Predatory Company.. I rented a storage unit for $125 from a unit on Erie Blvd in Schenectady, NY., The sign up is easy and pleasant but after 2 months the storage Unit increased to $225.. When requesting to speak to the District Manager, the manager Molly was very Rude..She stated there was no one above her.. After researching for whom the District Manager was and contacting the number, I never received a call back.. I pray someone can file a lawsuit against this predatory company.. Some people budget and can’t afford your price increases every other month..

Everything is good but Life Storage's pricings strategy. Constantly raising prices. Just got an increase after a year of 21.6% (worst than comcast). DO NOT USE THIS ORGANIZATION. By the way they also raised price after first two months. They assume you won't move, but I will.

622 WEST 51 STREET NY NY 10019- BEWARE OF PREDATOR MANAGER DIANDRE! 60% RENT INCREASE EVERY 3 MONTHS. FIRST ROOM WAS BROKEN INTO AND HAD WATER DAMAGE. NEVER GOT A CALL FROM A DISTRICT MANAGER. SECOND ROOM I COULD NEVER ACCESS DUE TO A PEDICAB BUSINESS RUN OUT OF THE AISLES. I DID GET A CALL FROM A 718 AREA CODE THAT WAS THE MANAGER’S BOYFRIEND POSING AS A DISTRICT MANAGER. VERY BAD MANAGEMENT RUDE AND EXPENSIVE

Bad business. Increased my rent 60% after 4 months. Said they would lower it then ghosted me and my follow up requests and emails. My larger unit was broken into and I never was informed. About to leave for the smaller unit

So, I currently have 2 units. 1 for exactly one year and the 2nd one about 6months+. Issue started when I went to my older unit and noticed the roof had caved in. This was over 8months ago. When I brought it to the managers attention, the solution he provided was for me to leave my keys and he'll contract a company to fix the roof. I asked how that is a safe solution considering he'll be giving access to my unit that contains all my personal items to total strangers with no supervision. I attempted to ask how that's even something a business that's in charge of peoples personal belongings can suggest. The manager became argumentative with me even when I suggested that they contact me before touching my belongings so I can come & move anything if they needed anything moved. I declined that utterly ridiculous suggestion and immediately called csr to submit a complaint. I guess they called the manager who then immediately called me and instead of apologizing for his unprofessionalism he stated that I should have just listened to what he was saying. I actually put him on mute because I was soo mad. He then asked me what day would be convenient and I said Saturday morning however I ended up having to go to work and missed their call. Well, since then the issue has yet to be addressed. They even had the audacity to state that the reason being that the contractors are quoting them high cost of repairs. Meanwhile, I just received a letter regarding the cost of the said unit being raised yet again. I mean, the audacity of these people. My belongings are exposed to God knows what for the past 4months. And did I mention that they had a break in my newest unit (luckily nothing was stolen from me) however, the other units around were robbed off electronics etc...i'm livid about this!! & No, I don't want to talk to their argumentative manager nor the argumentative assistant manager either!! Just a professional straight headed person who can use common sense. FYI/ Ive sent this complaint to the BBB

I usually Post Positive so I have one that Cyndi Manager kick ass but leaving and only has been there for 4 months like myself. Got a email last week from the merging life storage I read it in disbelief. Starred at it for over 10 mins thinking I have never had a set bill each month go up 100.00 dollars. Child support the state of Washington nows we all are covered under the land lord tenant laws I don't care what there illegal contract says you can write up anything. I don't have time to fight so I moved a full 10 x 20 locker I went to a different storage facility now paying 150.00 a month. They probably thought I was going to move or just don't care. Usually you get a 30 day notice of any changes with any contract. Whatever communism at its finest James michael

Never ending rate increases every 3 months. Before you know it, you're paying double the market rate or higher. This is a predatory investment firm only concerned with large profit gains for the shareholders. Avoid or move out if you're already being victimized.

This company is run by Total THIEVES. You sign a contract and expect that's the rent, then boom, increase after increase with no notice! I had 3 UNITS - it seems like every other month when I called to pay, it's been increased! Huge increases! Not $5.00 or $10.00 - but $30.00, $40.00 even $50.00! WTH! I'm on a fixed income, I didn't check out all of my options before settling on them, based on price and my budget, only to have it keep changing, and pay more!? This should be illegal. People who work on site are lovely but owners are deceptive crooks!

Dawn B. guided me in renting a 10x30 storage unit, which, in this facility, is two smaller units side-by-side, in a climate controlled building. Dawn is a knowledgeable manager, friendly and keeps the place super clean. She also is excellent with follow-up and follow-through. I very much appreciate that! The move-in process was made simple. In addition, this facility is easy to access and feels very safe.

Bad experience with Life Storage Oakland Park. This company allows itself to increase the rent by 50% without notice, without notification, suddenly. Totally dishonest. They tried it for the first time after 6 months of use. We complained and they gave up. They started again this month and they are taking advantage of the fact that we are not here. Inadmissible. We contacted them. They will think. Finally, they applied a penalty to us for non-payment while we were waiting for their response ($188 to $329!!). Incredible. These abusive practices absolutely must stop. While waiting to take legal action, we will try to reveal it to as many people as possible.

Life Storage uses a bait and switch to attract customers. They always have a banner showing special rental rates--lock in your rate now! The rates then show as 50% more if you rent in person rather than online. Granted the indoor temperature-controlled units and free use of carts is a plus and the brief customer service in-person was good. However, there are more fees - admin fee of $29, then padlock fee + tax = 20.19 then the special rate storage fee. I received the special rate for 3 months. Then suddenly the "promotional rate" expired and increased by DOUBLE!!! I did sign a contract that said the rate can increase at any time, it's just the use of "lock in your rate now" implies it would be at least a year like most rentals. No one wants to move all their stuff after just 3 months because all the storage units get away with this deception. Count on your rate being DOUBLE what is advertised and you won't feel cheated.

Un authorized payment I rented a 5x5 space at the Sachman street Location in Brooklyn for our church. We always paid our bill on time, but recently I received several text reminder notifications that payment was due, so I waited for the payment date which is the 21, of every month as usual. instead I got a text thanking me for payment received. I called to find out how they received payment, Because I never use autopay, and never activate a record card for future payment. The manager on site, looked at the account and confirmed that it was on auto pay. and immediately took it off. I asked him why did he take it off, he responded that it most likely it was a mistake at the office. I requested to speak to a customer service rep, he had no # for that department, I finally was able to find a customer serv.# and make an official complaint. as per customer service I should receive a call within 48 hrs. pending an investigation. BE AWARE! Companies are not allowed to use your credit without your consent, whether to pay themselves or any other actions without your knowledge that are considered FRAUD. we immediately vacated the Lot and requested to have our account close. All this happened Today August 21, 2024

I request for the owner to contact me when I posted the review on their website which I noticed was deleted. Aug 20, 2024 Once again, there’s an issue with their assistant manager. In late July, we encountered an issue when we weren't informed about a significant rise that I was told was an overestimation of the market value of storage units (a $60 increase, with subsequent increases every 2-3 months on an unpredictable schedule based on market value) - our automatic payment unexpectedly failed, likely due to an error initiated from the action of the assistant manager, with whom I had problems the previous month. He marked my account for cancellation even though I did not cancel. This must have disrupted the auto pay, which I had been making payments without any problems for nearly two years. I spoke with a senior management employee in late July about an issue with him, but no one has reached out to me regarding my auto payment not processing in the last two weeks, either by email or phone. I only found out about the late payment through a notification I saw over the weekend, which I noted and called their 1-800 number to make a payment, but there was no one available to assist me. I contacted their office the following Tuesday morning, but I had to call back later due to an urgent home matter. After that, I called their 1-800 number to make the payment. I informed the representative that I was unclear about why my auto payment failed, resulting in a late fee on the bill, especially after being told that my rate would be temporarily reduced to address their oversight and align with the market value rate. I inquired about the possibility of a refund for the late fee and was informed that it is likely to be reimbursed, as he noted my consistent on-time payments throughout my lease. The representative suggested I speak with one of the onsite managers, who can assist me with reimbursing the late fee situation, as I have never been late with my payments before. I also mentioned that no one reached out to me and that I did not receive any emails regarding a late payment. I believed this matter was settled, and that I only needed to speak with a manager the following day. I went to my storage unit to retrieve some belongings, and as I was leaving, the assistant manager from Life Storage waved for me to stop moving the car from leaving. He kept insisting I follow him to the office for some matter which I told him that I’m in a hurry and do not have the time. He emphasized that there was a matter that needed to be dealt with. I asked him what this urgent issue he has with me, and he informed me that "You are 24 days overdue, and you need to pay up." He refused to believe me. I very clearly reiterated to him that I understood the situation and that I already made payment, and asked what his issue was with me now since he did not want to believe I paid my bill. He responded that he would need to confirm it when he goes to the office. I told him 'I did not have the time to deal with this', and 'inquired why I wasn’t contacted when the auto pay failed, and also why I did not receive any calls to remind me that my payment didn’t go through?' He stated that there would be email and call records concerning my claim that no one had contacted me regarding the payment issue. He asked if I had called over the weekend on a Sunday, implying that no one would have picked up since they don't work on Sunday. I inquired whether the late fee could be refunded since no one reached out to me earlier about the auto payment not working and there were no calls/messages before today, aside from 'him calling me back'. He mentioned he would check if I made the payment first before he will refund the late fee. I found his tone towards me to be disrespectful, and he clearly didn’t trust my claim that I had already made the payment! Furthermore, if I hadn't made the payment, entry into their facility would have been denied, let alone tolerate the condescending attitude and disrespectful conduct. Telling me to follow him into the office when I’m in a rush, is ridiculous and very poor customer service especially when I have not been late with paying before. He was rude and demeaning in how he talked down to me. As a good customer without any problem until the month prior with him, I have no interest in prolonging any dealing with him and he went out of his way to stop me from leaving. When a customer tells you that she/he has paid, you do not go on trying to enforce what he thinks not what is real otherwise he’d be making the customer pay double. He could have handled the situation by saying he will check with his records and get back to me, not insist I stay follow him into the office to settle the bill!! It would be unwise for me to naively accompany him to the office, given his apparent issues with me due to his actions.

Rats Rats !!! I rented 4 storages and 2 of them were infested with rats and rat droppings were everywhere. The droppings were all in my clothes, bags ripped to shreds by those little nasty creatures. My blankets and mattresses had rat urine all over them and a lot of my clothes were ruined. When I reported this to the high insurance through their company I was quickly dismissed. The lady was rude and disrespectful to me. The storage is on Covington Highway across from a gas station. Please beware!

This is the WORST storage. And I can tell with proof since my husband has owned several storages over the years in the same area. I'm not sure if this was only for the Plantation one, but we really had a terrible experience. We hired the storage 20 minutes away from our home because it was the best deal-price in the area, we were getting a 10x10 for less than $100, which for any other storage was over, we decided to take the trip. The facility doesn't have much trollies and they are not available and right after we rented the unit we couldn't get in because the code was not working, so around 2-3 trips in vain... Even that could happen, but the worst part was that after just 3 months of renting there, they increased my rent to TWICE the amount I was paying, they didn't even wait a year and when I called they told me that they could change the price whenever they wanted and that they sent me a mail. So everything was informed via email prior to this but their increase is by mail... So convenient! Very bad experience. As I mentioned, my husband has several units in other storages and they don't increase their prices just like that. Life Storage is not a good one, go somewhere else.
