Mar 29,2024I signed up for the cyclescheme but I did not redeem the certificate. I was planning to use the cyclescheme to pay monthly rental charges for an electric bike. However, I did not redeem the certificate because I was unhappy with the bike company's customer service and the quality of their bicycles. I decided not to proceed with the hire scheme. However, deductions are already being made from my salary. So far, I have been charged £140.00 directly from my salary despite the fact that I have not used the cyclescheme certificate and have received no goods. Deductions should only be made from salaries once the certificate is redeemed. Under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, charges cannot be made for goods that have not been received. EDIT: the response says: "We requested more information from you in order to look into this further, but sadly you haven't replied." This is simply untrue. I have received no requests for further information. I am in constant contact with your team (BHN Client Services) since late March and I am being stonewalled. I am no closer to this issue being resolved. You say that my employer is entitled to "recoup" funds from my salary. In fact it is my employer who has written you asking to cancel this certificate which has not been redeemed. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. I advise everyone to stay away from this company.

The main challenge is that by the time the certificates come through the price that you were quoted often changes, and you're not aloud to 'top up' the difference. I had to get an item that I didn't really want in order to satisfy the requirements. EDIT in response to Cyclescheme's response: Thank you for your polite response. I'm sure that there's reasons for it, but ideally the ability to top up would be reinstated. Failing that then flagging the 'window' risk or encouraging suppliers to honour quotes for longer (even at a surcharge) would be helpful. Thanks.
