Tax is complicated; the cycle to work scheme is not. You choose a bike, hire it for an agreed length of time, then snap it up for a fraction of its original value. It's like a year-round sale, with interest free credit available in over 2,000 retailers nationwide.
Great scheme to use but disappointed it took about 5 weeks from applying til I got the bike.
Absolutely brilliant scheme had no problemsthis is the second bike I've purchased through this scheme and it really is a fantastic scheme
It was a brilliant and quick service. Took about three weeks from application to collecting my bike. I had. £2000 limit and was able to get a full suspension bike.
Brilliant in terms of working through the process - got confirmation in about 2 hours. 5 stars Hideous in waiting for bike to arrive - ordered 24 days ago and don't expect to see it for at least another 7 days. I expected some delay but thought that the bike would arrive before my beard reached my knees. 1 star
Whilst I understand there will be delays with the current Covid-19 situation, i made an application on 15.04.2020 and my work approved everything from their end by 24.04.2020 and apparently voucher issued on 30.04.2020. Not received anything so chased this up with the organisers on 13.05.2020 and apparently the hold up was on their end and once prompted they have “released” the voucher. I am disappointed with the hold up, it took so long i bought a 2nd hand bike as a stand in and the bike i wish to purchase is now gone so i am having to look at other options. 15.05.2020 - they had gotten in touch with me and shortly after i was able to receive my voucher pretty much in no time. Enough time for me to retrieve my bike today. The person who responded was really good and helpful (which is more than i can say for the person who dealt with me via email the day before) this which warranted with a rating bump up to 3 stars (from 1), the hold up of vouchers was clearly from their end. I hate complaining and rarely see the point but judging by my experience with this company i would safely that i would be still waiting for my bike if i didnt post up my negative review. On a more positive note, i have my 2nd hand bike replacement to my dad and we are having a father and son cycle from Lisburn to Belfast tomorrow :)
This is my second bike from cycle scheme it was easy application Todo on line .. I had my bike in 1 month
Had a great experience regards to applying for the scheme and actually getting the bike but I’ve had no information regards to how much, how long and how I’m actually saving any money.
The scheme is really good but it meant buying my bike from Halfords which has caused me nothing but issues. Also avoid getting extras as they might be out of stock when the certificate arrives and the value of the certificate can't be adjusted once issued.
I'm really thrilled with the cycle2work scheme. The only critism would be not receiving the email with my certificate for a week after my employer advised me it had all gone through.
Good service..
Misleading. I have just come to the end of my cyclescheme year. I like many below was 5 stars all the way at the outset, with my perceived savings galore - but on completing the year have been hit with the "small fee" to own the equipment in 4 years (in my case £70) or £250 to own it now (retail price the day I bought it). Surely I hear you say the hire agreement would point out any standard fee clearly in the key information - nope, in fact they included the £70 they intended to charge me to keep the bike I’ve just finished paying for under my estimated savings!!! Whats worse, the website shows you bargain basement prices as "what ownership options look like" but it fails to inform you that figures shown aren't set fees, but representative figures on a cheap bike. Misleading for sure!! I did manage to make a saving on the bike, but technically its not mine for another 4 years. Would I use the scheme again - absolutely not. Wait for your local bike retailer to have an event or sale, cut out the middle man and get the best deal at 0% interest and buy (and own) the bike outright!
All the information is in the site, but had a few queries and contacted support team over the phone a couple of times and they where very helpful and friendly. The process went smoothly.
Excellent process start to finish Quick getting started and kept up to speed when I was after a few questions via email. Service from the shop where I got my bike was outstanding 👍🏻
Just a brilliant scheme to keep you on the roads with upgrades to components and accessories.
Very good scheme if you are looking for a new ride, very helpfull in aiding you with any queries you got regarding the process involved with getting a new bike, would definitely do it again. The money saving is a great incentive too.
Really easy to use, excellent and quick service. Thanks!
Thank you. The whole process was really easy to use and provided a great service - easy to following with the log in and progress update. It was also quite simple for the finance team, which has its advantages and really quick for the bike shop. If only I was using my beautiful folding bike now for commuting!! Unfortunately stuck at home in lockdown.
This is incredible value for money. The fact that the cost of the bike had to be the exact value of the voucher costed the fifth star. We got there in the end though, so all good!
Applied 1 day and the voucher was with me within 4 hours on the same day. Simple and easy process. Excellent. Many thanks.

May 20,2020Unfortunately I wasn't able to take advantage of the scheme as the bikes I had my eye on were sold out due to C19 forcing people off public transport and on to bikes, so I had to cancel 2 certificates. However, I would have been okay if Whoosh e-bikes had accepted Cyclescheme vouchers as they had great e-bikes at reasonable prices. Whoosh said they don't accept Cyclescheme vouchers "because their commission rates are quite high (15%) and they do not allow us to pass this on to the customer, unlike other agencies." Halfords also had bikes at the time, cheaper than Cyclescheme retailers, but they don't accept Cyclescheme vouchers either. So no bike for me at the moment until I save up to buy a Whoosh bike myself (when they are back in stock!)
