The only thing this company ever did wrong was giving people a second chance who didn't deserve it. Read the terms and conditions, and pay back what you owe. Its that simple. However, its not that simple as it looks like most people who take a loan out with Amigo cannot read, but rather are allowed to lie and deceive the application form, to then be allowed to claim compensation for taking a loan out and not wanting to pay it back. Who is the real parasite? Well it isn't the company. I used Amigo loans and they helped me when I needed the money. I paid it back with interest, as in the conditions stipulated. Just like with any other bank or authority. I hope the people who dragged this company into the ground lose their jobs during this recession. Because they won't have a friend called Amigo to turn to, and they are going to need one. Hopefully Amigo will pull through this and not become another statistic to the compensation culture prevalent in the UK society. They helped me when I needed them and now I am in a financially strong place. We all fall from grace at some point.
Well after reading all these reviews I thought I’d join in as feel something needs to be done about these ‘cowboys’ I’ve spent the last week on the phone to Amigo and find them an absolute appalling company who are a disgrace to loan companies. Lie after lie about ringing you back and everything will be fine. Even the voice message is a complete lie....’your call is very much important to us’ 🤣🤣🤣 My concern is that they keep saying they are awaiting information from the transaction dept but can only do it via email as they are a non telephone dept, I feel sorry for these people. I actually don’t think they have a transaction dept!!! It sounds as though we’re not destined to receive this money which is why I’ve sent my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman If my money is not in my bank on Monday morning then I will not be paying the redress figure.
If you ask a question that they don't have an answer for they hang up on you. Waited nearly an hour to get through on the phone only to be hung up on. Accepted redress on the 19th June. Still waiting. Any time I call I get told a different time frame. Have now been told that it will definitely be the 31st July between 4pm and 8pm. I asked if that's a guarantee. The response was "well no it could take longer" total mess. If you miss a payment they will hound you. I've even had messages a week before a payment is due telling me to make sure I have the money in the bank. If only they where this efficient when paying out what they owe
After being told to wait 5 days, 10 days and 15days to then be told the refund would be in the gurantors account between 4pm and 12pm last night , yet again 30days later ansolutely nothing. Can someone tell me where our refund is? Your with holding money that isn't rightfully yours and leaving people out of pocket. I think its a bit ridiculous how you can't reply to emails or call back when you promise to call back with an update. 37 days later and still nothing but im seeing people are only waiting 4 days? Explain this because ive had to harrass you 4 5 times a day and yet still nothing but if i wanted a 1000pound loan you would pay out within the hour
Really bad experience, during covid. When people lost their jobs. They marked me down as missed payment and chargers my guarantor. I have only been late for two payments during Covid - 19 pandemic.
why do we have to wait 15 days for redress. accepted monday and simple bank transfer can take 24/48 hours. i know as i work in a simliar evironment were we can action a simple bacs transfer . would very much help right now were i havent got any money to my name and struggling due to this pandemic.
I had a a loan with Amigo, never missed a payment or owed them but have needed some help a few times moving payment dates around. The services has usually been friendly and quite quick however their checks were lacking. They were also friendly and helpful. I have since raised a complaint,waited 17 weeks for them to redress in my favour then had to wait 15 days for confirmation of redress, which given the state of the situation I can understand but now I have to wait another 10 - 15 working days for payment which I find unfair. They admitted error and owe me redress but to wait this long is very unreasonable. I have asked for this to be paid by friday which is 7 working days. If not my rating will continue to drop. Updated - Redress received 15/07/20 and Guarantor refund recieved 16/07/20. Don't lose hope people.
Why do I have to wait 14 days to receive my funds after accepting my redress? Clearly you should pay people refunds quickly once they accept and jump other complaints to clear backlogs? My case is 25 weeks now and I'm getting fed up with this
Too much messing about for me. You get a guarantor eventually and they pay your loan into their account instead of yours. I think this totally wrong in my opinion and will never apply again.
AMIGO LOANS ARE ABSOLUTELY APPEALING!!! I applied for amigo LOANS up to 1000 I'm on universal credit struggling as it is!! And I didn' realise I'd get accepted as was told I wouldn't so by time I'd gone and ring them about it they wouldn't take the money back!!! This was over a year ago!! I haven't paid them since last year!! As cannot pay!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Still waiting for these figures! It’s nearly two weeks over the promised date now and nobody knows nothing. I’m getting sick to death of ringing them and repeating myself. Luckily I work for the NHS so have spoken with FOS this morning who have fast tracked my complaint with them and is taking over but it’s not good enough. They don’t care atall. They would be fighting like mad if we owed them money!!!!
I am now nearly at 7 weeks since opening a complaint with Amigo, which I know is no time in relation to other peoples Complaints. However, I had an email last Friday stating that my complaint was still sat in a Queue waiting to be looked at and as they had so many complaints they wouldn't resolve my complaint in 8 weeks and they couldn't tell me when they would either. As I have this in writing I have opened a case with the FOS today. Disgraceful behavior from these 'Legal Loan Sharks' and I will not be surprised if they are out of business by the end of the year. EDIT: - In reply to their below response. Thanks very much for that Generic Response!! Perhaps you should have focused on looking after your customers rather than make a quick buck out of them!!
So, following my review on Friday and their response below advising payment today , no payment. Called them again told oh you were given wrong information, you have to wait another working 14 days , delaying tactics all the way. I have referred all their correspondence to Financial ombudsman this morning , just don’t believe a word that they say. The only script staff appear to agree on is another 14 days !
So basically because I won’t adhere to your bully boy tactics your have pro longed dealing with my complaint for a number of reasons let’s see how long you delay the fos had a very interesting phone call today I will look forward to your responses to there investigation
Accepted redress over 20 working days ago and still not received my money, in my bank. No guarantor involved and the loans was paid in full over a year ago. The call handlers tell lies or fob you off when you the you the you ask for an update and promise you call you back. I have established a time line of speaking to different people at amigo and all excuses given. No business moral or ethics at all.
I am absolutely disgusted to find that people are not receiving redress payments in order of acceptance. How is this fair. There is yet again another person getting their redress in less than a week. I have already waited longer than this. People are struggling with current circumstances. I want my redress in my bank account within the next 48 hours. This is my money I am due. Im so annoyed. I will be referring this to FOS, as if you state further down the thread payments are made manually this is unfair practices giving some people preference over others with their redress timescales because they ring/email and put a bit of pressure on. This should NOT be happening. It should be a fair, date ordered process. My Original complaint was regarding an unaffordable lending. Took 4 months but offered my redress payment finally, 5 days past timescales set by amigo themselves. Was told this Payment would take 15 days to reach me. Here’s hoping they refund me in a timely manner. I’m not holding my breath after reading other reviews. Strange how some people get theirs in 4 days and some still waiting weeks later. If the payment was the other way it would be expected on time.
I have loan £5000 from last june and it show i still have to pay £4500 mean in one year i paid £500 and monthly £214 im struggling to pay . what can i do i cant pay anymore?

Absolutely appalling waited since December 19 to get a final response and finally upheld 3 weeks ago the final response had no loan breakdown no redress calculations was told I would receive them shortly! Then told a week later I would have them within 10 working days now nearly 3 weeks later still no calculations and was informed over the phone as I went through financial ombudsman they have no idea when I will receive my redress figures!!!! How this company is getting away with what they are doing is beyond me! I have contacted fca so they are aware of what amigo are doing!
