I would not recommend to anyone looking to persue a career in HGV driving! I was fed a pipe dream by the sales advisor, telling me I would finish my training within 3 months and immediately be placed in to work by one of the many recruitment companies they work with however, this was not the case! First of all, the aftersales department (customer care, customer service, whatever you want to call it) were not helpful at all. None of them had any motivation and didn’t even sound like they wanted to be on the phone with you. Secondly, once I passed my training (it took longer than 3 months due to the lack of communication between Specialised HGV and the companies they were getting me booked in with) I was told I would be able to jump straight in to work as they cater for new passed drivers. Nearly every company I called/emailed once I had passed told me that I either wasn’t old enough (I was 20), didn’t have enough experience (they wanted 2 years minimum) or that they didn’t have any jobs available. I passed my test in August 6th 2018 and still to this day have not found work through the avenues provided by this company or at all for that matter. The selling point of the deal for me was the promise that I would find it easy and they would support me in getting work after training, but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Once they have you signed in to the contract they do not care. I am currently paying for a license that I can not even use as I can not get in to work. I have now been forced to change my career path in order to keep paying the bills. I am no better off in regards to money or career than I was before I decided to buy this companies service. Don’t listen to the lies, put the time and effort in to preparing the training for yourself and looking in to this line of work thoroughly before making such a big decision. Also, if anyone from Specialised HGV happens to read this review, I would like you to know that I will be taking this to the relevant governing body as what you have done is lied and mis-sold me a dream just to get my money. You will be hearing from me on every website possible, your name deserves to be tarnished! I. Want. My. Money. Back!
I have to say from the start of the process all persons who I have interacted with have been understanding and showed clearly that they know the process. They have all been curteous and professional through out. I wish to thank Jordan and Deqa for guiding me through the process. Many thanks to them they are a credit to your company.
Really friendly staff, great learning material. So far so good
Awesome company. Arranged everything for me, kept me up to date with everything and wished me luck at all the different test I did. Thank you for helping me get my class 2 licence I would highly recommend
I've never been more angry in my entire life with a company. A contract whereby they charge you £1000 in interest for the finance option for a PCV course. Not to mention how apathetic the call centre staff are, they have no customer service skills at all. For the course you get four modules: theory & hazard, case study, PCV practical and CPC test. The practical driving test I failed and notified them and this was the response "Good Morning Fahim, Thank you for your message. We are sorry to hear that you have failed today. As the situation is you do not have any retests available to you. In order to be rebooked in you will need to purchase a retest. Please call us on 0330 333 5899 when you are ready to purchase this. PURCHASE? I ALREADY SPENT £3500 AND FOR WHAT? AND YOU WANT TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER £799 ON FINANCE FOR A RETEST. I have not called up to complain because I know they will not help. I'm now stuck to pay £79.88 for the next 46 months without a licence to show for it. EDIT 2021: Had I been advised of pass protection, I would have opted for it. Train your call centre staff better. Absolutley disgraceful.
The call was answered quickly and dealt with in a professional manner. Ammar Farishta, my coordinator, has always been very helpful and offered the required information. Today he helped me sort out the audio for my test. I really appreciate the fact that whenever I speak to him and he has to call me back for something he does it immediately and I do not have to chase him. Very prompt, thank you!
Excellent so far.
Specialised hgv training have been very helpful throughout my training they are very supportive They message daily for updates and ask if I need any help with anything
I had acquired the HGV training course though the job centre after losing my previous job, so obviously i am very grateful to all involved. The person in charge of my course was Ammar Farishta and they were constantly giving me updates and checking how my course was going. I got a congratulations message on passing my test. Obviously i am biased towards 5 star rating as i was put on the course for free, and am very grateful Neil
Absolutely fantastic company finance was very good and flexible all staff are amazing they sort everything for you very promptly and professionally they have changed my life forever thank you so much specialised hgv
Extremely helpful team especially Ammar Farishta who was my training co-coordinator and overlooked the whole process
This has been one of the worst decisions of my path to starting my career. If I could advise anyone otherwise to do more research and go at this yourself, you will come across the same problems and the same issues as you would if you were to take your chances doing this yourself. Where to begin, Paying extortionate fees for reasonable priced courses you would expect, to just sign up, follow their footsteps, you will have a job? not quite. Firstly don't take the finance packages you will be told if you pass first time you will get the money into your account, pay for your own medicals, money into your account, that isn't the case, that was the first indication of problem, rather disheartening but not really catastrophic. Go onto the tests, get myself past the Class 2 exam, to be told instantly were looking for dates to continue the training via their text service. Fantastic. Arranged for a date for the CPC a week after, accepted this date, discovered a few days later 2 days before the CPC I needed my licence for this, which was sent off to update for my newly passed C driving Test. Rang them up to cancel, it's too late, to then be told it's on a email that i should of checked because their texting service didn't cover this information that I would need my licence for such exam. This was offered to be covered, although the Tacho-Card is something I would have to fund myself, I rang up to express my dissatisfaction to this for it to be retracted for my CPC offer, which pretty much sums my experiences with them, willing to offer one benefit to take away another. Apparently going to themselves to get me through a sectors training, that I don't know, it was my issue, stated on the email i got in response, but out of a gesture of good will were willing to cover that cost. This then came onto the factor of you'd expect to pay Specialised HGV Training, the sum of money then be in a workplace after, one small little hitch in that idea, Tacho-cards, I didn't know about these until sitting my theory and learning for it, I didn't realise this would need to be paid for, I did learn after sitting and learning for my exams, that this was a necessity to drive, and is an additional fee that Specialised HGV Training will not cover the cost of. The attitudes of the company and mannerisms of the manager in the department, at the time, is horrific. While some of the standard employees are a phenomenal help and have been more then polite unfortunately it is managed poorly. While everything above was more than expected of the company I beg to differ on the idea for such a large sum of money for such an inexpensive training, which would naturally imply you're paying for the expertise and customer service, unfortunately I haven't seen either, minus some of the standard colleagues. Please make you're own decision on this experience, and I hope it allows others to have the confidence to take this on with their own confidence and not through companies like this. In addition to this any other training you wish to take (resits) are done via themselves, with a 200% to the cost of what most training centres would charge, and is very rare for them to allow anything else to happen.
The staffs are excellent. I felt like I’m one of their family... So secure and well organized...
Good company. Nothing to worry about, just learn and do your tests.
Very professional, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this group. Ammar Farishta was extremely helpful. Thank you for a great service 😊
I completed a FLT instructor training course .The course was brilliant only problem was there was mistake made with my payment which resulted in a delay getting my certificate this hopefully now has been resolved by a very nice guy goes by the name of oliver manys thanks to him .l look forward to a new career.
1- price very VERY high .2 - services very VERY low . NO ONE can learn driving 16 hours in 4 day and 5 days test ABSOLUT horrible. I lost 4 hours training because can not drive 4 hours/ day. You need break after 2 hours drive ... oupss I felt the test and I need another 600 pounds + 4000 I pay already... practical training was very very far I travel 4 hours in every day I WILL RECOMMEND TO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Helped me every step of the way and gave me info when i asked, cant ask for much more imo! M.Thomson
People on the phone were always helpful when dealing with them (although it seemed like it was a different person every time !) Sometimes I couldn't get through and would leave a message, but never got a call back ? The idea of one company arranging things is a fairly good idea, but you do pay a premium for it. If you were of a mind to arrange things for yourself (medical, theory & hazard perception tests, and go directly to a driver training company for the practical side) you would probably save around 20%. Also, in my opinion the "extra" possible expense of a retest if you fail the practical should be included (but isn't). Overall the service was very good, and made it simple, and worth it as long as you're aware that you're paying for that type of service.

Mar 08,2019Although organised through work I found Specialised HGV Training to be very professional and organised. Ammar was very good and was extremely approachable over the phone when I needed to re-arrange something. He was also helpful in filling out the correct form to send off for my license, which isn't always straight forward.
