Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

The Support Team has been excellent! There are a few areas that I found cumbersome to get the results I wanted. The Companion Corp. team was been wonderful assisting me through the process. Ultimately I will have a few suggestions that may help make some of the processes more user friendly, if possible to be come a part of the program.

Alexandria provides all the features of a large scale program for small libraries at an affordable price! Anything we can think of to help our patrons, the service center is willing to work with us and figure out.

This software is easy to use, and the tech support is phenomenal. Many librarians complain about the software in their schools, but our district has had very few issues. Even when we switched from our previous system, it went smoothly with very few bumps. I recommend this software to any library.

I love the ease of the program. And the flexibility that I can check on the computer at home things I need to access from the Alexandria program.

Our school purchased Alexandria over 20 years ago and we have been happy with it ever since. We have combined multiple library catalogs when we built a new school and the transition was super easy. We upgraded to the hosted version and the only problem we have had is when our local access is down.

We decided to move from onsite library to Alexandria cloud version and migration was quick easy. I didn't have to do anything once the Alexandria tech started to process except sit back and wait. It was over the next day and we were up and running with no downtime since it was done at the end of the previous day. Since then, I've only had to call tech support once and even then it was "user error". I wish all of our enterprise software as a service was so easy!

Love the program. Have used it for many years. We are looking forward to the merge of the Textbook Tracker/ Alex. Library programs. We use both.

Our school has used Alexandria for years and have had a most excellent experience. However, we recently went to their Union system to connect our 15 individual sites and it was a very frustrating experience. In hindsight I believe our tech department could have done a much better job of collaborating with Alexandria in preparing the libraries and the librarians. From the beginning there should have been the end users involved in some fashion. Communication was and is great with their tech support people one on one, but the larger system had to be addressed by the "management" level people at our school district sites and Alex's site. Once that happened, things were worked out in a much better and more productive way. I can't emphasis enough how important it is to have the ground work laid with data clean up. The one area that I would give Alex a 5 star rating is in their response to the end user and trying to help us navigate a very frustrating beginning.

Alexandria makes library life easier for sure but it is also frustrating for a couple of reasons. First, I am an advocate of change if it's going to make things better. Since we have switched over to web based Alex, I have found it more cumbersome to use and not just because it's new and I'm still learning the new changes. Mostly it's because there are extra steps now that make things take more time. For example... *I loved the shortcuts that now no longer work. *Getting the picture of our new books into the database now takes more steps than before *Downloading a report now takes more steps than before *Importing Marc records was awesome when we could just click the file and drag it right into imports. Now that's extra steps too. Secondly, I feel that I am a better than average computer user mostly because my husband is a computer whiz and teaches me things here and there. I don't always feel that Alexandria is user friendly. I find myself spending lots of time trying to figure out how to do something. With my library hours being so short and then the time actually spent on clerical duties being very minimal, I don't have the time to spend searching how to make simple things work. However, I do like how the new web interface looks. I like that on the main screen there are tabs to the left side to access everything we need. I do like the weekly tip emails. And I also like the customer support.

I have been using Alexandria for 4 years. Mid year 3 I upgraded to the online only version (7). Since then I spend more time then ever cataloging, adding patrons, trying to keep the system in shape. The system is not quick or easy to use. I have made suggestions which seem easy to put in place and the technical services/support teams supports have gone downhill. They often do not know how to do things in 7 as well. Disappointed in the product at this time.

I switched from Follett to Alexandria about 7 years ago. I have been very happy. Customer support and tech support are both excellent. The updates are helpful and frequent. Reports, labels all library needs are well met. I would recommend Alexandria for your library software

I have only had Alexandria for a few months, but I love it. Previously I used ResourceMate3.0, which was outdated and difficult to use. Alexandria is quite different! Everything is easy and user friendly. I do wish that They had the option of putting the reading level of a book in the file though. I'm excited to use this software for years to come in my school library.

I chose to switch to using Alexandria Library about 5 years ago and have always been happy with the program. Technical support is great, the program works without glitches, and it was easy to set up and use. I love having student pictures in the checkout screen so I know I am checking out books to the right student. I also enter Accelerated Reader ZPD ranges as students' nicknames, so I always know if students are checking out books in their reading levels. Reports are easy to customize to your needs. All in all, a great program for library automation.

I am loving the function and I believe it only gets better as the Alexandria upgrades and improves function. I think the support is great. I love being able to reach out and have someone talk me through anytime I find myself at a lost for a solution. I enjoy the email tips of the month even if I already know how to do whatever the tip is. It is always great to be able to review and refresh ones understanding.

I like most of Alexandria. I do wish that using just the search bar, and not having to choose other terms, a simple search (for example "apples") would not include a multitude of books that have nothing to do with the topic.

Alexandria is an excellent automation system. It is very user friendly and addresses all the needs of the librarians and the patrons that utilize the system. Alexandria allow librarians catalog books using 21st century standards and expectations.

This software is amazing. Love the hosted data. They have THE BEST tech answer line I have ever experienced. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they always have an answer. Thank you for making my life easier. I use Alexandria for a 22 campus school in California.

Key to good software is not only the software itself but also the support that comes with it. Very happy with both for Alexandria Library.
