Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

Oct 12,2016With the "upgrade" many user friendly features were changed: searcher no longer shows all the needed information on a book, so having to switch back-and-forth is tedious. When using the "T" search to look for a title from circulation, if wanting to search more the lookup feature doesn't help. The whole process has to be done again. Very tedious and time consuming.

Oct 12,2016I've had pretty good experience with this product. I am usually able to search my questions on the internet and find out how to fix my issues. If not then I call the Help Line.

Oct 12,2016I have been using Alexandria Library Automation Software for eight years and am very pleased with both the software and the tech support that I have received. I am the Librarian in a K-8 school and Alexandria is patron-friendly no matter the age of the student. Parent volunteers help with check-in and -out of Library items and they are able to navigate the system with ease as well. Reports are easy to navigate and customize for my situation, and processing books into and out of the system is quick and even enjoyable. .

Oct 12,2016The system is fantastic, well-integrated, easy to navigate through, and very functional. Support staff is AMAZING. When I encountered a problem during an upgrade, support personnel not only walked me through the problem, but calmed me down in the process. Several years ago, I encountered a problem with sounds, and was unable to change a very annoying sound. They called me back to let me know that they also couldn't change it (imagine that, a company identifying a problem and admitting an inability to fix it at that time!). They assured me that the problem would be addressed in the next upgrade, and then followed through. When they called me (a REAL PERSON spoke to me) and asked if I was able to alter the annoying sound, something I had reported over a year before the upgrade, I was amazed that they had logged that specific, and fairly minor complaint. I love dealing with this company.

Oct 12,2016Very user friendly. Many commands can be chosen via drop down menu or command key making it quick to switch between actions (ie. bookdrop, check out, etc.). Reports are sometimes tricky to navigate in order to show the exact information you are needing to pull.

Oct 12,2016Alexandria is very user friendly and the technical support is wonderful. There are many times either I can't remember how to do something and need to do something I can't figure out. Alex tech support is always helpful, will walk me through the process, and answer any questions. I have never felt like my question is ridiculous and have never waited long for a support person. The automation system itself works well for us. I like features like easily putting books on hold and changing due dates with a simple key stroke. The Tip of the Week newsletters are an added bonus too. I recommend this system for any school library.

Oct 12,2016This software is workable, if it works right. Many times we have had the server drop and it is not our internet service. It does not cross reference right. It is an okay software for the price.

Oct 12,2016Alexandria Library software is user-friendly and addresses all our needs as a middle school media center. We just recently moved to a hosted database and this has eased the workload for our technicians. The Alexandria tech support is fantastic. They walk us through any type of question, no matter how big or small.

Oct 12,2016A very straight forward system that is flexible and user friendly. Support very supportive and helpful. Only thing that is a drawback is that there is a rare system glitch that will throw something different your way. For instance, the fines and forgive fines buttons will not calculate right. It is like the system is backing up or updating and it affects the system. If you just leave what you are doing for a day, it usually works itself out without any problem.

Oct 12,2016So far my biggest complaint is being forced to buy Alexandria's spine labels for call numbers. We'd used another brand of labels forever, but with Alexandria's reports, they only come out in a certain size to match their products. And you can't even export the reports to a PDF and mail merge it into a different label format (like for Avery labels). Alexandria's labels were also expensive. I've also had trouble with call numbers not updating in the reports once I change them in the Item record. So don't mess up the first time! Most things work fine and the video tutorials are helpful, but these issues are a bit annoying to work around.

Oct 12,2016I have used Alexandria for 5 years now and find it easy to use for circulation and it also is easy to use to catalog materials and run reports. I do find the researcher portion for student use a little clunky, especially the title and subject search (or browse portion). I think that it should just have an advanced search and simple search.

Oct 12,2016Alexandria software has been very reliable. All of my data is backed up to the cloud and any issues I have had have been minor and were on my end of the tech, not Alexandria's. The staff is very knowledgeable and goes out of their way to answer my questions or do the research to get the correct answer. I love the reports section as there are reports for everything I am looking for. Staff routinely help me with creating year-end reports I seem to always be needing and giving me tips and tricks on how to run the system even more effectively/efficiently. It is very straightforward to train a sub to take over when I am out and my elementary students even know how to check-in and check-out. I have trained several HS students to help me with processing and there have been no problems. Great software and great service!

Oct 12,2016First, I have to admit, I haven't used any other library software, so I can't make a comparison. However, I feel that Alexandria enables me to do what needs to be done quickly and easily. Reports, labels, book records, circulation records and much more are simple to do. When I did run into a snag, customer service was quickly to my rescue.

Oct 12,2016Prompt and clear customer support. Product updates frequently enough to implement new features and fix glitches but not too often to be inconvenient. Database features continue to become more user-friendly.
