Out of 7 lenders we chose Better I'm meticulous about my own finances and wanted to make sure we went with a lender who would be easy to work with and help us make the best decision financially. I found both at Better. Our loan officer was easy to work with and was very responsive to our needs and questions. We worked with them for a year since our new build kept being pushed back and I'm so glad we went with them. Their policies are much more flexible than any other lender I could have found locally. We are saving tons of money by closing a loan with them. The only potential issue going with an out-of-state lender is maybe not having as close of hand-holding through the whole process. However their portal is easy to use and as long as you get what they need quickly it's a very straightforward process. One item Better could improve at is coordination between the client, loan officers, and underwriters. There were a few times where we'd tell one person one thing, but the actual change had to happen through another person and it didn't get done correctly. However these were fixed by the end and were just a minor inconvenience. I'd recommend Better to anyone.

This was my third transaction with Better and they simply keep getting better and better. The online plataform is great and simple to use. The communication with team is seamless. If you are savvy with electronic communications you will love working with better.

This is our second time refinancing with better.com. While this was an online experience, human intervention is what sets you apart because of the nature of your business. Your people are still your biggest and best asset. Austin Thomas made this a great experience; he was amazing to work with because he was always responsive and responsible! We truly appreciated his professionalism as he made the process so easy.

Overall I had a good experience. Better offers good customer service and very competitive rates and fees. The remote closing took more time than I was expecting due to paperwork needing to be shipped around the country but I didn't have specific deadlines, so it was fine.

We recently closed on our home and were so impressed with our experience using Better.com. The online portal was easy to navigate and well organized. It made it as easy as possible to provide all necessary documents and understand where we were in the process. Christian, our account representative was so pleasant and easy to do business with. He was always available when we had questions and proactive in ensuring we moved through the process in a seamless way. We will recommend Better and Christian to others.

Fantastic platform and user portal that helped greatly with any and all questions I had regarding the loan application, approval, and general lending agreements. Great communication from every representative I spoke with. I had enough information to make informed decisions about my loan application, it's options, and understand all of the potential implications.

Amazing job by the Better Mortgage team, especially Danny Blue and Michael Rhodes! Our builder was pretty noncooperative and pushed us into a big-time crunch by giving us a final closing date very late (just 6 days). In just 6 days, the Better team heard us out, got the final approval done, gave the initial closing disclosure and everything else. Danny was especially helpful and has a very calm voice and heard us out. We will in a bad situation if it wasn't for Better team.

Only think is i would have liked to have someone who could help me on weekends and after hours. When i tried to get help, we ended up needing to schedule a time to chat with brian during business hours. I would be nice if someone was around on the weekends to help. Just a minor note really since who wants to work weekends right?

Very nice refinance. Kacie Cavanaugh was completely on top of everything throughout the whole process. Love that you stay with the same person through the entire closing. Would totally recommend to anyone wanting a simple refinance who is willing to do it mostly online.

TL;DR: Better's loan service terms are very favorable to them and other lenders, but not ordinary people. Better misrepresents loan terms when pressed for details. Better is predatory, taking advantage of people's instinct to trust and ignorance of loan terms. Better rushes people to sign a loan agreement when individuals do not fully understand what they are agreeing to. Full Review: My family and I recently had a rather negative experience with them. The better agent I worked was great about making themselves available during the early part of the process, when there is not much to ask about. However, as we neared closing and needed to review documents, they were hard to get ahold of and were generally unknowledgeable about the terms of the contract. The agent I worked with frequently could not answer questions about the *124 page contract* we were expected to sign (and sent the day of the originally scheduled closing date). At one point, they indicated that since they were going to sell the loan, the original contract did not matter. This is not true. We found that if we had issues with any aspect of the contract, that simply meant we could not sign. There was zero opportunity to negotiate any aspect of the contract, regardless of how small. One of the terms indicated that if we were one day late of making a full payment, we could go into default - meaning the loan servicer could demand we pay the full loan amount at once (an impossible task for most people seeking a loan). So, if for some reason, there was a bank glitch, if I was unexpectedly in the hospital, or if I made a mistake and underpaid by $10, we could lose our home. There was no grace given in the contract. Better indicated over the phone it would take two fully missed payment to trigger that, but when pressed to put that interpretation into writing, they conceded that the original interpretation - one day late of any amount could trigger a default - was correct. There were additional loan terms that were likewise very risky to agree to. For example, 'any action' a borrower might be subject to that "in the judgement of the lender"puts the property at risk, you can be put in default. This language gives so much latitude to the lender to simply take your home and very little to the borrower. And they also wanted us to release our taxes so it could be shared and marketed. According to the better agents (who had already demonstrated themselves to be untrustworthy), I could opt out later, but that did not change that I would have to sign a contract agreeing to these terms. The better agents were like oil and silk on the phone, kindly trying to persuade me to do things I was not comfortable with, bending the truth, misrepresenting the facts and/or pleading ignorance of both the terms of the contract and U.S. law in order to get me to sign. Zero out of the 5 stars, would never recommend.

Throughout the underwriting process, I was asked by Better to adhere to the Final Order of Divorce. The day before closing, I saw that a quitclaim deed had been prepared, rather than a special warranty deed as required by the court order. Perhaps because it was inconvenient, my request was ignored and later questioned. Unfortunately, I had to rescind the mortgage in order to get what I needed. Things came to a screeching halt. Significant expense was incurred. This difficulty could have been avoided.
