Tax is complicated; the cycle to work scheme is not. You choose a bike, hire it for an agreed length of time, then snap it up for a fraction of its original value. It's like a year-round sale, with interest free credit available in over 2,000 retailers nationwide.
Applied for my voucher and received it within a couple of hours. Now happily cycling on my lovely new e-bike!
Simple and straightforward. Would recommend.
Had a major issue with my order, due to the retailer closing down after placing my order and redeeming my certificate. Cyclescheme were extremely helpful in getting it sorted for me.
It was a bit confusing to start but that was down to my employer not cyclescheme. In all though from choosing a bike to collecting it was easy and stress free. Pedal Power, the shop where I got my bike from in Loughborough was brilliant and so helpful. All in all excellent al round.
Good service
The process is too slow and long winded. Under furlough (I'm guessing it's the reason) large sized bike were being sold at fast rate so it was hard to keep up the pace, especially if you had nominated a retailer and then needed to change any detail. Why give the option to nominate? Why not just have the value of the voucher? This would save having to cancel and go through the process again. Some retailer's would not let you add to the voucher or if your voucher was for more than the cost of the bike you would end up buying stuff you may not want.
Very poor. The online application was quite easy and a certificate arrived quite quickly. So far so good. However, after driving over 20 miles to pick up my bike The certificate wasn’t recognised. The shop phoned CTWS to be told the certificate had been cancelled. It was issued in error. I’m fuming!
Seems a good scheme, Only small gripe was some communication issues once my work had approved my application. No emails & couldn’t reset passwords due to their system not corresponding with Microsoft! After a few weeks & a few phone calls to the wrong schemes got my bike! Edinburgh Cycles were fantastic.
Communication extremely poor, despite informing Cycle scheme immediately as requested by email if I'd received my bicycle " No I hadn't" the very same day, they still proceeded to pay the retailer anyway! As a consequence after over 10 days I have no bicycle and Cycle scheme don't respond to my emails....I would not recommend them and will be asking my firm to hold them accountable for their incompetence if I do not receive my bicycle.
Very straight forward to use. The only lost mark is some confusion whether you need to use the whole value of the voucher or can only use part of it.
For me - with my employer and bike shop I had no problems. The small bike shop I used would have charged 10% extra if it was the scheme that belongs to Halfords - as they said they get charged extra. I also had a message that said it would take me below minimum wage (in my case clearly not true) - and I just ignored it and it went through v quick. Select the bike you want and ask bike shop to reserve it for you and then apply for the voucher.
I applied for cycle scheme certificate and the saving calculator calculated 35% savings. On approaching the cycle store, I discovered that I have to bear 10% commission cost to cycle scheme on top of the cycle sale price. This 10% commission is never calculated in saving calculator. I have 2 options, 1. Buy a bike and pay 10% commission to cycle scheme and further 7% to buy back. 2. Buy an overinflated full price bike to allow inbuilt cycle scheme commission. Overall, seems to be a scam and you actually pay commission to middleman. Contacting the scheme support, they told me to contact alternative stores. Be careful. Cut the middleman out.
Went on work internet on cyclescheme waited 2 weeks eagerly then after 5 emails to my employers they said they not dealing with cyclescheme and to go to vivup. After finding the site figured what i have to do applied to be told, as a band 2 nhs on £19337 a year the e bike i wanted £1500 i was denied as it would take me under min wage ? Dissapointed to say the least, i have no idea if i can get a bike,so it seems to me that the scheme isnt open to all workers especially band 2 worker only higher paid people, which to me seems to defeat the purpose as if i earned more i wouldnt need to use the scheme id just buy one. Maybe you can get the cheapest bike i have no idea as all i know is go on vivup, they emailed to say maybe you can get sumat else ?? Dont think i can ride a toaster to work
Lots of bike retailers to choose from via this scheme. I went chose a online retailer (Tredz) and the bike was delivered efficiently. Definitely worth going for an online retailer as the choice is so extensive you can really make sure you get the right bike. Tour de France here I come.
Started to put weight on since stopping smoking and 50yrs of age, Government don't want us to put strain on NHS and promised new investments to encourage us to go green, applied I think 4 times but never received any response so emailed support but still never received a response so diesel it is
Not to be confused with cycle2work who work with Halfords. Cyclesheme does not work with Halfords but they do work with a partner company of Halfords where you can get your bike for 20% more expensive than you would at Halfords. As soon as I realised this I cancelled my hire agreement straight away. Bad experience, sorry.
Such a super scheme, so pleased I joined.
The most difficult part for a novice cyclist is selecting the bicycle you want. Once you have settled on this Cyclescheme is a really good and cost effective way to get mobile.
Extremely easy to sort out and efficient in time with sending the voucher. Would recommend for sure.
