A real nightmare. I ventured to use this platform as an escrow service for a domain sale deal that took place elsewhere and if only I could go back in time... The sum of the sale was not that great (in the three figures) but the very negative experience was memorable and caused me levels of stress and frustration that I have never had before. First of all, like so many others, I had to wait almost an eternity to regain possession of my funds ... I felt that practically those funds were no longer mine since I was not in control and could not withdraw them. On this side I feel almost lucky because there is a whole community of domainers and other people still waiting in the hope, full of frustration, anger, and disappointment, that they can withdraw the money from the platform. They deserve my total compassion ... they don't deserve this. It goes from bad to worse: when after an exhausting time almost as if by a miracle I see that my request has gone through, I find myself with a much smaller sum withdrawn than what I should have received before the very long maintenance. Yes, by passing it off as 'maintenance' they had the 'cunning' to increase taxes in the withdrawals of the money, therefore all those who had money in masterbucks well before the maintenance took place, were forced to comply to the new terms of service of the after maintenance. And they did this without notifying anyone or asking for permission to accept the new terms. I confess that personally I have never seen such a thing. The worrying thing is that there is someone who claims that after several complaints he was able to get the taxes for the withdrawal of the money refunded because according to him, even according to someone in the epik team or who occupies a relevant position, they could not motivate the increase in taxes without permission or notice. If this turns out to be true, and I don't see why he should come up with it, it would mean that not all Epik customers are treated the same. The more I go on, the more it all seems like a nightmare from which you can't wake up. Epik's chat service is also a very negative point as there hardly seems to be a difference between talking to a robot or talking to one of their operators. The responses pretty much all seem standardized, meaning they seem to give the same response to all of their clients which only increases frustration, anger, and stress levels. You feel fooled and like you are banging your head against a wall. Needless to say that when I have the opportunity, I will transfer all my domains to a more serious and professional service. I don't want to go into too much detail about all the problems I've had, mostly psychological, as a consequence of this horror. My advice is to rely on another registrar to manage your domains (there are so many of them), and to rely on another service to perform escrow (here too there are many). Last word goes again to all those who have been waiting for months to be able to withdraw money from the platform. Stay away from epik.
Since September 19th I sold a domain of $475 on epik, I haven't been paid. I have done countless verifications and still haven't been paid. People should be wary of such deals with epik. If you want to sell a site or domain please use Dan or Afternic and save yourself
The tech support is very good, the people are super friendly and helpful. Rob helped me to even troubleshoot some issues I had with Outlook, so I'm happy!
Key takeaway: After 36 days, and paying $170 in name of fee, I'm still waiting for funds to hit my bank. On 14th of September, I've sold my website through epik. On 20th of September the deal was closed. They happily and easily accepted payment from my buyer. But when it comes to paying the sellers, they'll try their best to hold people's hard earned money. After 20th of September, their payment website masterbucks goes offline for so called maintainance, their customer care representatives had no clue on when masterbucks will be live again. After weeks of constant messages from customer they finally came up with the date of relaunch. Since 11th of October, it was again working and i submitted request for withdrawal. Today is 25th of October, 35 days and I'm still waiting for my funds. The customer care representatives are acting like masterbucks is entirely different company and they don't have access to their data. There is mysterious queue of payments no one know about. After weeks of maintenence, they're still processing payments manually. I have been constantly in touch with Live Support but they aren’t resourceful at all and they know nothing when we ask them about our queries. Live Support robotic replies are “Well, accounting team knows it and we can’t help you in this regard. We apologize, we don't have ETA on this, We don't have information about this” and so on. I feel helpless in the regard as huge amount isn’t being released and global recession is hitting us badly and we are in this vicious cycle of not being able to withdraw our hard earn bucks.
Epik still hasn’t released my 15281.25k USD. They keep making excuses to not pay.
Hello Trustpilot, I sold website using Epik escrow. It's been months now, But I still can't withdraw my money. They are saying they have legendary customer support. But it's useless. They are just like chatbots. They can't do anything. They even don't have a good process for escrow service. I had to reach their manager three times for confirm the complete transaction. Now they have some stupid platform called Masterbucks. It's sucks. If they have money why they can't withdraw it at the right time? They are saying I need to stay on the waitlist. For what? Withdraw my money? I'm never going to use this platform again. Escrow.com is great. But they have only one withdrawal option. That's why I moved to Epik. But they lose my trust now. Thanks
I am a domain seller which sold some domains on epik last year. I do not request payout so the money stay in epik. But last month epik suddenly forbidden any payout request with no reasonable explanation for more than a month. After that, epik ask for kyc to request payout and increase the fee of withdraw. Epik use the third party veriff to provide kyc service. There not a few people can not pass the kyc since veriff do not support their ID card, which include the Chinese ID card. Epik do not give any solution for these people to pass kyc for more than 10 days until now. And hence they can not withdraw their money. Fortunately, I have apply a passport 10 years ago. I spent half a day go to my old house which more than 100 kilometers from where I live now to take my passport to pass the kyc. And then I find that they apply a horrible fee of 3.9% for paypal payout. This fee is different from the commission fee for domain transaction and the fee charge by payment method. If you use sedo, dan, afternic to sell a domain, there is no other fee after domain transaction fee. You request $100 payout, you get $100 in your paypal. They use paypal masspayout so paypal will not charge you any fee. But epik first charge 3.9% for request withdraw, then they use standard paypal transfer soI was charge $0.3 + 4.4% again. I withdraw $230.4 and only get $221.41 in my paypal. The total fee of paypal payout is $0.3+ 8.3% on epik. So the total fee of sell a domain on epik is more than 18.3% now, and may change at anytime, even after you sold a domain. So you are not able to know how much you can get if you sell a domain on epik because they will change the fee any time without notification. You are also not able to know when you can get your money from epik because they can frobidden withdraw for more than one month without notification and explanation.
Oct 26th Update: PAYMENT RECEIVED ------------------------------------------------------- After so much struggle, at last, Rob Monster, founder of Epik helped in getting this issue resolved. Thank you Rob for this but still, this long delay is not at all acceptable. Epik used to be a good platform but after this, it lost its name. ------------------------------------------------------- I bought a website from a seller and we both used epik.com as the escrow service provider and the deal was completed on Sep 15th 2022. After that, the seller submitted funds withdrawal request and till now he have not received the funds. I and my seller, we both tried checking with their support and they are telling us to keep waiting without giving us the date when they will process the payment to my seller. My seller is really worrying and it is affecting his other works. Even I'm not able to work at peace. This is such a worst company.
Never ever use this company, totally kind of scam, work is too slow, and still don't release our funds, they are using the money of their new customers. I am waiting for money but still 2 months passed! Very very company!
Around seven weeks ago, a company I'm invested in used Epik Holdings as an escrow agent for a transaction of several hundreds of thousands of dollars. After reviewing the correspondence between Rob Monster (Founder) and Brian Royce (CEO) with the company there is very good reason to be very concerned. This is one of the most worrisome financial transactions I've seen handled by an escrow agent and also the consistent promises and assurance given that ended up not resulting in the money being transferred during this time. The buyer showed proof funds were transferred and Epik's site said it would be released, but Epik would not release the money. Once a review was posted, people reached out that they were in similar situations up to $250,000 as well so it looks like this could be a bigger issue. Rob did stay in communication throughout this time. On October 19th, almost 50 days after the transaction took place the money was released. It looks as if the others are beginning to be paid back as well.
My name is John Rampton (Google my name and you’ll find I’m legit and a real buyer/seller) and on September 2nd I completed an escrow transaction via Epik and have yet to receive this money. The escrow transaction was for $400,000. I’d done business with Epik and Rob Monster in the past (purchasing a domain from them around 4 years ago). Therefore, I texted Rob Monster, the Founder of Epik. He told me that Brian Boyce had taken over in the CEO role and to contact him. I began to text them both directly in separate texts. They said it was the bank’s (Metropolitan Commercial Bank) fault for freezing an account and several other excuses. However, when we asked them to give permission for the bank to verify this information they were unresponsive to that request to support their claims. Brian actually texted that he had heard from the banker that there was less than 200K in the account (There is proof that 400K was sent to them). In addition, texting them separately had consistent conflicting information about the truth of the situation. We are currently gathering evidence of the misuse of our escrow funds. In summary, this is an escrow company that was transferred escrow money on September 2nd and as of the time of writing this review (October 14th) we had not received this large sum of money that was supposed to be held by a trusted escrow provider. After 50+ days and 100s of texts with Epik founder and Epik CEO we received a wire on Oct. 18th. Please proceed with caution when conducting any similar business transaction with these people, Epik, Masterbucks, or any related company conducting escrow transactions.
Great experience from Ana! She was very courteous, responsive and timely in responding to my issues. Thanks Epik.
I sold my website through Epik exactly one month ago in September, and I've still not received my funds. Epik staff and customer care representatives have no clue when will their payment website master bucks are going to be live again. Masterbucks.com is supposed to be going live on October 10th, it's 11th and this website is still under maintenance. Their founder and CEO are not replying to tweets, there is no public announcement of the new date. This is my first and last worst experience on this website. I'll definitely avoid using their platform in the future.
Why is Master bucks down even after 10th of October is passed? Customer support ain't helping either.
October 10th is passed and Masterbucks remains inactive. Epik has stopped responding to my mails. I’m constantly receiving threats from the guy I sold my site to because he did not get paid.
Tonight I was trying to transfer 3 domains from my Epik account to Google Domains. These domains are eligible from transferring but, Epik has blocked me from transferring them, removed my option to unlock the domains, even though they were unlock by me last month. I contacted them through chat and they said they could not help me or do anything. They would escalate it to management for review. Since when does management have to review my transfer of my domain(s) before I can proceed??? There is something very illegal about this. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with regarding domain registrar. Last month they screwed me on renewals without telling. For years I paid $8.99 for .com renewals but, they charged me $35 for each. When I noticed they did not care. Only after I posted a bad review did the CEO and director of client services reach out about the review, not about the fraudulent charges. Do NOT use this company!!!
They keep making excuses to not pay you. October 10th was the date and they still did not pay anyone.
I renewed 9 domains with their masterbucks credit/currency on Friday 7th October for 1 extra year. I checked my account on Saturday 8th October and none of the 9 domains have had their expiry date extended. I reached out to customer support on their website who said it had already been escalated to their management team. I received the below email notification from their rep "Thank you for reaching out earlier. We will inform you once your domains have been renewed already. Please be patient with us. Thank you." A short while later I received the below email from Epik "Hope you're doing well. I would just like to confirm, what do you mean by expiry date not updated? Because, upon checking on my end the expiry date for the domain is on 04/28/23. Looking forward to your response." I replied back with a copy of my receipt, explaining that 7 domains should be renewed until 2024 and 2 should be renewed until 2023 I have double checked the Whois records and they are still showing the original expiry dates - none of them have been updated. Still no response or explanation as to what is going on or what happened.
If you are okay with an Escrow keeping your money for weeks. If you do not mind getting ghosted by customer support. Then you can use it else not.
