up books and see where they are on the map. I love the Bulletin feature for the teachers.

Oct 12,2016The software is not always user-friendly. Some tasks have to be done individually and it would be so much faster to be able to apply them to a group. My students would love interactive components like book reviews and easy access checkout history.

Oct 12,2016I've used Alexandria at two libraries over the course of four years. It works relatively well and the support has always been helpful when I couldn't figure something out or had a question. I had some technical challenges running Alexandria at my first school and ultimately wasn't able to figure out how to fix them, but that has been the only time I've run into trouble. I'd say 4.5/5 stars (if I could give half stars).

Oct 12,2016As a new user (having worked in a school library for years), I'm finding Alexandria very cludgy to use -- things are stored in separate silos and I'm constantly having to shift between Patron, Circulation, and Researcher -- and the functions are not well embedded/easy to find. Many icons are not defined and there's no explanatory message when you hover over it. It seems unnecessarily complicated to do simple tasks. On the other hand, when I've had problems or questions (as I did when upgrading to a new version in August), the customer service was exemplary! Swift response, thorough follow-through, etc.

Oct 12,2016We have had relatively few problems and the tech department is very helpful. But I have made some suggestions and you never hear back on what is happening. Also, I have been hearing problem about the Version 7 so am afraid to try it.
