Feb 12,2024Getting the certificate is easy, but what they fail to tell you at the beginning is the 7-25% ownership fee needed to own the bike at the end of the agreement. They are clear that this is a hire agreement, but in the past when I've used similar schemes there has never been an ownership fee. Make sure you take that into account when signing up. I understand the HMRC rules (search for Gov UK HMRC EIM21667A) and the ownership fee could be lower if CycleScheme used a longer window. It feels a bit unfair and not something I knew when signing up. Be careful!

They have assisted me throughout and at every touch point, making the process very easy. They have replied with email confirmations, and advice when required and had my items with me exactly when they said they would be. I was surprised to learn that retailers do not get the full amount and in fact take a significant loss on the overall profit to accommodate this scheme . i won't be surprised if the scheme fails in the near future as i don't understand how a retailer can survive with the % Cycle Scheme and all the others actually take from the retailers. shame and i hope im wrong . On a personal level it was a very easy process and im thrilled with my new purchase

After months of discussion I had to buy a cheaper bike simply because I was £10 short on the cost of delivery. I am happy with the bike, but the process reminded me of my mother in laws stories about life in the Soviet Union
